- Thank you for all previous comments and help (which have now been archived, I hope). I was new to this and found the procedure and code to be a bit difficult. I am now pasting some auto-archive code. Hope I'm putting it in the right place. Thanks!

Code removed: redundant.
- Link to archive page removed. Redundant. Title of page is:
User talk:CohuttaBlue/Archive
- Added link to the text I attempted to archive, so it can be found, if I've messed up the code; and Changed the bot numberstart code to '2', since (I think) I manually created Archive Page 1. CohuttaBlue (talk) 04:23, 26 August 2016 (UTC)
- Fixed link error. CohuttaBlue (talk) 04:47, 26 August 2016 (UTC)

"Using Your Talk Page"
Tip for viewing on mobile device:
To see helpful tips and links or to edit a current discussion, return to your main Talk page and click "Read as Wiki Page." For more about Talk pages, see Help:Talk page.
If all else fails, type {{help me}} at the bottom of your main talk page.
- This discussion was added and edited on a mobile device. It would be wise to view it on a desktop application as well. It might also be helpful to check back after some time has passed to see if these comments are still clear and relevant. CohuttaBlue (talk) 04:01, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
- Note to self: In the above-referenced template, "helpme" should be preceded by "tlx" and the vertical divider "|," as you had originally written it. This was probably the piece of code that prompted an editor to message you something about preventing template invocation. (Mea culpa.) In an attempt to make the code display as plain text, you just dug the hole deeper. Somehow you have updated the desktop version of the page, while publishing an outdated version for mobile. The mobile version balked at your changes and has refused to budge. Apparently the discussion cannot be deleted in the mobile version, either. But this code probably should be used only as a last resort, anyway. CohuttaBlue (talk) 09:54, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
- I hope I didn't confuse things too much. There are two approaches to handling the display of templates: one is to use the 'tl' or 'tlx' template to display the template name without invoking it. The tlx version lets you include parameters, which is sometimes useful, the other is to surround the template with 'nowiki' tags. Use one or the other, but not both. Either methods looks about the same in the resulting text display, but the first one leaves a clickable link to the template, so I usually reach for it first. When editing with mobile view or the visual editor, it can be difficult to get coding details correct; if I'm on a mobile device and have to edit, I always scroll to the bottom of the page and switch to 'desktop' mode.
- Now for what's confusing me. It looks like you are either talking to yourself or there are two different users using the account. Now there's something to be said for 'present you' explaining things to 'past you' as a recordkeeping technique and I sometimes use something like that technique when I am diarizing my learning process for a new bit of software; you are pushing the technique a bit hard here.
- Finally, you may be wondering why did I come and change the template invocation in the first place? When you invoke one of the help templates, that has the effect of enrolling the page in a special category Category:Wikipedians looking for help which is watched, usually via some bots, by a number of editors who are interested in providing help. I sometimes refer to it as a 'batsignal'. Spurious batsignals can be a waste of time, so we usually deal with them quickly and without much fuss, saving our efforts for real calls for help. I pay attention to pages I've edited recently, so when you left your 'note to self', I thought it might help to add more explanation.

Yes, thanks! I'm glad you disabled the template. Yes, I was leaving myself notes. Some of it is probably more suited to the sandbox than the talk page. Still learning. I edit in spurts--got interested again recently. It's a bit frightening that the learning process here is "live" and errors are instantly global (blush). Thanks again!
