- I'm thinking of upgrading this article I created back in 2014, and thought if it looks interesting to you I welcome any copy edit improvements. If you get involved to any degree, you could become the GAN nominator and we could share a Good Article credit on it. Just thowing this out.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 22:36, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
- Article looked interesting. I will let you know on whether I have time to do this by Saturday.Cleveland Todd (talk) 21:54, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
- Just by chance do you have the Harv Error detection tool that shows the errors.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 22:39, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
- I do not have this tool and don't know what it is.Cleveland Todd (talk) 21:54, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
- The Harv Error detection tool is something you get from the Help Desk. They give it to you with a set of instruction on how to install. It is a little complicated, so I would think about doing in the future. It detects if you have matched up the book inline reference with the source information correctly. It gives results that looks like this if you have not matched up the two correctly. It's a very handy tool to have, especially when upgrading an article.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 22:34, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
- Doug - I'd enjoy working with you on this project. Let me know when you're ready for copy editing and I'll jump in.Cleveland Todd (talk) 15:37, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- I'm going to go looking now on Newspapers.com for articles on this company. There should be some and I will edit accordingly, giving the news clip as reference.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 16:05, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- I'll play with it today and then let you know when done. You probably can copy edit tomorrow.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 17:39, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- THEN when you think it is ready, just go ahead and nominate GAN - since now you know how to do it. You will get credit as the nominator. You can answer the easy issues and I will handle the difficult issues when the review happens. A subtopic here I think is Computing and engineering. Even after you nominate it, you can still copy edit and make improvements - as it will be some 4 to 8 weeks before a reviewer comes by.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 17:51, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- To me this is what Trussed harv errors look like because I have the Harv Errors tool. I'll be fixing these today.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 19:07, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- This is what it looks like to me with all the errors fixed. It's a very handy to to have and you get it from the Wikipedia Help Desk (it comes with instructions for installing to your PC).--Doug Coldwell (talk) 19:55, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- I'm done with the article. If it is interesting to you, could you do some copy editing and nominate for GAN. Thanks. --Doug Coldwell (talk) 20:39, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- Doug - finished round one of copy editing. I will 'sleep' on it, take a look tomorrow and finish up. Cleveland Todd (talk) 20:35, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- Doug - Finished copy editing. The only suggestion I have is that the last few sentences in the introduction seem a tad detailed for that section. I'd move them if I had a citation. Let me know if the article is OK and I'll remove the GOCE template. Cleveland Todd (talk) 17:08, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- The article looks great! I'll look over the introduction in the next couple of days and see what I can do about finding a citation for the last few sentences and move accordingly. Meanwhile if you want, you can nominate GAN - THEN you will get a Good Article credit (being the nominator) when it gets promoted. I will handle the issues when the review comes up (~4-8 weeks). I don't see the issues being much of a problem, since you have put the article in such good condition. Yes, you can remove the GOCE template as far as I am concerned.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 18:21, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- I am just going to throw this out. You do know that it was Julius Kahn that was the inventor of this technology. The last time I made any edits to the article I created was back in 2014. It was a 6-in-1 DYK on September 16, 2014. Julius Kahn (inventor) article could use some improvements.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 18:54, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- Doug, I'll take a look at Julius and get back to you.Cleveland Todd (talk) 20:33, 23 February 2021 (UTC)\
- Doug - Julius Kahn is an interesting Detroiter. I'll be happy to take a crack at him. Cleveland Todd (talk) 21:05, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
- Happy to hear that, because you do outstanding work. Go at your own pace. Thanks.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 21:40, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
- Doug, great work on fixing all those minor edits for Trussed Concrete. I just saw them yesterday. Thanks. Cleveland Todd (talk) 17:12, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
James Hood Wright discussion
