Hello, Cmnpt, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like this place and decide to stay.

Why can't I edit some particular pages?
Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visible templates, are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them. If this is not the case, you may have been blocked or your IP address caught up in a range block.
Where can I experiment with editing Wikipedia?
How do I create an article?
See how to create your first article, then use the Article Wizard to create one, and add references to the article as explained below.
How do I create citations?
  1. Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
  2. Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
  3. In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
  4. Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
  5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like <ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>, copy the whole thing).
  6. In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
  7. If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References==
{{Reflist}}
What is a WikiProject, and how do I join one?
A WikiProject is a group of editors that are interested in improving the coverage of certain topics on Wikipedia. (See this page for a complete list of WikiProjects.) If you would like to help, add your username to the list that is on the bottom of the WikiProject page.

Unblock request

[edit]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

A few hours ago, I pinged my blocking administrator, User:JBW, on my talk page to ask how I should request unblock if I was blocked for sockpuppetry. I haven't received a response yet, but nevertheless, I will state my mistakes here and what I will do better in the future. First of all, I've always been interested in editing Wikimedia. I may have tried to edit without experience during the time of using my original account, User:Bhinegar, and made too much unconstructive edits only to realize it was too late the next morning (time zone difference probably, I didn't see most of the warnings before the block.) The next morning, I found that I'd been blocked indefinitely for being NOTHERE, and I didn't respond to the block well. I was immature about it and started yelling on my talk page when the request was denied, then I created new accounts to evade the block, but I didn't realize it would only make things worse. As for NOTHERE, I hope that I've demonstrated during my edits with this account that I now know how to edit constructively and build Wikipedia. As for my sockpuppetry, I apologize for my approach to request unblock and recognize my mistakes. I won't abuse accounts again in the future if I were to get blocked, I'll address the issue and be patient. I haven't edited any Wikimedia projects ever since I received the block notice (other than this page, obviously) because I didn't want to worsen my sockpuppetry issues and to demonstrate that I'll change from now on. I hope I can get unblocked on enwiki now, if not, maybe have some way to contribute to Wikimedia projects (e.g. edit simplewiki), because I really want to help make Wikimedia a better place. Again, I apologize for my past mistakes, including NOTHERE and sockpuppetry, and I hope I've demonstrated I've contributed positively, and I won't abuse accounts like this again. I hope you can review my request and unblock me. Thank you. Cmnpt (talk) 04:10, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

First, you need to make this request from your original account. Second, you are globally locked and need to first contact a Steward to get that removed. Third, due to your repeated abuse of multiple accounts, no administrator may unilaterally lift your block and there would need to be a community discussion, which right now has zero chance of succeeding. There's nothing anyone can do for you right now, it's going to be a long process. 331dot (talk) 09:08, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

And, evading your block to make edits to show that we should remove the block for evading your block will not be a successful strategy. 331dot (talk) 09:09, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@331dot: Per your instructions in step 1, how should I make this unblock request from my original account if it’s locked? I understand the part about contacting the stewards, I’ll just go ahead and contact them first. Cmnpt (talk) 17:15, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that is what you must do first. We can do absolutely nothing for you locally on this wiki until the global lock is removed. 331dot (talk) 17:21, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot: I contacted stewards two days ago, still haven't received a response. Should I wait longer or contact my blocking steward? Please let me know, thanks. Cmnpt (talk) 01:26, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Stewards are volunteers just like the rest of us, doing what they can when they can. I guess you could try directly contacting the steward that instituted the lock, but either way, patience is required. 331dot (talk) 09:01, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot: I emailed the steward that instituted the lock, should I leave a message notifying him on his talk page on Meta? Because I don't want to get in further trouble for lock evasion, does leaving a message on his Meta talk page count as lock evasion? Please let me know, thank you. Cmnpt (talk) 03:09, 24 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The email should be sufficient. 331dot (talk) 07:52, 24 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot: It has been over a week since I emailed Wikimedia stewards, and a week since I emailed my locking steward, still no response. Should I keep waiting or are there other forms of appeal? (i.e. eligible for un(b)lock after x months of no editing,) or will the block be infinite unless I address the issue? Please let me know what I should do next, thank you. P.S. I still haven't edited any Wikimedia project ever since my block on enwiki, and I will continue to not edit, hopefully I can get un(b)locked soon. Cmnpt (talk) 22:30, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I can't force the stewards to communicate with you. It's in their hands now. The only other possible avenue of appeal would be contacting ArbCom. 331dot (talk) 22:36, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot: And just to confirm, no unblocks can be made here until the global lock is dealt with? Cmnpt (talk) 03:57, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. 331dot (talk) 08:41, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot: So does this mean that if ArbCom doesn't reply, there's no way to get un(b)locked? Cmnpt (talk) 21:26, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Any pathway to you being unblocked is going to be a long process. That includes those who hear appeals and who may have other fish to fry before they get to you. And no one can force them to communicate with you- if they don't want to talk to you right now, they won't. 331dot (talk) 21:47, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot: As of writing this, it has been three weeks since I've been blocked, during which I haven't edited any Wikimedia wiki. I understand that it may take a while for me to get unblocked on enwiki, but after a week, can I start editing other Wikimedia wikis? I really want to, and I could've done so any time, but I haven't done it at all because I don't want to get in more trouble if this is considered (b)lock evasion. Please let me know if it's allowed; if it isn't, then I won't do it, even if I really want to and I can, because I recognize my past mistakes and don't want to make the same bad choices again. Thank you. Cmnpt (talk) 23:35, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you further evade the block/global lock, that will reduce your chances of being unblocked to zero. You should not do it. I would suggest that you find another wiki type project to participate in for the time being, like a Fandom wiki. The advantage there is that you can build up a history of good contributions and behaviors and offer that as proof that you can do so here. 331dot (talk) 23:57, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
