License tagging for Image:MaRSBuildingPlan.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MaRSBuildingPlan.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:10, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Image tagging for Image:MaRSatrium.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MaRSatrium.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Orphaned non-free image (Image:MaRSBuildingPlan.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MaRSBuildingPlan.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 12:39, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome

[edit]

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. I hope you like the place and decide to stay.

I would like you to read the policy about neutral point of view and the policy about adverts, as I think your edits on MaRS Discovery District[1][2] did not conform to Wikipedia policy. Once you have read the those policies, I'd like you to edit MaRS Discovery District again-- and adjust it so that it conforms with policy, i.e. re-insert the criticism and make the language so that one cannot mistake it for an advertisement. If you're associated with MaRS, I would like you to also consider the conflict of interest guideline.

Here are a few general links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date.

If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Nephron  T|C 01:00, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work on the MaRS article. :)

Personally, I still find the article a bit laden with business suit verbage. Also, I find the premise of the centre (and the article) rests on the assumption that commercialization of research should be the ultimate goal and leads to more progress, when the drive to commercialization (and cash in), paradoxically, appears to have had the opposite effect: less innovation[3] and a slowed dissemination of new technology (as it is more expensive due to time-limited state-sponsored monopolies --patents, copyright).

The fact that public-private partnerships (P3s) are considered to be controversial barely has mention.[4] While MaRS hasn't had a lot of media attention, it isn't much different than the Pearson airport deal (from the last federal conservative government), the Liberal promise to stop P3s for hospitals [5] and grumblings about Highway 407.[6][7]

In any case, I think it has got significantly better and the pictures are nice. A note about style: headings are lower case after the first word (e.g. "External links", NOT "External Links"). Nephron  T|C 16:45, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Mars logo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mars logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:38, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
