Edit request

[edit]

Hello. I'd like to request some updates for the Scientific WorkPlace page https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Scientific_WorkPlace. We're Scientific Word Ltd., the UK distributors of this software for MacKichan Software. Here are our suggested edits:

1. Opening line: is a software package for scientific word processing on Microsoft Windows *and Mac* 2. Right hand panel: the current version is v6.0.26 (March 23rd 2017) 3. Right hand panel: Could we ask that you add a link to our page http://www.sciword.co.uk/scientificworkplace.htm 4. External links: Could we ask that you add a link to us, Scientific Word Ltd and our website http://www.sciword.co.uk, distributors in the UK and Ireland 5. Further information you might wish to use about the latest version 6.0 is on our page at http://www.sciword.co.uk/v6-0.htm.

Thanks a lot. Do feel free to Email us: christopher@sciword.co.uk for any clarifications.

"Us" and "we"

[edit]

Hi. Many of your comments refer to "us" and 'we". Would you please clarify who "us" and "we" are? thx Jytdog (talk) 23:25, 5 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Jytdog - not sure where you intended me to reply. "We" and "us" refers to the company Scientific Word Ltd., of which I (Christopher Mabb) am a director. We are distributors in the UK of the MacKichan Software family of programs (Scientific Word, Scientific WorkPlace and Scientific Notebook); our website is www.sciword.co.uk. If i had wanted you to answer at the article talk page i would asked the question there. i moved your answer here.
User talk pages like this, are for discussing general matters or user behavior. article talk pages are for discussing article content. my question was not about article content, so I asked it here. Please read WP:TPG which describes these matters.
About the "we" thing. Sometimes people arrive at Wikipedia and think they can share accounts, and use 'we' to refer to the multiple users of the account.
If there is a single user of this account, please use "I" and please refer to the company as something else.
There is a bunch of stuff that you don't appear to understand about Wikipedia - about what it is and how it works. I have added our standard 'welcome' message above, which has links to help you get oriented. If you like a more narrative explanation, please see User:Jytdog/How, which I created to help people from companies understand this place. Please have a read and let me know if you have questions about WP or its policies and guidelines and your place in all that. Jytdog (talk) 02:44, 6 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Jytdog - thanks for your courtesy and helpful links. I appreciate being pointed in the right direction! Christopher Mabb (talk) 23:23, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

you are welcome. Jytdog (talk) 23:32, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
