Re: Lee Hasdell
[edit]It's important that the record is verifiable as per WP:V. If you have a link to a reliable site which has published his complete record I would be happy to have that added to the article. I replaced the existing record with the one from Sherdog as that is one we can be sure is correct. --aktsu (t / c) 13:40, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- I appreciate your efforts, but some of the stuff on the page is violating Wikipedia policies related to keeping a neutral point of view, being verifiable and is a copyright violation. That's why I have removed and rewritten some of the stuff on the page. I don't want to seem hostile, but the policies are there for a reason. --aktsu (t / c) 14:26, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- You need to familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's policies. My edits are made for the article to comply to them and to generaly improve it. I'm not going to waste my time explaining the edits here as it should be obvious why they were made. Also, I'm not going to edit war with you over the article, and you should take a look at WP:OWN. --aktsu (t / c) 16:25, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
I just reverted to my revision except for keeping the existing mma-fight-record. If you have any problems with my edits, please let me know so we can maybe try to find a compromise. Please don't simply revert it as that's really not getting us anywhere. Thanks :) --aktsu (t / c) 16:46, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- Seems good, only thing is a few sentences (well, only one that I saw actually) isn't really written from a neutral point of view. Things like "he switched from a promising Thai Boxing career". While that might be true, it's still an opinion so it's better to simply omit "promising". Another problem which kind of goes for the whole article is that it isn't referenced. Things like that he is the first and most experienced mixed martial artist in the country need to be sourced to show it's really a fact. WP:Verifiability: "Material challenged or likely to be challenged, and all quotations, must be attributed to a reliable, published source.". I'll search and see if I can find any good sources, and add them as I go :) Another thing is that the Kudo section could probably be removed as there is already an article on it: Daido Juku. Still, good job on the article! There is still a lot of work to do on it so that it adheres to Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:No original research though. --aktsu (t / c) 16:13, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Image source problem with Image:Lee Japan 1-1-.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Lee Japan 1-1-.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:34, 1 September 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Aktsu (t / c) 15:34, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Hasdell again
[edit]Alright, glad to hear it. I really don't want to fight over it, but I don't like seeing you glorifying Hasdell when our aim should be to present verifiable facts in a neutral point of view with no original research. I will restore the cleanup-tags however. Or are you really disputing that the article lacks sources and is not in need of a cleanup? As it stands the article is in need of SERIOUS work for it to meet Wikipedia's standards, especially when it comes to the tone in the article and citing reliable sources. --aktsu (t / c) 01:49, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
The thing is thre are few reliable sources, this is why i can not refference. Most of the information come from me and and from the information i have personally. I have tried not to glorify Hasdell but i have not lied when saying it was spectacular or that it was a close defeat for example. They do it on most Wikipedia articles. Thanks.ClaudioProductions (talk) 16:48, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Hans Nijman
[edit]A tag has been placed on Hans Nijman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. AcroX 01:29, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Hasdell
[edit]Why do you keep removing the {{articleissues}}-tag? It's there for a reason. Also, take note of Wikipedia:Overlink if you want to know why the links to England, Japan etc. is removed. Cheers, --aktsu (t / c) 21:21, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
- And, you should try to find reliable sources for all unsourced claims in the article. Sometime in the future I'll start moving unsourced claims to the talkpage until they can be sourced. I understand they can be hard to find, but having *.tripod.com-pages and such as a page's primary source is simply not acceptable. Not saying what is there isn't true, but it's not acceptable as a source here. Thanks! --aktsu (t / c) 21:43, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
How many times do you want me to tell you! There is no sources, everything is fact. Most of the information is direct and i have used wikipedia as a way of getting this information on the internet. Why are you so bothered about this page ? is it your job to clean wikipedia ? ClaudioProductions (talk) 17:32, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
- And how many times must I tell you of Wikipedia's policy of verifiability? "Material challenged or likely to be challenged, and all quotations, must be attributed to a reliable, published source." and "The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth". Unless you can prove the claims on Hasdell's page they should be removed as unverified. Again, "The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability". How would I or anyone else know what's true or not otherwise? We can't just take your's, or a random blog's, word for it. --aktsu (t / c) 18:56, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
I have just added a few more links to the page. Also i put the tribute video back as a link, as it does give some visual evidence for Hasdell's mixed martial arts record. Fights against Scott Dobbs, Paulo Di Clemente, Andre Mannaart, Sean McCulley, Peter Dijkman and Kenichi Yamamoto which do not appear on sherdog because their database is incomplete. Losses to Masayuki Naruse and Yasuhito Namekawa also do not appear on there. There is a link on here called Fighting Network Rings and it is a good reference for his mma record. As for the other claims, i am trying very hard to find refferences because some of the information is unknown to the internet. I can only give information based on my inside knowledge and conection to him. I will continue to search for resources, so keep an eye on this page and see if i have updated it with references. The only thing i can say is that information and claims are 100% truth, though i do understand i need to prove that. ClaudioProductions (talk) 20:48, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
- I've rewritten and sourced the majority of the MMA-section of the page on User:Aktsu/Sandbox (very much work-in-progress), and most of it is OK. The biggest problem for the section is, as you say, the Oktagon-event which I can't find ANY sources for whatsoever. Other than that, can you agree with the section as it is written there atm?
