DYK nominations

[edit]

Hi! I wanted to explain a little about "Did You Know" nominations. Articles are only eligible for nomination in a select few situations, typically when the article is newly created, the article was expanded to five times its original length, or it recently attained Good Article status. These would all have to be within the last 7 days as well. There are a few other criteria that an article could meet, but these tend to be some of the most common ones.

Also, you need to be careful when nominating an article. Make sure that the article is well sourced and written. All of the claims need to be backed up with a reliable source that explicitly states the claim - even if the claims weren't ones that you added to the article. DYK nominations can sometimes be fairly difficult to pass, as the article gets placed under a higher amount of scrutiny because the DYK hook will be placed on the main page where it could be visited by hundreds or thousands of people. (You can check page views using this tool, it's pretty neat.) I just wanted to give you a head's up on that, if you wanted to try to expand another article or do something similar to make another DYK nomination. These can be a little tough to pass given all of the things needed for an article to pass DYK criteria. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 17:43, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete DYK nomination

[edit]

Hello! Your submission of Template:Did you know nominations/Dakota Access Pipeline Protests at the Did You Know nominations page is not complete; if you would like to continue, please link the nomination to the nominations page as described in step 3 of the nomination procedure. If you do not want to continue with the nomination, tag the nomination page with {{db-g7}}, or ask a DYK admin. Thank you. DYKHousekeepingBot (talk) 20:21, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
