Copyright problem on Tara Cooper
[edit]Material you included in the above article appears to have been copied from the copyright web page http://openstudio.ca/printopolis-publication-now-available/. Copying text directly from a source is a copyright violation. Unfortunately, for copyright reasons, the content had to be removed. Please leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions or if you think I made a mistake. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 21:24, 12 March 2017 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Tara Cooper
[edit]Hello Copystar,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Tara Cooper for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Speedy deletion nomination of Tara Cooper
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Tara Cooper requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://uwaterloo.ca/fine-arts/about/people/faculty/tara-cooper/tara-cooper-curriculum-vitae. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Robert G. Copy paste from Draft to Mainspace
[edit]You shouldn't copy-paste content from Draft into Mainspace as was done with Draft:Tom Longboat Award -> Tom Longboat Awards. The article history makes it look like you are the sole and original author of the content, and not User:Brandsant22 who actually wrote most of the article. You should notify on the talk page who the original author was. -- GreenC 15:33, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
I understand and I certainly did not intend to take credit from User:Brandsant22 who I very much recognize did a great deal of work in setting up the table of the original article. However, there is some additional context that you would not have known which is that I also did considerable work within and using User:Brandsant22 sandbox during a Wikipedia Editathon dedicated Elite Aboriginal Athletes that we were both working on. I recognize that this is also not proper Wikipedia protocol but at the time we was unclear how to handover the work from one user's Sandbox to another. That all being said, I will take your suggestion and give User:Brandsant22 his due on the talk page. Copystar (talk) 15:40, 30 December 2017 (UTC)

Non-free use of File:Sttomlogo.PNG
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Sttomlogo.PNG. However, there is a concern that the use of the image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. Details of this problem, and which specific criteria that the image may not meet, can be obtained by going to the image description page. If you feel that this image does meet those criteria, please place a note on the image description or talk page explaining why. Do not remove the {{di-fails NFCC}} tag itself.
An administrator will review this file within a few days, and having considered the opinions placed on the image page, may delete it in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion or remove the tag entirely. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 16:57, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Sttomlogo.PNG
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Sttomlogo.PNG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:36, 23 June 2018 (UTC)

- I've also deleted another version of the same content at User talk:St. Thomas Public Library, for the same reason. I also found evidence of copying in Helen Waimel Robertson, and have blanked that and listed it at WP:Copyright problems for investigation. You are welcome to rewrite it without the copied content (ask here if you don't see how to find the special temporary page to do that on). Just for the avoidance of any doubt: with a few very rare exceptions, everything you write here must be entirely in your own words; you can freely use the facts, ideas and concepts of the sources, but the actual form of expression, the language used, must be entirely your own. If any aspect of this is not clear to you, do please ask (here is fine) for clarification. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 18:41, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
- Hello. You marked the article, Helen Waimel Robertson as a potential source of copyright infringement. The article was already reviewed by editor, Vexations. When I compare my original entry (https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Helen_Waimel_Robertson&oldid=832243793) with the page http://cwahi.concordia.ca/sources/artists/displayArtist.php?ID_artist=5558, I do not see "copyvio blanking, foundational copying" that you see. I rewrote the text and supplemented the material with additional references. Can you please explain where you see the copyright violation so I can correct it? Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Copystar (talk • contribs) 01:46, 31 March 2019 (UTC)Moved from my talk.– Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 12:34, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
- Copystar, please see this comparison, where similar phrases are highlighted in red; some of the apparent overlap is caused by proper names – but not all. If you like, you can work on a rewrite [1]; otherwise I will clean up the page in due course. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 12:34, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting back to me re: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:Copystar#March_2019. When you run the text compare, it suggests that the violation is unlikely. https://tools.wmflabs.org/copyvios/?lang=en&project=wikipedia&title=&oldid=832243793&action=search&use_engine=1&use_links=1&turnitin=0 So I don't know why why the article was flagged for violation. I don't believe there is any copyright violation here. What is the best way to have the text restored? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Copystar (talk • contribs) 12:51, 31 March 2019 (UTC)Moved from my talk– Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 13:07, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
- The "unlikely" is based on the percentage of overlap found by the tool; the problem is in the phrases and sentences highlighted in red. As I said above, you can either rewrite it on the special temporary page, or I or someone else will deal with it in due course; if you'd like that to be someone other than me (for a second opinion), I'll hold back – your call! If you have more questions, please ask them here on this page, so as to keep all the conversation in one place. You can sign your talk-page posts by adding four tildes (