- The biggest problem for the article is probably going to be the kickboxing section though. I haven't looked at it yet, but going from what I've found up til now (not much :\), I'm not sure what to do with it. "Exceptional claims require exceptional sources", and all his championship-fights sure are exceptional claims. If we don't find anything, I don't think we have any other choice but to remove them. Do you have anything to indicate his kickboxing success? All the article I've read only talk about him in terms of MMA. Is there something on the sfuk.tripod.com-site? Anything is better than nothing.
- Besides all that, some sources for the "Martial arts background"-section would be nice but is definitely not a priority. I can live with the Japanese Rings-event page as a source since it's all we got, so no problems there. With a rewrite I believe the events/criticism-section can turn out good, especially with the excellent article you just added as a source. Hmm, think that about covers it... --aktsu (t / c) 07:39, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
Undoing edits
[edit]Please explain to me why you just undid all my edits to the Hasdell article? I took great care not to remove anything significant (meaning, info not adding anything to the article) from the page, even unsourced bits, so I'd very much so like to hear your reasoning. --aktsu (t / c) 02:05, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
Well it is not presented as well. It seems to contain more mistakes. date of birth for example. In fact it is less reliable then my version. please can we just use my version as I find more sources. Him being my father, I take this page very personally. I understand where your coming from but because I know a lot about him and his career its not like an average fan etc lol. So it bothers me when the page gets changed away from my liking. ClaudioProductions (talk) 21:27, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
- First of all, in that case you have a conflict of interest and should not be editing the page in the first place. Secondly, if you have a problem with my edits, tell me what the problem is and don't just revert. In my view, my edits made the page more neutral, helped source the page, included fact-tag where necesarry and even included prose for fights the existing text didn't. Please point out exactly what the problem is so we can resolve this without edit warring. If the birth date was wrong, then correct it! It was taken from Sherdog and sourced as such. I see now that the K-1-page has the December birthdate, so we'll just use that if it's correct then. I really, really doesn't appreciate it when my hard work is simply dismissed without explanation. Realise I want nothing but to improve the article to meet Wikipedia's standards. Also, while I'll be assuming good faith in that your conflict of interst doesn't impact your editing (or won't anymore - I seems to remember a time when Hasdell's losses were all "unfortunate" and "unluck" etc.), I'll probably bring it up on the COI noticeboard to get more opinions it. Thanks. --aktsu (t / c) 02:01, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
I dont appreciate my edits being reverted either. (or won't anymore - I seems to remember a time when Hasdell's losses were all "unfortunate" and "unluck" etc.) all ? there were about 3, and they were but i took that off just to meet the standards.

