I must apologize for ignoring your request for no new messages, but as I have no other way to contact you I can only hope that some day you might read this. I feel it is tragic that someone who has put in as much good work as you have feels that it is better to leave the project that to stick with it. I know it must be frustrating at times, but I feel the larger goal is worth it. You have much more experience here than I do and I am sure you have not come to this decision lightly, however if your main impetus for leaving is the recent unfortunate business with canvassing, I would like to request you wait a few weeks or a month and try again. As I see it the entire process was compromised from the beginning and that the end result was not a reflection on you but on the fact that the results could not be accurately interpreted anymore. It is a blow to the entire project when someone who has worked so hard for such a long time turns away, and whether or not the last vote or even the next vote goes the way you want I sincerely hope you don't loose heart. What we are trying to do here is no less than raising the entire human species to a higher level of being and that will, without question, be a long and trying road. I hope that both of us can stand the stress and disappointments for long enough to see that goal get a little closer to fulfillment. Sincerely Colincbn 02:43, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The irony here is that User:Colincbn gave up "raising the entire human species to a higher level of being" three days later. -Ashley Pomeroy 00:41, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually I didn’t give up I just moved/got married/got a new job, so I had very little time and most of my edits were to fix small typos and things. I did that without logging in in most cases. I'm still here and still feel very much the same (although rereading what I wrote above I have to admit it is a bit over the top), Love and Kisses Colincbn (talk) 09:06, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Clawson! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 14 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. 2019 US Banknote Contest

[edit]
US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here
