Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Bhargav Sri Prakash

[edit]

Thank you for your post on my talk page.[1] At Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Bhargav Sri Prakash, I see https://www.facebook.com/YourFiveStepstoUSStudy/info as one of the references.[2] I know you put a lot of time into the draft, but spending a lot of time to summarize website that are not Wikipedia reliable sources will work the opposite of what you hope. If you want the draft approved, the easiest way is to use only print newspaper, magazine, and books as sources and put each source in the Template:Citation. Also, you write "Bhargav Sri Prakash has been an inventor and designer". You personally concluded this by looking at his patents. That is called WP:SYNTHESIS and is not allowed. I also suggest not linking to pages where Wikipedia does not have an article. By creating those red links, you are saying that each meets WP:GNG and that it is only a matter of time before someone creates an article on the red lined topic. -- Jreferee (talk) 15:40, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I will clean up the article further. I need to learn about Template:Citation! Thanks again for your advice and willingness to help me out. (Chippadum (talk) 20:11, 19 November 2013 (UTC))[reply]

Small problem with your article

[edit]

Hi Chippadum, there was a technical issue with moving your article Bhargav Sri Prakash. It ended up that there were two versions of the article at once, and after they were merged some errors appeared in the citations. It's nothing you did, but since you're the one who has all the sources, you'd be the one who'd know what citations go where. Feel free to come back to the help channel or the help desk or contact me on my talk page if you have any questions. Howicus (Did I mess up?) 18:39, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not a problem. Thanks for your help in the first place. I will fix the citations manually. (Chippadum (talk) 18:44, 26 November 2013 (UTC))[reply]

  • Thank you for your post on my talk page.[3] I added banners to the article talk page. The ordering of the references does not make a difference. You usually only need one source for a fact. I usually write biographies by using information from the oldest sources first. The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation is a non-profit foundation and does not specialize in publishing information. Bloomberg News specializes in publishing information, so I would have picked Bloomberg over Kauffman Foundation to source the fact. Prakash serve as a Fellow of the Education Ventures initiative of the Kauffman Foundation, so Kauffman Foundation is not independent of Prakash. I would not have used Kauffman Foundation since it was not independent of Prakash, even if Kauffman Foundation met Wikipedia's meaning of "reliable source." Also, your applying a standard of "reputable sources" does not appear to be how Wikipedia reviews sources. The Bhargav Sri Prakash article now is in Main Space and no one has listed it for deletion, so you are looking OK (likely the article will be a permanent part of Wikipedia). As you write other Wikipedia biographies, continue to strive to only use (1) independent, (2) reliable source, (3) hard print (newspaper, book, magazine) sources. -- Jreferee (talk) 21:53, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. File permission problem with File:Shilpa Architects Global Design Headquarters.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Shilpa Architects Global Design Headquarters.jpg, which you've attributed to Shilpa Architects Digital Archive. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 21:25, 23 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

image deleted

[edit]

Hi, I've had to delete File:Sheila Sri Prakash 2015.jpg as the licence on flickr is a non-commercial one that is incompatible with hosting the image here. Please note that only images that allow both derivative works and commericial use can be counted as freely licensed here - Peripitus (Talk) 08:32, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Peripitus, Thank you for pointing out the license requirements for images acceptable on Wikipedia. There are multiple versions of the same photograph on the flickr site. I would like to submit for your reference the link at https://www.flickr.com/photos/114061274@N07/16137815698/ which allows derivative works and commercial use. Can you please let me know if that instance of the image would be suitable? If so, would you be so kind as to advise me about ways to restore/re-upload the image to Wikimedia? Thanks for your help and guidance! Chippadum (talk) 13:16, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:FriendsLearn.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:FriendsLearn.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 11:05, 14 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

BrigadierG (talk) 18:42, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Kumari Sheila Arangetram with Padma Bhushan Dhanvanthi Rama Rau.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
