A brief history and understanding into the PyratePunx movement:
[edit]PyratePunx is a world wide non-profit collective/club of punk rockers that mostly put on underground punk community music and events for there local and aboard scene. They have helped many bands local and touring in both in and outside of there network. They are committed to keep the punk movement to the ideas roots of community and not faceless mainstream corporate quick money agenda. They the PyratePunx work hard to keep there community together and honest, the founders over a decade of time and experiences of booking punk shows believed and still do in there community and united to help there bands away from self serving "play to pay" venues who take advantage of people and bands. They as well felt strongly about freedoms, the right to gather and the pursuit of happiness which comes from the American Constitution (which is borrowed from pirates articles of agreement), but is badly deluded. Dissatisfied from main stream government and corporations that cater to the rich and privileged, tiered of the oppression of society and the sub-human treatment of there ilk decide that it was time to stop talking about unity within there scene and put words in to action. Like pirates of old they stuck up there own Articles of Agreement and started doing things there own way. On September 13th Year of no Lord 1997 they put on there first event on Ocean beach on a big concrete slab in San Francisco. A guerrilla generator event with no permits, "permits, who needs stinking permits". The first event did have the police show up and they broke up the show. Out of the thirteen bands twelve played and the police broke it up on there last song, the thirteenth band showed up when the last of the gear was being loaded, they where late, but they where able to play and party the night away at Captain (now Chief) Blackdawg's house. The event was concerted a success. Captain Blackdawg is now called Chief Blackdawg on the account that to date of February 1st, year of no lord 2010 that the PyratePunx now have 34 world wide chapters of crews and are still growing. Chief Blackdawg is the main founder of PyratePunx. When the forming of other PyratePunx crews it was suggested that Blackdawg should be called King, as in king of the pirates. Even though pirates of old and punx of today like to mock regular popular society in there dark sense of humor ways Chief Blackdawg rejected the notion of tittle of King and went with the tittle of Chief which is a more honorable tittle and tribal, the PyratePunx consider them self's as a extended family. Chief Blackdawg is also known as Marcus "DA" Anarchist, a punk rock flier artist and a punk show organizer for over a decade prior to the starting of the PyratePunx movement. "It is highly honorable thing to have been placed to be a Chief of rebellious people who do not follow blindly and do not trust people in leadership positions very easily." It should as well be noted that PyratePunx do not follow the notion of pirate or punk in the sense of the Hollywood movie industry. "This is not a act, this is life"! Pirate of old and Punks of today even though are century's apart are "cut of the same cloth", Both tiered of overly regulated oppressing governments, corporate thieves and having there family, friends and them selves treated like mindless sheep and not being treated with respect as fellow people. As well both Pirate and Punks dress funny (insert laugh track here) and different to set them selves from normal society. Most Pirates and Punks where/are humble and honorable folk, they are just very sick of the lies and abuses of the mainstream. In a way this movement is the closest thing to a political party or a religion that most PyratePunx would deal with. Most PyratePunx try to not associate with political party's or religious concerns. Keep it real, punk D.I.Y. and D.I.T. (do it yourself, do it together) community is our choice of lifestyle. As well I like to ad the PyratePunx that from time to time they throw on benefit shows to help raise money for worthy community causes.
PyratePunx like to provide safe community show spaces for people of all ages to go and unwind and have some fun away from the shackles of regular life and socialize and rawk out. PLEASE no fascist, racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic bullshit. we're all about bringing people together in a safe autonomous zone- not tearing others down based on societal isms and phobias.
Libertatia to the PyratePunx is a annual punk camping gathering where bands play and crew as well people from the punk community go and socialize, network and party. It is a all free community event, bands play for free, no one gets paid for set-up and brake down and such. The event is usually three days, a Friday, Saturday and a Sunday and there is a Libertatia "Food not Bombs" set up that serves 2 free meals a day for each day of the event, plus one more for the clean up, break down folk. Money and resources for this free community event is helped by collecting donations through benefit shows throughout the year prior. "All for one, one for all"!
