Welcome

[edit]

Hello, Consulrjo, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Newcomers help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! You know, I didn't delete your article, I just moved it to a different name (FWIW, I don't understand why there's a dot after "David" in the original name). You can still edit the original article at the new address (David A Gill; note that David A. Gill redirects so we have a choice), but please don't type over the redirect. Thanks! :)

Mark Howard and Tommy Lee

[edit]

Hi

Normally when two people have the same name, we distinguish between them by putting something in brackets afterwards, like this: Danny Wallace (footballer). I noticed you'd created articles for Mark Howard and Tommy Lee, but both players already have articles at Mark Howard (defender) and Tommy Lee (footballer). Could you merge your articles into the ones that were already there so we don't have two articles on each player?

Thanks, CTOAGN (talk) 19:00, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Steve Davis (umpire)

[edit]

Hi Consulrjo,
The article "Steve Davis (Umpire)" has been deleted as it is a content fork (duplicate) of Steve Davis (umpire). However, in case you'd like to use any of the text from that article, I've pasted it below.

Stephen James Davis, (born 9 April 1952 in London), is an Australian Test cricket match umpire, from London.

He umpired nine Test matches between 1993 and 2000. His first match was between Australia and New Zealand at Brisbane on 3 December to 7 December 1993, won by Australia by an innings and 96 runs, with Allan Border and Steve Waugh scoring centuries, and Shane Warne and Craig McDermott taking 8 and 6 wickets respectively. Parker’s partner was Steve Randell.

Parker’s last Test match was between Australia and the West Indies at Perth on 1 December to 3 December 2000, won by Australia by an innings and 27 runs with Mark Waugh scoring a century, and wickets being shared by Glenn McGrath (who took a hat-trick, Brett Lee, Jason Gillespie and Stuart MacGill. Parker’s partner was the English umpire John Hampshire.

Parker umpired 46 one-day international (ODI) matches between 1993 and 2005. Altogether, he has umpired 98 first-class matches in his career between 1986 and December 2005. He is still (January 2006) an active first-class umpire, and is still on the International Cricket Council's International Panel of Umpires and Referees.

License tagging for Image:040871.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:040871.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:05, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Warning for persistent vandalism of Manchester United F.C.

[edit]

Thanks for experimenting with the page Manchester United F.C. on Wikipedia. Your recent edit appears to have added incorrect information and has been reverted or removed. All information in the encyclopedia must be verifiable in a reliable published source. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thank you.

As you can see here, David Beswitherick was fired from his job as Manchester United club secretary nearly two years ago. If you continue to add his name back into the Manchester United article, I will have to report you to an admin for vandalism.

Notability of Lee Crockett

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Lee Crockett, by Slumgum (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Lee Crockett seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Lee Crockett, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Lee Crockett itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 17:08, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Lee Crockett, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.  slυмgυм [ ←→ ] 17:26, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey man, I noticed you added this guy to the list of Man Utd staff as the "Head of Sports Science". Can you please provide a source for this info? Cheers. – PeeJay 17:26, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Consulrjo! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 5 of the articles that you created are Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to these articles, it would greatly help us with the current 688 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Problem with your custom signature

[edit]

You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

More information about custom signatures is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. Thank you. 18:02, 7 September 2020 (UTC)
