License tagging for Image:Dancingcolors.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dancingcolors.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

I LOVE the photo of the rabicano horse and hope you can keep it from being deleted. Here's a suggestion from a fellow wikipedian: I think the safest way to license the photo for Wikipedia is the GFDL license or the attribution required, share-alike license, but read over what it is, because once a photo is up on Wikipedia, it can be spread around almost anywhere without paying you or asking permission. You can only request attribution and limit the creation of deviative works, use as a front or back cover, etc. The wikipedia gurus WILL delete the photo if you don't license it in an acceptable matter. (And "permission to use on wikipedia" isn't good enough for them now...) Just FYI, hope this helps! Montanabw 18:51, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
