Request reason:
I don't know why I was blocked. I don't believe I've ever made any contributions, and I want to start helping out.
Decline reason:
You are blocked for violating WP:SOCK and don't address this. Yamla (talk) 10:11, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
Block Appeal
[edit]Cooperaterrill (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
I believe I have been blocked unfairly. I'm positive I haven't made any edits, at least in quite some time, and I would like to start contributing by making small copy edits. My account is not a sock; I'm not sure how this conclusion was reached but I did attend a large high school and am now at a large university, so there were/are possibly vandals with my IP. To my memory, this is the first Wikipedia account I have ever owned. I promise to make good use of the rights granted to me and not to abuse them in any way, shape, or form. Thank you.
Accept reason:
Welcome back. Given you were previously blocked for socking, I would strongly advise you to stick to a single account, even avoiding allowed uses of alternative accounts. However, this is just advice of what I would do in your situation; you will not be blocked for "violating" it. Best of luck. HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 18:06, 1 December 2024 (UTC)

- {{checkuser needed}} This sounds like a plausible reason that you would look like a sock but not be a sock. Does this match the technical evidence? HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 01:35, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- Based on assessment of the logs, this user was blocked as a sleeper sock of Tiberdirk (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · CA · CheckUser(log) · investigate · cuwiki). Based on the data available after looking at this user today, that is a distinct possibility a year and change down the road that doesn't depend on what school they were at. Materialscientist, do you have anything (doubtful, given this looks like a routine catch)? Izno (talk) 02:11, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- Also, based on the last decline, Yamla did you see anything particular that caused you to decline this or was it really a "it was socking and you didn't discuss that"? Izno (talk) 02:14, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- It was literally just that socking wasn't discussed. Based on the data I see, everything looked too noisy in the logs to make strong claims. "I did attend a large high school and am now at a large university" would be consistent with what I'm seeing in the technical logs. :) Now that Cooperaterrill has spoken to the socking, and given that statement is consistent with what I see in the logs, I support unblocking here. It could be they were a sleeper sock of Tiberdirk but it could also be they were simply a student at the same high school. Regardless, Tiberdirk was blocked 18 months ago and so even if Cooperaterrill was definitely a sock, I'd support unblocking them (with WP:ROPE). --Yamla (talk) 12:09, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Materialscientist: do you object to unblocking? While I obviously cannot see the technical evidence, I think the combination of reasonable doubt and waiting 18 months pushes this firmly into unblock territory. HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 16:27, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- Materialscientist does not get pings. If you want their attention you'll have to post to their user talk page. * Pppery * it has begun... 22:34, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- Unblocking is Ok with me, sorry for delay, overloaded in real life. Materialscientist (talk) 02:42, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