Edit warring
[edit] You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Lee Hasdell. Conflict of interest: an explanation
[edit]If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Lee Hasdell, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
- editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
- participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
- linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
- avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
Basically, even with the best of intentions, it is impossible for you to maintain a truly neutral point of view about somebody like your own father. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for businesses. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 16:48, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

- That is a commercial website; it fails as a reliable source. --Orange Mike | Talk 18:50, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
Claudio, can I ask you what's so wrong with the lead that feel compelled to change it? Both I and Theserialcomma was OK with it on the talk page. Also, as I've said previously, since you have a COI everyone would appreciate it if you'd discuss changes you intent to make - especially big and most likely controversial ones like completely rewriting the lead removing sources and all. --aktsu (t / c) 18:59, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
oh it "fails as a reliable source" its just the same BS everytime, who decides whether it is a reliable source or not ? I am ok with it apart from the part where it says "some of the first mixed martial arts events in the UK" and "one of the first British fighters to compete in Japan"" instead of first. But when ever i find a source for, it is not reliable! It is really rediculas now, i have seen so many pages using the same websites as me, its unreal. Maybe you should look in to them instead of targeting this one all the time. ClaudioProductions (talk) 22:08, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- There are templates to use when an article lacks solid sources, and as an editor you can place them anywhere you feel the sourcing is not solid (and we'd appreciate it if you would). However... WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is not a valid argument for keeping anything on Wikipedia. --Orange Mike | Talk 22:17, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- even though WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is not a valid argument for keeping something, i went to the 'search' field on wikipedia and typed http://www.mmauniverse.com to see how many other articles actually used this unreliable source. actually, the other few articles that have mmauniverse use it only for its pictures, not as a source for content. so even though WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS doesnt make something ok, in this case, it's not an accurately parallel situation anyway. Theserialcomma (talk) 06:37, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
I was actually referring to SFUK website. ClaudioProductions (talk) 17:18, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
Assistance
[edit]Hey, how are you doing? I'm actually not here to complain about the Hasdell article this time, so don't worry :P I was wondering if you could help me out with something; I'm looking for sources to verify Darren M. Jackson's listed fight record. Do you happen to have a magazine with results, or even just participants in "Cage Warrior Strike Force" 1 and 4, "Pain and Glory 2005", "UK MMAC 9" or any of the listed Valhalla events? Sherdog has only got UKMMAC 6 and 8, and when I looked up the CWSF-events not even a live report of the event mentioned Jackson, neither does any results from it even though it was actually pretty well covered. I know how you feel about Sherdog's fight finder, but in this case I'm thinking it's actually correct. If you were able to shine any light on the situation if would be very much appreciated. Also, you don't happen to have "Fighters Magazine" for February and June 2004? The article is pretty much based on those articles but I've not been able to aquire a copy. Cheers, and thanks in advance even if you don't find anything :) --aktsu (t / c) 14:21, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
Hi i am very well thank you. i will have a look for you, if i do not have any magazines, i will try and search the net. Yh sherdog does not have all of the events, which is a shame. I hope they eventually add them, especially the RINGS ones. I am going to split Hasdell's record up into MMA, shootfighting and shootboxing, as they are all diferent rules.
p.s. i'll try my best to find sources for Darren M. Jackson's record ok.
thanksClaudioProductions (talk) 16:30, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
I have just looked at his page and it looks to me like they are ameture fights. It all seems a bit confussing, but i'll have a look. ClaudioProductions (talk) 16:35, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, I've listed them as amateur because I'm unable to confirm them. It's strange because he's listed as fighting at two Cage Warriors events, but neither any results from the event nor coverage from people watching it live at the event reported him fighting. On the talkpage the one who added the record claims it might have been tryout-fights or similar, which sounds strange to me, but then it's not professional fight in any case. If you were able to find any of the offline sources that would be awesome. I can't really ask you to go the the library and check if the have the magazines there for me, but if you happen to stop by one maybe you could take a look? Thanks alot :) --aktsu (t / c) 16:55, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
Hello, i have looked around for information on Darren M. Jackson's fight record. I do not think these are pro fights and it does seem weird why he would have all these try out matches before turning pro. It just does not happen in MMA, you have semi pro and pro. Anyway, SFUK links keep getting reverted on the Lee Hasdell page by Theserialcomma. It is enoying me because i want someone to explain to me why it isnt a reliable source. It has so much valid information on UK fighters and is the first mma website in the UK, what makes the website unreliable ? thank you ClaudioProductions (talk) 15:23, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 23:42, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Tn2 tupac resurrection 1.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Tn2 tupac resurrection 1.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

Replaceable fair use File:Namekawa.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Namekawa.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 05:00, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Knee.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Knee.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

The file File:Lee hasdell pic.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Low-quality image; Lee Hasdell has a better image already
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ♠PMC♠ (talk) 04:29, 30 November 2019 (UTC)
