repeatedly inserting your own name into the encyclopedia

[edit]

Its highly egomaniacal of you to be inserting your name into articles in the photo credit. While I have not found a part of the WP:MOS that expressly forbids it, and I have no desire to get in an revision war, I will ask you to stop because it reeks of vanity. It is perfectly reasonable, and in fact expected, for you to put your name on the image page itself. Cornell Rockey 16:21, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Photo credit for real world images

[edit]

Yes, all images should contain a photo credit. The photo credits normally go on the image pages, however, not beneath the thumbnail versions in the captions. This is not a hard rule, but simply a Wikipedia style convention to avoid lengthy captions in articles. Occassionally credit is given in captions, but generally only if the photographer is notable and mentioned in the text of the article. For example, "This famous photograph of the Empire State Building was taken by Andy Warhol." Kaldari 22:43, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: 76.200.101.62

[edit]

- Well, it's hard to say what's going on with this user. It's not obviously vandalism, so WP:AIV isn't the place to report it. I've left a message on the user's talk page; perhaps he or she will be able to provide a source for the edits. -- Merope 03:29, 15 March 2007 (UTC) +[reply]

- :I could be misreading your post, but it sounded a bit sarcastic. I understand all too well that it's hard to navigate Wikipedia's complicated system for reporting abuses. Some admins and experienced editors are making some pages that will explain the process for dealing with disruptive or questionable editors; perhaps that will make things better. You might also want to make a note on the talk pages of the relevant articles regarding those stat changes--they may need to be reverted, if the previous version was sourced. Please let me know if I can help further. -- Merope 03:57, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

- ::I actually like helping newbies! As long as they're genuinely interested in helping the project.

- ::And, holy! I just looked at your userpage and your photographs are incredible! We're really lucky to have someone like you working for us! :) -- Merope 04:16, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

[edit]

Thank you for making a report on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators are generally only able to block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize even after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you! ST47Talk 13:40, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

sorry about Romeo and Juliet revert

[edit]

Hello, sorry about reverting Romeo and Juliet just after you did. I have a bunch of tabs open, and I reverted without refreshing that particular tab. --Kyoko 02:26, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reverting vandalism on my userpage

In-under ten minutes! --DanMP5 | contribs 01:11, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I would have done the same thing. Anyway, I wasn't monitoring Wikipedia until now. And my userpage would have probably stayed messed up like that until I seen it if you hadn't reverted it (nobody ever looks at my userpage much). --DanMP5 | contribs 01:49, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at my message above, it might not have come out right. What I meant was if you hadn't reverted the vandalism on my userpage, it probably would have stayed messed-up for five hours until I seen it and reverted it. --DanMP5 | contribs 03:23, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would be happy if you used my HTML codes. I can't believe I actually made something that looks good (check the history of my user page, it used to look very bad). --DanMP5 | contribs 03:45, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. You might like to know that I didn't delete it. Someone's put an amazing amount of work into that, and even though I might disagree with it, it is thought-provoking and excellent writing. After all "if liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear." I believe that the world's getting better, and people are good at heart. I do like the pictures that you have taken, they're wonderful and seem to capture true spirit. I just wonder why some people see such darkness in the world and its citizens...

Thanks for cleaning up the vandalism on the above article. I now have it on my watch list so hopefully I can stay on top of it before it gets to such a stage again.--Mattinbgn/ talk 04:34, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your Pictures...

[edit]

Are amazing!!! I love them! They are truly amazing, you are a great photographer. Have you considered entering any to be featured pictures? I believe that nearly all of them would make it. If you don't mind, I would love to submit some for you. You can respond here, but my Talk Page would be best. I would love to help you with that. - Hairchrm 03:58, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Based on this logic...no one should take a picture of anything man-made...lol. The image captured a moment in time on a store front door. Wikipedia is not worth the effort. Chitrapa 12:22, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
