What is the wiki page link for this topic? Can you list your sources as you have them at this point? Thanks! Ajungle (talk) 04:21, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

After a bit of Wiki searching I found the stub for International Disability and Development Consortium which would be excellent for your topic. Ajungle (talk) 07:45, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Help us improve the Wikipedia Education Program

[edit]

Hi Cleann! As a student editor on Wikipedia, you have a lot of valuable experience about what it's like to edit as a part of a classroom assignment. In order to help other students like you enjoy editing while contributing positively to Wikipedia, it's extremely helpful to hear from real student editors about their challenges, successes, and support needs. Please take a few minutes to answer these questions by clicking below. (Note that the responses are posted to a public wiki page.) Thanks!

WikiProject Disability

[edit]

Hi I'd like to introduce you to WikiProject Disability. We are a group of people who regularly work on articles related to disability. We'd be very happy to help you with your contribution to Wikipedia. Please take a look at the project page and feel free to introduce yourself and your assignment on the project's talk page. Welcome to Wikipedia! Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 16:15, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Just a little note

[edit]

It's generally considered to be a bad idea to reveal your real name on Wikipedia, as you have done on your user page. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 16:27, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Four Topics

[edit]

These are the topics: Disability Aid Abroad, Disability Rights Movement, Disability Athletics, Disability Discrimination Act, Disability Studies, and wikiproject disability

I would like to talk about the rights and treatment of those with disabilities because it is something that is not talked about often.

Disability rights movement, a fundamentally important article, desparately needs more content covering countries and regions outside the United States, the sources you have look like they could be useful for adding content about other parts of the world.
BTW WikiProject Disability is not an article that you can work on, it's a "forum" for discussing and coordinating work on articles related to disability. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 19:18, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Assignment 5- Sources

Wiki 6- Summary of planned changes to article

[edit]

I would like to add more information to the Physically Integrated Dance page I plan on adding a section of other dance companies that are geared toward people with disabilities. My purpose is to give better quality and accurate information to those who visit the page. Adding updated and reliable information is beneficial to the Wiki World and those who visit Wikipedia to learn more about the organizations.

This looks like a viable idea - if you have the sources! Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 19:30, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Another possible source

[edit]

A little book you might find useful:

Charlton, James I. (2004). Nothing about us without us : disability oppression and empowerment ([3. Dr] ed.). Berkeley, Calif. [u.a.]: Univ. of California Press. ISBN 978-0520224810.

Wiki 7- Adding Articles to the Main Space

[edit]

Here are is the information I have added to the Physically integrated dance talk page. I have added information about a dance program in Florida called Dance of the Pheonix that is aimed specifically toward those with disabilities It is a rough draft.

Bay City Ballet Studio located in Largo, Florida is a dance studio that has a program called Dance of the Pheonix that is geared toward people with disabilities. They offer all different types of dance classes such as Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, and Ballet. The program is open to all people with disabilities, whether they be physical or mental. Dance of the Pheonix is about renewal and rebirth and changing the stereotype for those with disabilities.

You forgot to say where you found this information, on Wikipedia everything should have a source, see referencing for beginners. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 19:52, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A few questions

[edit]
  • What is the timing of your assignment, when must it be finished, are there other intermediate deadlines?
  • Is there a specified number of articles you are required to work on?

Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 19:35, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'd really appreciate a reply here, so that I can help you more effectively. Also please feel free to ask me questions, or post at WT:WikiProject Disability where a group of experienced subject editors are very willing to give advice and assistance. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 06:34, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm very sorry that this student has not responded in a professional manner. I will be monitoring and training my students on respectful online interactions for my next course. Ajungle (talk) 06:41, 11 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Assignment-8

[edit]

I plan on adding a citation for the company itself and find one more organization that has dance for people with disabilities.

Here is the citation:

"Dance of the Phoenix, LLC." Dance of the Phoenix, LLC. N.p., n.d. Web. 24 Apr. 2013. http://danceofthephoenix.tripod.com

A web citation must include an actual link to the website. Keep in mind that Wikipedia is not paper. See the Referencing for beninners guide. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 06:27, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Assignment 9- peer review

[edit]

I peer reviewed Jmatthews63 on his Disney Article

Hey Justin, I loved your point of view and the things you had to say about the Disney Company and the way you presented your argument. I did think it was a little one sided. It is best to present both sides, as to not seem bias. Great Job and best of luck on your project!

I also peer reviewed Saifalz

Hi Saifalz

I think your topic is great and you have a really great direction going. I really like your idea of making sure the soldiers knowing more about the culture of the country they are going into. I would just go more in depth about if there is anything being done to start this and mores statistics about the overall topic.

Great job!

Peer Review

[edit]

I like what you are doing with your working on and could end up being a big thing for disabled people in the near future. keep up with the great information. Good Job!!Jmathews63 (talk) 18:37, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Assignment 10

[edit]

I have made the changes that Roger (Dodger67) another wikipedia user has suggested. I added the link to the website for the citation.

I also made changes from when I first started my topic going from a broad topic of disabilities, to disabilities in third world countries, then finally to the specifics of disabilities in the world of dance. I have made the changes that all people have suggested.

thanks!
