Welcome!

Hello, Carl Tristan Orense, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of your recent edits to the page Josh McDermitt have not conformed to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and has been or will be removed. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or in other media. Always remember to provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Wikipedia also has a related policy against including original research in articles. Additionally, all new biographies of living people must contain at least one reliable source.

If you are stuck and looking for help, please see the guide for citing sources or come to the new contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask a question on your talk page. Again, welcome.  NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 16:17, 17 March 2018 (UTC)

Hello, I'm TheSandDoctor. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Zandar, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. TheSandDoctor Talk 23:58, 18 March 2018 (UTC)

Information icon Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living (or recently deceased) persons, as you did to Josh McDermitt. Thank you. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 10:27, 25 March 2018 (UTC)

  • Please read through our guideline on reliable sources and policy on how to handle biographies of living people before you continue to edit these articles. We require content added to a biographies of living people to be reliably sourced. On Wikipedia, a reliable source needs to be staffed by professional journalists, have editorial control, and demonstrate a history of fact-checking and issuing corrections. The IMDb is specifically mentioned in our guideline as unreliable; its content is user-generated, making it generally unsuitable as a citation on Wikipedia. Random websites that purport to describe facts about celebrities are fairly common, but these are also often not reliable. Famousbirthdays.com has been found to be unreliable, too, mostly because we have no idea where they are getting their information from. In a biography of a living person, it is best to stick to only the best sources available; these would generally include reputable newspapers (but not tabloids), magazines (but not gossip magazines), books from reputable publishers, interviews from credible websites (again, preferably not tabloids, which sometimes fabricate interviews), etc. If you can't information from one of those sources, it's best to simply not include it at all. Please stop adding unreferenced or poorly referenced biographical content, especially if controversial, to articles or any other Wikipedia page, as you did at Sean Gunn. Content of this nature could be regarded as defamatory and is in violation of Wikipedia policy. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. A tag has been placed on Avengers Assemble 2.5 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. 2A02:C7F:963F:BA00:90FF:7FD4:D55D:9D0E (talk) 08:37, 22 April 2018 (UTC)

National varieties of English

Information icon Hello. In a recent edit to the page Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (film), you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, India, or Pakistan use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the original author of the article used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk. Thank you. Adam9007 (talk) 23:38, 4 May 2018 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Brawl Stars, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Android (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Dear Carl, as a gesture of minimum cooperation I would at least have expected a good reason for your deletion of obvious improvements. Please explain. -- Kku (talk) 09:51, 6 June 2018 (UTC)

Speedy's declined

Hi Carl Tristan Orense. I'm just letting you know that I've declined two of your speedy deletion tags on User:Result KK and User:Result KK/Draft of article Ergo Group. The former is a COI declaration (a {{paid}} template would be preferable, but what's there is an acceptable disclosure). The latter is more borderline - if it was in article space I would have deleted it, but in a userpage it could conceivably be a valid repository of information for later edit requests. As such I've removed the speedy tags on these two pages for now. No criticism of your tagging is implied; I'm simply letting you know. All the best, Yunshui  09:03, 24 August 2018 (UTC)

(moved from Result KK's userpage): I might be slightly blunter than Yunshui, who is universally known for their courtesy and gentle manners.
Thanks for your enthusiasm in pursuing promotional edits, which is a great curse of Wikipedia and needs all the attention it can get. But please be careful in tagging pages that are clearly not promotional, like the WP:DCOI notice you tagged as promotional in this instance. Notices like this are an important part of keeping track of editors legitimately editing for pay or editing with a COI. Indiscriminate tagging of these notices is not helpful in either catching the real undisclosed paid editors or encouraging companies to do the right thing by declaring their accounts.
In passing I've also declined a couple of your recent AIV reports, including for IP accounts that haven't edited in days and named accounts that were tagged with a level 4 warning after just one borderline edit. Vandalism is also a curse, but reports like some of these also can drive away legitimate new editors.
So the short version: thanks for helping out in catching spammers and vandals, but perhaps slow down a little with the borderline cases, and recheck the policies. -- Euryalus (talk) 07:04, 25 August 2018 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination

Hello Carl Tristan Orense, I am aware that there may be a conflict of interest in my work on Wikipedia. That's why I haven't made any changes so far, except for the updates you have undone in the article Ergo Group, but have created a draft. This is the translation of an article from another Wikipedia, which I will be happy to adapt to the needs of the English Wikipedia. I won't publish any of it without letting an experienced wikipedian look at it. I will follow the recommendation of Serial Number 54129 in the "Welcome!" article on my talk page. Maybe you'd like to give me some feedback on the draft of the article? It is not my intention to promote the company, but to present the company’s structure and history as it is done in articles about companies as Walmart, Apple Inc. etc. Thank you very much. --Result KK (talk) 10:36, 24 August 2018 (UTC)