Hi - I moved our discussion to the James Hood Wright article talk page, it seems most appropriate there as it will more easily allow future reviewers and other editors to see the evolution of the article. Regards, --Goldsztajn (talk) 23:33, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

If you want to make a copy edit to this article, you can become the GAN nominator. I've double checked all the references and they are all correct. When the review comes up I will be glad to answer the issues since I am familiar with the article. Of course, you can become the GAN nominator on Julius Kahn. I can handle most of the issues on this one also. When these get promoted, then you will get two GA credits. Thanks. --Doug Coldwell (talk)
- Doug - I'm copy editing Julius Kahn right now; will take a crack at Star when I finish Julius. Cleveland Todd (talk) 13:39, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
- Great. If interested, you can nominate either or BOTH these articles GAN and you then would be the nominator. I'll be glad to handle the issues when it it reviewed and we both will get GA credit when they get promoted to Good Article (which I see as no problem).--Doug Coldwell (talk) 14:15, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
Julius Kahn
- Doug Coldwell I have finished with Julius Kahn; added some interesting stuff; moved some things around. Please take a look and, if it's OK, I'll go for GAN. Then on to Star Watch.Cleveland Todd (talk) 18:41, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- Just took a look at Julius Kahn. Its look great. Thanks! Yes, you can GAN.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 18:47, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

This article I have been improving for the last couple of weeks. Here is what it looked like when I started the improvements on June 7, 2021. It's just been a fun little project for me the last couple of weeks. I have submitted it GAN and hope it will get promoted without to many issues. --Doug Coldwell (talk) 19:54, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
The article was promoted to Good Article today. Thanks for the improvements you made, that helped a lot. I am working off my potential nominee GAN list and improving those articles and then nominating them GAN. If any of those on the list (without dates) looks interesting to you, just do some copy editing for improvements and I will make sure you get a green icon you can display on your User page when it gets promoted to Good Article. I am aiming to get 200 Good Articles by the end of the year.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 14:05, 25 June 2021 (UTC)
- Doug Coldwell Wow. Impressive list. I don't know if I have time to even read all of them, but I'll edit a few and let you know as I complete them. Cleveland Todd (talk) 14:05, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks. An article I have recently upgraded (hopefully to Good Article standards) and recently submitted to GOCE is Charles Mears.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 14:20, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
Vernon Arnold Haugland
- Doug Coldwell Doug, just finished copyediting Vern Haugland. Interesting guy - not from Michigan??? Three questions/comments. I would recommend reverting the graf on "Physical Description." It really seems like padding. Also recommending losing the sentence on the name he used and when he signed up for Social Security under "Retirement and death." Really not needed. Another good article. I wish there were a little more on his Silver Star, after all, it is the third highest honor awarded by the US military. Haugland's being the first civilian to get it is big news.I did a quick check of the citations and could not find more than you had already reported.Cleveland Todd (talk) 15:01, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
- Did those recommendations you suggested. Anything you suggest is very good. I'm going to be gone for a couple of hours, but when I return I will be glad to help out further. When we are finished with these improvements, IF you want you can submit for GAN as the nominator. I will be glad to answer most of the issues when the review comes up. I would like to see you get a green icon credit as the nominator for this article, since you have done some excellent improvements.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 15:22, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
- Doug Coldwell I did find some more Silver Star stuff and added it; also reconfigured the Career section to make the Silver Star stand out. Cleveland Todd (talk) 15:37, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
- Haugland is not from Michigan. Got the idea to create an article on him from Famous First Facts. I created nearly 500 Did You Know articles from "first facts" in Kane's book. I am now working on upgrading many of those past DYKs to GAs. I am aiming for 200 GAS by 1/1/2022.
- BTW, I use Historical Newspapers for references and find it very handy.
- FYI, My full name is Douglas and I got that from MacArthur. I was born in 1945 and my father was in the Army during WWII. What name do you imagine he heard daily while in the service? I was the first born in the family, so received the name "Douglas" as that was the most prestigious name to give to your new born baby son then.
- I expanded the lead a little. I think the article is at Good Article quality now. IF you want you can nominate GAN and then when it gets promoted you will get a green GA icon for being the nominator. I will be glad to solve the issues when it gets reviewed. --Doug Coldwell (talk) 19:43, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
- Doug Coldwell I'll do a GAN. I also added Vern's name to Haugland (name) and added the category:Recipients of the Silver Star.
