Thanks for uploading Image:Marianne_Leone.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you have questions about copyright tagging of images, post on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags or User talk:Carnildo/images. 17:42, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Interrotron web page.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-3.0}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file, please understand that the vast majority of images found on the internet are not appropriate for Wikipedia. Most content on the internet is copyrighted and the creator of the image has exclusive rights to use it. Wikipedia respects the copyrights of others - do not upload images that violate others' copyrights. In certain limited cases, we may be able to use an image under a claim of fair use - if you are certain that fair use would apply here, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list. If no fair use rationale applies, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Benja (talk) 03:44, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Couldn't find your reference for "totus mundus agit histrionem" on the page you supplied. Am I missing something (not totally unknown)? Apologies if so. --Old Moonraker (talk) 13:22, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My source is James Shapiro's book 1599. However I no longer have it in my possession so I cannot give you his reference for it. I'll update the page with a reference the next time I go to the library I guess. Clotten (talk) 05:26, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. --Old Moonraker (talk) 12:58, 10 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What's the problem with the "Eugenics" section (apart from WP:IDONTLIKEIT, of course, with which I might have some sympathy)? --Old Moonraker (talk) 23:32, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I posted my arguments on the talk page. As far as I can tell, only people who link Shaw to eugenics are either proponents of eugenics or fascism themselves, or American conservatives trying to paint Shaw as a violent socialist. If it has any place on Wikipedia, it's under a controversy page that correctly contextualizes the claims. Clotten (talk) 23:56, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Agree regarding the need for context. I have replaced one "Stone" reference, as he seems to be something of a bête noir for you, with a couple from Daniel Kevles, Harvard. Many respected commentators hold the view expressed in the section; our job is keep it balanced, as an accurate representation of what's out there. If you have a minute, take a look at what the section used to say about Shaw before concerned editors tried, softly softly, to tone it down. --Old Moonraker (talk) 09:52, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of alleged UFO sightings, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Angel hair (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Request reason:

Read your terms (why do you assume I hadn't already? you trifling editors lol if you think my edits are categorically wrong then THIS is why I say YOU need to stop using this website, not me!)

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 21:01, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
