Troubleshooting Wikipedia's look and feel with skins

Wikipedia should function and look right in any web browser. However, depending on the layout of an individual page and the Wikipedia skin set in your User preferences, a page layout might be broken in your browser. If the problem occurs on a single page, edit the page to fix it yourself. If you cannot fix it, put a message on the Talk page for the page (a screenshot always helps!). If the problem occurs on all pages, try a different skin. Your browser might have some minor issues. These are listed at Wikipedia:Browser notes.

Are you a paid editor with a conflict of interest?

[edit]
Information icon

Hello Clansietsai. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, and that you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to Black hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Clansietsai. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Clansietsai|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, please do not edit further until you answer this message. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:45, 18 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

In response to the message above:

Hi Cwmhiraeth, thank you for reviewing the page I edited and thank you for the constructive advice. To clarify, I have no connection to the subject I edited. I started to edit simply because I found the original page deleted several months ago when I was collecting relevant materials for my project, and then it happened to become a chance for me to contribute to my field. I will be more careful with such issue when next time I make more edits on Wikipedia. Many thanks and best regards. Clansietsai (talk) 12:01, 18 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Ole Bouman

[edit]

Hi, I'm Cwmhiraeth. Clansietsai, thanks for creating Ole Bouman!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. You should not remove tags unless you have dealt with the problem.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Cwmhiraeth (talk) 12:53, 18 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Cwmhiraeth: Hi Cwmhiraeth, thank you so much for the message. I'm still so new to wikipedia. Please forgive me for any inappropriate edit. Hopefully, the experience gets better and better after several more edits. I wouldn't realize the tone of the uploaded texts sounds much like advertising if you didn't point it out. I will be very happy if there's any advice to help improve the page or any experience you'd like to share regarding editing wikipedia pages. Many thanks and best regards. Your draft article, Draft:Ole Bouman

[edit]

Hello, Clansietsai. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Ole Bouman".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Dolotta (talk) 16:34, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Dolotta: Hi Dolotta, thank you for the message. Unfortunately, when I got there, it was already deleted. But, still, thank you very much for the information and the guideline. I will try to restore it following the instructions. Happy editing!
