- Being a high school homecoming king, receiving a scholarship from a college or university (which millions of students do annually), and placing 91st in a race are trivia (something Wikipedia frowns upon anyway), not notable in the sense of what should qualify to make someone worth mentioning in an encyclopedia. Unless Hayes has done something that particularly stands out as remarkable (see Paul Gause) then I see no reason why he should be included. "As such, the people should decide who is a notable alumni and who isn't." You're right, but I'm a part of that people too and the fact of the matter is if every single alumni from a high school got his own bullet and something s/he did while in school, Wikipedia would turn to garbage very quickly and lose its aim. If someone wants to do the type of research you referred to then they should check out that high school's library and historical files, not a public access encyclopedia.