- On another, related note, Haugland's name does not appear in Silver Star databases like Home of Heroes, valor.militarytimes.com and tracesofwar.com. I will contact them. In addition to the existing citations for the MacArthur bestowing the medal, I found several In the New York Times.Cleveland Todd (talk) 15:18, 27 June 2021 (UTC)

Cartiers
- Can you take a look at Antoine Ephrem Cartier and Warren Antoine Cartier to see if they are potential GANs. Thanks.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 13:55, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
- I upgraded Antoine Ephrem Cartier and felt it was ready for GAN, so submitted it.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 19:17, 24 July 2021 (UTC)
- Doug. I'll look at them this week. Cleveland Todd (talk) 18:06, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
- User:Doug Coldwell Doug - Looked at Antoine E. first - I can upgrade a bit there. Looked at Warren (great eyebrows) today and saw some style/grammar issues. Should I update while it's up for GAN? Or wait? Cleveland Todd (talk) 19:20, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Cleveland Todd: Yes, you can upgrade the Cartiers while they are up for GAN. They are # 14 and #15 of GAN Economics and business and only two have been reviewed so far. It will be several weeks before they will get a reviewer. Do whatever tweaking you feel you like and think is appropriate. I appreciate any editing you do as it is ALWAYS an improvement to the article. Thanks.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 19:34, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
- When the Cartier articles are promoted I am going to add that green icon to your User Page as the action of "helped" as you have done some excellent work. Lately I have been working on upgrading Albert Kahn (architect) and Thomas Elfe which could use some help on improvements for style and grammar. Thanks. --Doug Coldwell (talk) 11:15, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
- I was able to get 24 Good Articles out of my GANs this month. I am aiming for 30 for the next GAN drive and then that will put me over 200 Good Articles all total that I will have.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 18:20, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
- When you are done copy editing Warren Antoine Cartier could you resubmit GAN. I'll be glad to handle most of the issues when it gets reviewed for Good Article. Thanks. --Doug Coldwell (talk) 17:49, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
- If you don't mind, could you copy edit Thomas Elfe House for whatever style and grammar improvements you feel necessary. When finished could you resubmit it for GAN. I will be glad to handle most of the issues when it gets reviewed for Good Article. Thanks. --Doug Coldwell (talk) 17:54, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
- Doug. I will finish Cartiers and do TE House over the weekend.
- @Doug Coldwell: Doug, working on Antoine and am a tad confused. Found this under "Businesses"
- Can I withdraw my GAN (by removing from article Talk Page) and have you renominate it - and in the appropriate category. What category should he be under? I'd like to see you get some green GA icons from all the improvement work you are doing on these articles.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 16:41, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
- Antoine became a partner in the Dempsey-Cartier firm of Manistee in 1873 with Jim Dempsey. The Dempsey-Cartier firm purchased and renovated the Green & Millmore sawmill of Manistee and made lumber from northern Michigan white pine. They changed the name of the company to Cartier & Dempsey.[14] Sometime around 1877 Antoine purchased the Stanchfield mill and considerable timerland and property around Ludington. In 1882 the mill was sold to Butter's Company.[14] Antoine then purchased the shares of the Cartier mill owned by William Allen and George Goodsell and developed the Cartier Lumber Company by 1892.[16]
- Antoine became a partner with D. L. Filer in the large lumbering firm Cartier & Filer sometime around 1878. It operated a sawmill and store. As of 1882 Antoine was half owner of Danaher & Cartier (a shingle mill business) and a member of Dempsey, Cartier & Company at Manistee.[17] Antoine became a large stockholder in the Northern Michigan Transportation Company from 1904 to 1910.[18] Some of Antoine's business axioms were; Pay every working man in cash, and at once when it is due and No orders, no store truck.[19]
Isn't this pretty much the same data we have under "Early Years?" The partnership with Dempsey, the lumber mill, the partnership with Filer. Should we reorganize? I suggest we keep "Early Years" up to the Dempsey-Cartier partnership, then do "Businesses." What do you think? I'll keep copy editing in the meantime. Cleveland Todd (talk) 14:27, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
- Sounds alright with me. Can you reorganize accordingly and place the parts where you think they should go. I'll agree with whatever you think is best, as you have a good feel how this should go. Your copy edit work is excellent and better than I can do. You definitely make the article much better after you work on it. Thanks for your help.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 16:19, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Doug Coldwell:Doug, started on Warren. I think there's enough on his Notre Dame connection - first football team, Cartier Field, Knute Rockne, Board of Trustees for a section of its own. What do you think? I'll be offline for a while - grandfather duty. Cleveland Todd (talk) 15:05, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
- Made a Notre Dame section and placed after the Personal life section. Looks good to me. Copy edit as you see fit. You do good work, so whatever you think should be done is good for me. I like to see that you nominate Warren so you will get a green icon for your User Page. When Antoine is promoted I am going to put a green icon on your user page as "helped" to get the article promoted. Thanks for your great work on my articles I am working on to get promoted to Good Article status. --Doug Coldwell (talk) 16:02, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
Your GA nomination of Star Watch Case Company
- Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Star Watch Case Company you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of MatthewMcFly -- MatthewMcFly (talk) 18:40, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