Review2018 at UAA

Thanks for your report to WP:UAA. Letting you know I've declined the posting of the username "Review2018" as it's not an obvious breach of the username policy. You indicate you consider it promotional, but nothing in the name or the edits indicates what it might be promoting. If you have further information that would support taking action re this username, please let me know on my talkpage. -- Euryalus (talk) 06:11, 25 August 2018 (UTC)

Addendum: thanks also for the posting of "Report KK" but per another editor's comemnts on that page: based on the userpage, I think "KK" is an individual's initials and the username therefore falls under the "Mark at WidgetsUSA" exception in the username policy. -- Euryalus (talk) 06:12, 25 August 2018 (UTC)

Why did you change my edit on WP:AIV? Denisarona (talk) 10:35, 10 September 2018 (UTC)

  • Denisarona Just noting as an observer that you cannot force another editor to respond to you. It doesn't appear that they have edited this page at all. That said, no one should be changing your comments on talk pages/noticeboards. 331dot (talk) 09:27, 30 September 2018 (UTC)

Please stop your WP:2SHORTCUTS editing spree and discuss such edits first

What it says above. The idea that only two shortcuts should be listed was introduced to WP:SHORT without prior discussion and has largely been ignored for ten years. It's clear that this is not consensus because no page outside this guideline followed the rule. As such, your edits are not productive and remove shortcuts unnecessarily. Before continuing, please discuss this in a wider forum, such as an RFC. Regards SoWhy 11:16, 11 September 2018 (UTC)

Stop editing my comments.

You have been here long enough to know not to edit other peoples comments. This is clearly against WP:TALK. If you do it again, I'll take it to ANI. - R9tgokunks 05:17, 14 September 2018 (UTC)

Hey Carl, your editing comments was brought to my attention and I also noticed that you created User:Serols here. Again, I don't think it's good form to be editing other people's userspaces in this way. I trust that these were good faith edits, but they are problematic. Please let me know if you have any questions. Best, Airplaneman 08:29, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
Hello Airplaneman, thank you for the information, I did not realize that. Carl Tristan Orense please refrain that. --Serols (talk) 10:45, 14 September 2018 (UTC)

Editing out shortcuts

Hi Carl Tristan Orense. I noticed that you've been swapping out the links to policy shortcuts at WP:HERE to the full links, like this edit. I'm not sure this is necessary. The shortcut already redirects to the policy page, so editors who click on the links will be taken to the right pages. I feel that the benefit of spending time on this isn't worth the cost of adding unnecessary lines to revision histories and watchlists. Thanks, Mz7 (talk) 20:52, 18 September 2018 (UTC)

Hey Carl, I see you have continued after Mz7's message. Why? The way I see it, it's a waste of everyone's time. Airplaneman 04:22, 22 September 2018 (UTC)

UAA

The UAA board is "for usernames that are such blatant and serious problems that they need to be immediately blocked". I've noticed that with at least some of your reports, it is not immediately clear what the issue is, and in some cases, there isn't an issue at all. If you think a username is potentially a violation, you should first discuss it with the user and then start a discussion at WP:RFCN. Only clear violations should be reported to UAA; it also helps if you point out exactly what the issue with the reported name is (i.e. why a name is promotional). Thanks 331dot (talk) 09:04, 21 September 2018 (UTC)

I would add to my above message that a username should not be reported unless it has edited(or attempted to edit if they trip the edit filters). There are many reasons someone might register a username and never use it; if they never use it, no time needs to be wasted on action against it. 331dot (talk) 09:04, 30 September 2018 (UTC)

Piece of advice

I don't know if you read when someone reverts your edits or you are just stubborn, but I am gonna repeat myself this time in your talk page. ONLY update the episode count for television shows when the episode started airing or already aired. I hope you read this and that advice sinks in now!Hotwiki (talk) 08:35, 24 September 2018 (UTC)

Most of your reports to UAA are either not violations at all, or are unclear at best. Please review the username policy carefully. 331dot (talk) 11:14, 8 October 2018 (UTC)

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

Hello, Carl Tristan Orense. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

Stop updating the episode count so early

It should only be updated once the latest episode already aired or started airing. You will be reverted and possibly be reported the next time you do this. Ypu have been told not to do this and you cleary just ignored it. Stubborn much? Hotwiki (talk) 08:15, 23 November 2018 (UTC)

Pending changes protection

Hi. I noticed you made the edit for Visa requirement for Ukranian citizens [1] You have removed the protection. The article was attacked and the defense was needed, I hope that attacks will not be repeated. Thanks.

Please pay attention to another page. Visa policy of Russia. The article was attacked a long long time ago. But there is still protection. I believe that the article should be open for editing without restrictions. If you have an opportunity, I ask you to consider removing irrelevant protection. Thanks. Have a nice day. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.252.45.165 (talk) 13:55, 26 November 2018 (UTC)
