Hello Clignett73. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about following the reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 13:32, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, but at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Clignett, did not appear to be constructive and has been automatically reverted (undone) by an automated computer program called ClueBot NG.

  • Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Note that human editors do monitor recent changes to Wikipedia articles, and administrators have the ability to block users from editing if they repeatedly engage in vandalism.
  • ClueBot NG makes very few mistakes, but it does happen. If you believe the change you made should not have been considered as unconstructive, please read about it, report it here, remove this warning from your talk page, and then make the edit again.
  • If you need help, please see our help pages, and if you can't find what you are looking for there, please feel free to place "{{helpme}}" on your talk page and someone will drop by to help.
  • The following is the log entry regarding this warning: Clignett was changed by Clignett73 (u) (t) ANN scored at 0.957048 on 2012-01-06T16:28:07+00:00 . Thank you. ClueBot NG (talk) 16:28, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates or other materials from Wikipedia, as you did at Clignett, you may be blocked from editing. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 16:31, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is your last warning; the next time you disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Clignett with this edit, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Rm1271 talk to me 16:32, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Some assistance

[edit]

Have a look at Wilkins, Palmer_(surname) for the correct use of articles about a surname. Family trees are never the purpose. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 16:37, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I am new here at Wiki and still figuring out how to use it. I have a question, why can't i delete info on the Clignett page I added? And why is it considered vandalism? --Clignett73 (talk) 16:58, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I responded to your message on my talkpage. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 19:51, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Guidelines as promised

[edit]

I noticed that Admin Salvio has already provided you fantastic guidelines above (first in this page). I recommend that you read what is relevant to avoid any further confusions / issues. I also noticed that Level 4 warning for editing has been used in your case; please be careful of your edits or else your account (or even IP) can get blocked. Feel free to drop me a message on my Talk page if you need some help. Cheers AKS (talk) 19:42, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Arunsingh16, i didn't see his message before i got warned. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.191.101.32 (talk) 20:15, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Heraldry

[edit]

Unfortunately, you use terminology which is utterly different from the standard terminology of English blazoning. "Weapon" should be "Shield", "Tarpaulins" should be "Mantling", "Shield holders" should be "Supporters", just to start with etc. etc. AnonMoos (talk) 00:26, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, for some words i used google translation. It will be corrected.--Clignett73 (talk) 06:45, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You could consult Arthur Charles Fox-Davies, A Complete Guide to Heraldry (1909) at http://www.archive.org/details/completeguidetoh00foxduoft or elsewhere for standard English terminology... AnonMoos (talk) 11:29, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you want that image to stay on Commons, then you're probably going to have to give a real source (e.g. What book is it from?)... -- AnonMoos (talk) 03:12, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's a picture i took from the coat of arms i own. How would you suggest i discribe that as a source?--Clignett73 (talk) 06:48, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for making an attempt, but in its current form it still may not be adequate to prevent the file from eventually being deleted from Commons. I don't really understand what "coat of arms that I own" means, and it certainly doesn't have any standard accepted meaning on Wikimedia Commons. What we're more interested in knowing is: when was it published, who was the artist, etc. If it's a recent commissioned "work for hire", then that could avoid copyright problems, but it looks kind of old to me. If it's old enough, then that could also avoid copyright problems -- but without relevant information, it's impossible to judge such matters. AnonMoos (talk) 11:25, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's why i asked for a suggestion to discribe. It's my family crest and this have been in my family for a long time, so whom ever created it or made I really don't know. I just took a picture of it. And I am possitive the person who made it is long gone. --Clignett73 (talk) 11:45, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any other writing on that piece of paper than the word "Clignett"? -- AnonMoos (talk) 14:49, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You mean on the graphic? No, only my familyname.--Clignett73 (talk) 15:04, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dude, 1) What is the nature of the physical object where the picture which you scanned in is located? 2) Is there any further information on that physical object? Turn it over and look at both sides. If it's in a frame, take it out of the frame. 3) Is there any associated useful, information connected with that physical object (though not physically written on it)? AnonMoos (talk) 15:24, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me, i'm not a Dude. Miss Clignett. Point 1 to 3; Why do you think i replied with; 'No, only my familyname'. --Clignett73 (talk) 15:34, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

("dude" has been considered gender-neutral for over 2 decades) (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 16:27, 8 January 2012 (UTC)Maybe in Engelish speaking countries--Clignett73 (talk) 17:35, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if I'm slightly exasperated, but getting any substantial information out of you is like pulling teeth... AnonMoos (talk) 17:21, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is all the info i can provide about my picture. Like i wrote earlier; This coat of arms has been in my family for a very long time, and i'm pretty sure the person who made it way back ( ca 1740) is not around anymore for me to ask permission if i can use this image.--Clignett73 (talk) 17:35, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