- As you probably already know GA2 did not meet the requirements and the reviewer suggested it be expanded. That's what I am working on now, while you are tweaking the Cartier articles. Also this will avoid edit conflicts. I'll see what I can find on expanding the article. Then later you can renominate again.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 21:19, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Cleveland Todd: I have expanded the article and will continue working on it to see what else I can find. Would you be interested in renominating the article GAN and then it will be #16 in line in Economics and business and will see a reviewer in a few weeks. I'll be glad to handle most of the issues. FYI, I produced 23 Good Articles this month. During last year's GAN drives in two months that had 31 days each (total 62 days) I had produced 62 Good Articles. I am now lining up several GANs for the next drive and hopefully I can average one Good Article per day during the event.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 11:16, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Doug Coldwell: I'll be happy to, but must point out that there is no criterion for "length" in a GAN. The article must be "broad in its coverage" and address "the main aspects of the topic." I think Star Watch as we nominated it did that, but will go along with you on this.Cleveland Todd (talk) 14:44, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Cleveland Todd: Yes, totally agree with you on the "length" in a GAN issue and that the article addressed "the main aspects of the topic" as it was originally submitted. I don't see the reviewers quantity of reviews or articles created. He even admits to being a newbee. Apparently his editing history starts 3 May 2021. Anyway the issue is definitely covered and can not be brought up again by any reviewer. That's for resubmitting GAN. I will be glad to solve most of the issues when the review comes up. Thanks for your help all the way around.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 15:12, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
Proposal
- I have recently upgraded Alexander Bain (inventor). It is not an article I originally created, but just took an interest in it. Would you be interested in copy editing it sometime in the future for improvements. Maybe you can nominate it GAN or I can nominate it and when it gets promoted after I answer all the issues I can give you a green GA icon as "helped" promote it to Good Article status. What do you think?--Doug Coldwell (talk) 16:56, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
- I nominated the Alexander Bain (inventor) article GAN. If you care to anytime in the future will you take a look at it for any improvements you could make. Thanks.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 19:09, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
- If you think you have the time could you do any copy editing for improvements to the article I created on Joseph Dart and submit GAN. I will be glad to answer all the issues for the GA review. --Doug Coldwell (talk) 19:27, 3 August 2021 (UTC)

Cleveland Todd (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log)) Request reason: I am pretty dumbfounded and upset by this whole thing and would like to return to editing and writing on Wikipedia. I cannot prove nor disprove a negative, but I am not now nor ever have been related to or affiliated with Frost joyce and the other editors listed. I am not a sock puppet. I can dispute the so-called “evidence” patterns. 1. I signed up for editing around the same time as some others. I don't know what this means – the same month, the same day? I signed up for editing in November 2015. 2. There is a timing pattern in my edits. I live in Cleveland, OH in the eastern time zone of the US, along with hundreds of millions of others, some of whom probably edit at the same time. I am also retired; I edit in the late morning and early afternoon. So do lots of other editors. 3. I edited Emergent Biosolutions and several “opioid” articles. Anyone editing about the opioid epidemic should be interested in Emergent. 4. I edited EB-5 programs. True. Immigration is an item of national importance that doesn't get much attention, as is the opioid epidemic. 5. I also am a member of the GOCE and spend many hours copy editing articles for others. There should be a pattern there as well. No one mentioned that. 6. I also do a lot of editing on topics about Cleveland. There’s probably a pattern there. 7. I looked at the list of alleged sock puppets that are connected to Frost joyce and did not recognize a single editor name. Nor did I know or ever read anything written or edited by Frost joyce. It’s possible I’ve done edits on articles some of them edited; I don't know. 8. My edit style is close to others. I hope so. My edit style is getting more and more “Wikipedian” with every passing edit. I have learned to avoid adjectives and superlatives in an attempt to be more in the encyclopedic style of Wikipedia. I spent my career as a magazine editor. I’ve been working hard to revise my style to the Wikipedia style. 9. There are certainly things in life more important than Wikipedia. But I do enjoy it and think it keeps me sharp. I also hope I've made some good contributions. I hope this action adding my edit account to a long list of others will be realized for the unintended error it is. Cleveland Todd (talk) 18:28, 10 August 2021 (UTC) Decline reason: This is a checkuser block, meaning it is supported with technical evidence. If you are not a sockpuppet, you will need to give a plausible explanation as to why technical evidence would indicate otherwise. 331dot (talk) 21:35, 10 August 2021 (UTC) If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. Unblocked
Hi Cleveland Todd - another checkuser raised a concern with my reasoning for blocking you. On review, the technical data I based a significant part of my block reasoning for your account was less than ideal. As I stated in my review, unblocking you is the most reasonable thing I can do in this situation. I appreciate this experience has likely soured your opinion of us, and for that I apologise. I hope you get an email letting you know I've unblocked you and decide to come back and contribute again. Again, my deepest apologies. Kind regards ~TNT (she/they • talk) 22:56, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
