My Change
[edit]I put the name of the victim that got shot on March 4, 1958 as Joe Pepitone because it was Joe Pepitone so I don’t understand why it wouldn’t get accepted ClappedCuck (talk) 03:45, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
- Can you cite a reliable source to verify that? Joe Pepitone is a well-known name
, and the article about that person does not mention any school shooting victim of the same name. —BarrelProof (talk) 03:55, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Pepitone Last paragraph in Personal life it says so. Sorry if the link doesn’t work i’m Pretty new to this ClappedCuck (talk) 04:02, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you. I have re-added it to the article along with that citation. Sorry for misunderstanding your edit. And happy editing! —BarrelProof (talk) 04:21, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
- I struck out the part of my comment above that said that the article about Pepitone doesn't mention the shooting – it does. I was looking for a hatnote about some different person with the same name. It turns out the victim was the MLB player himself. —BarrelProof (talk) 20:02, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
George Faulkner
[edit]Can you please cite a reliable source for your edit of George Faulkner (ice hockey)? I also suspect that the grandson is not notable. Did Faulkner have other grandchildren? Why should this one be mentioned? —BarrelProof (talk) 04:29, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
I can’t reply for some reason so I will like this: https://www.thetelegram.com/sports/hockey/by-george-that-was-fun-131418/ A link to a News article saying they played in a parents vs kids game, I know the exact birth date because my son played on the team and I talked with George Sr. -ClappedCuck
Thank you for responding. That article is helpful. I plan to follow up in the next couple of days to add a citation to that in the Wikipedia article about Faulkner and refine the wording. By the way, I also suggested for your account to be unblocked. Like me, I think someone else got the wrong impression about the nature of your editing. Unfortunately, it is common to encounter people who want to edit Wikipedia just to vandalize its content, and sometimes we may jump to incorrect conclusions. Your choice of a username might be part of the problem. I suggest to read Help:Getting started. —BarrelProof (talk) 15:20, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
- I received a response to my suggestion to unblock your account. It seems that you will not be unblocked unless you follow the instructions given below about how to request that. Good luck! —BarrelProof (talk) 15:26, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
I’m unblocked! I’d really like to thank you for standing up for me. FancyDry (talk) 01:18, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

A Bit Harsh
Decline reason:
I don't think it was harsh at all. None of your contributions have been productive and your username is totally problematic. Yamla (talk) 18:07, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
I understand what I did and I won’t do it again, but this is my first mistake from what I know. I also made the account the day it got blocked so i’m fairly new to Wikipedia, and I just happened to make a mistake. I didn’t mean to harm anybody and it resulted in my account getting blocked. I think it would be fair if I had another chance. ClappedCuck (talk) 17:28, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
- Administrator note I am the blocking admin. I am willing to give the user another chance, but they will need to create a new username due to some concerns raised. They must review the WP:username policy and once they’ve decided on a new name they are instructed to insert
{{Unblock-un|user=new username|reason=your reason here}}
at the bottom of this talk page, ensuring they replace the text “new username" with your the proposed new name with reasons and publish the page. The user must note I cannot effect the name change as a global renamer or steward must do so. He or she may still decline the rename request for their own reasons, which they will communicate here when making any decision. NJA (t/c) 19:10, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
How to change username
[edit]I think my username has to do with my block, I would like to know how I can change it so that it won’t be a problem. ClappedCuck (talk) 19:12, 3 May 2019 (UTC)

I am changing my name which is what was wanted and I have been given another chance from the user that blocked my account. ClappedCuck (talk) 19:33, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
- Why do you want to user name "Clammers"? What is that supposed to mean? ~Swarm~ {sting} 19:58, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
- Sorry if this is an impertinent comment, but why would this person need to explain their thinking? I see no apparent problem with that name, and usernames aren't required to have a meaning. —BarrelProof (talk) 20:13, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
- A clammer is a person who digs for clams. Clam is slang for female genitalia. —Wasell(T) 20:38, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
- I might have accepted "Clammer"(not the plural) if not for their current username which also is a reference to genitalia. Please replace that choice with a new one and try to choose one that does not reference genitalia or other subjects inappropriate for a public forum. 331dot (talk) 21:53, 3 May 2019 (UTC)

Comment from a non-admin observer
[edit]I am disappointed by the lack of adequate consideration given to ClappedCuck here. I also made similar remarks at User talk:NJA and User talk:Yamla, and they both seem receptive to the idea that perhaps the situation can be remedied with further attention. I think they did not adequately study the user's edits. In the response to the first unblock request, Yamla said "None of your contributions have been productive", and that is simply false. The user's edits to both List of school shootings in the United States and George Faulkner (ice hockey) have been constructive, as has been their interaction in discussions on this User talk page. That is most of their entire edit history, so it should matter. When pressed, they successfully provided citations to independent reliable sources to justify the edits. That is not the behavior of a vandal. Clearly, they are new to Wikipedia and not familiar with its customs, but they are making an effort, and that should be appreciated. At first, I thought this person was a vandal too, but I discovered otherwise after discussing their edits here on their User talk page. I have cleaned up the edits for the List of school shootings in the United States and George Faulkner (ice hockey) articles, and I am convinced that they were not only good-faith edits, but are also valuable contributions to Wikipedia. —BarrelProof (talk) 19:50, 3 May 2019 (UTC)

Moving on from here
[edit]FancyDry, I hope you prove worthy of the confidence I have expressed in you. Several people have now devoted a substantial amount of time and attention to your case on Wikipedia, and I hope it is not wasted effort. I will try to keep an eye on your future edits to see if you need some further assistance. You may also place a note on my User talk page at User talk:BarrelProof, or you can request assistance by describing your needs here on your own User talk page and adding "{{Help me}}" next to it. Some instructions about that can be found here. I encourage you to study the conventions around here. A good place to start is at WP:Getting started. —BarrelProof (talk) 22:16, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
Unsourced
[edit]Hello, I'm Yamla. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Armed and Dangerous (song), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. --Yamla (talk) 14:37, 25 May 2019 (UTC)
