Information icon Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. This is just a note to let you know that I've moved the draft that you were working on to Draft:Photo Start, from its old location at User:Chrisc5234/sandbox. This has been done because the Draft namespace is the preferred location for Articles for Creation submissions. Please feel free to continue to work on it there. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to ask me on my talk page. Thank you. Sulfurboy (talk) 00:53, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Chrisc5234. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Chrisc5234. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Chrisc5234|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. GSS💬 04:10, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, GSS. I'm a volunteer for Photo Start, not a paid employee.

This does not appear to be true; you are a freelancer employed via Upwork. Even if it were true, volunteers are still expected to disclose their conflict of interest. Yunshui  12:46, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've barely heard of Upwork, let alone worked via their platform. How do I disclose my interest in a way that allows the article to be approved?

Request reason:

This is my first wikipedia page, and I didn't know how to disclose that I was a volunteer for the organization I created a wikipedia page for. Please unblock my page, and I can disclose my status in the correct area

Decline reason:

No thanks. If you wish to write about subject areas for which you have no conflict of interest, please tell us what those are. Yamla (talk) 21:12, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I'm an unpaid volunteer for a charitable organization. I'm creating a wikipedia page to help the mission of the foundation. How can I publish the article while disclosing my conflict of interest? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chrisc5234 (talkcontribs)

I'm sorry, we aren't interested in what the organisation wishes to say about itself. If this is your goal here, this is the end of the line. Wikipedia is not like other sites. See WP:NOT. If you wish to help the mission of the foundation, you should use social media and your own website to do so. If you wish to write about subject areas for which you have no conflict of interest, feel free to request another unblock. --Yamla (talk) 21:46, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Could another person finish the draft so that the conflict of interest isn't present? Photo Start is a charitable organization, and I'd hate for their mission to be harmed by my inexperience dealing with Wikipedia guidelines.

MfD nomination of Draft:Photo Start

[edit]

Draft:Photo Start, a page which you created or substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Draft:Photo Start and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Draft:Photo Start during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Your draft article, Draft:Photo Start

[edit]

Hello, Chrisc5234. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Photo Start".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! UnitedStatesian (talk) 03:00, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
