Speedy deletion nomination of Robin Queen

[edit]

Hello ColleenNoel,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Robin Queen for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. ubiquity (talk) 14:39, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, ColleenNoel. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Robin Queen, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Drm310 (talk) 14:50, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Robin Queen requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Exemplo347 (talk) 15:05, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Exemplo347: Even the version of the article as it was created [1] contains substantial content and a credible claim for notability. This is very, very far from WP:A7 territory. Thanks, Uanfala (talk) 11:10, 13 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Robin Queen et al

[edit]

I saw on Talk:Robin Queen your intent to create pages for all the members of your Linguistics Department, "to facilitate the search for information by students." Wikipedia is not a directory of academics, and Wikipedia is not a web-hosting service for your department. All subjects of Wikipedia articles must meet Wikipedia standards for notability and verifiability. In particular, academic staff are not automatically considered notable. Please read WP:NACADEMICS so that you will understand the criteria for academics who do not otherwise meet the general notability guidelines. Professor Queen probably satisfies these criteria (though I see someone else has tagged the article for speedy), since she "holds or has held a named chair appointment or distinguished professor appointment at a major institution of higher education," but it may be that some of your staff may not. Thanks. ubiquity (talk) 15:14, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Robin Queen, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. The creator of a page is not allowed to remove speedy deletion tags. Drm310 (talk) 15:21, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Robin Queen, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. Thank you. A couple of things

[edit]

I see that the article Robin Queen has been retained, as she was deemed notable enough for inclusion. Therefore, I have placed the {{paid}} template on your userpage, which satisfies the mandatory disclosure of your paid editing with that article.

I also noticed that you made a change in the {{Infobox person}} part of the page. This is a template with predefined parameters, so you cannot make up your own. If it isn't one of the ones already defined, the text you enter won't display. You can click the link to go to the page and see the full list of available parameters. Alternately, you could have a look at {{Infobox academic}} and see if you think that would be more appropriate. If so, leave a note on the article talk page. --Drm310 (talk) 15:24, 12 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have edited the template to also show the article. This is just for transparency purposes and per our TOU. Thank you. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 15:27, 22 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
