A tag has been placed on Cislo & Thomas LLP, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. CosmicPenguin (Talk) 04:11, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cislo & Thomas LLP

[edit]

Hello CosmicPenguin,

I wanted ask to see if you could check over the entry regarding Cislo & Thomas LLP. I understand how it looked like a blatant advertisement in the beginning, but i'm doing what i can to make sure it is a successful addition to Wikipedia. I want people to know the firms history and clients, but obviously within the limits of allowances by wikipedia. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks,

Sure. The most important thing is that the article is verifiable and that it demonstrates some notability or uniqueness. Currently, the article doesn't really assert any notability, and doesn't list any reliable sources outside of its own website. What you need are some neutral and reliable sources discussing the company and why they are notable. A long list of clients are listed, but clients usually don't confer notability, unless the firm represented them in a high profile case (which would be normally covered by third party sources). Some guidelines you might want to read for more information are: WP:V, WP:N, WP:RS, WP:COI, WP:CORP, and WP:SPAM. Looking over the article now, I doubt it will qualify for a speedy deletion, but I will leave the tags up until an admin gets a chance to look at it. If the speedy is declined, then you will have a bit more time to finish the article, but be forwarned that articles in these states can be nominated for deletion at any time. Thanks CosmicPenguin (Talk) 06:25, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, sorry - while I was typing that, an administrator looked at the page and speedy deleted the article. I recommend that if you start a new article, that you create one in a sandbox first and then move it to the main article space when you are ready. For double security, you can ask for opinions on the article at the Village Pump or on the help desk. I have put a welcome tag at the top of the page with more resources. The article was deleted as a copyright violation since it is copied directly from your web site. So, you should have a copy of the material. I strongly suggest that you follow the advice above concerning WP:V, WP:N, WP:RS, WP:COI, WP:CORP, and WP:SPAM, especially WP:COI before you try to create an article about your company. The better advice is that you should avoid writing about your company. Vegaswikian (talk) 08:24, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Like I said, it was deleted as a copyright violation. It had nothing whatsoever to do with the article layout. Just because another article exists, is not a justification for some other article to be kept. It is not uncommon for articles to be on the wiki for a while before someone notices that it probably needs to be deleted and nominates it for deletion. Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 02:08, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
