Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.
If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}}
on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.
Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any dicussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD!
Categories
[edit]I just thought you should know that you cannot really change categories to ones that do not exist as you did in the Cleveland Torso Murderer. The categories are already in existence. Before changing, you should check that they actually link to articles or other pages (if they show up in read, they don't). I just thought you should know for future reference. Killers From History
[edit]Stop putting articles into categories that don't exist like Category:Killers From History. I'm going to revert all of your edits and if you continue, you may be blocked. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 17:43, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Chicagoboy3, what you're doing is very unhelpful. Please stop replacing valid categories with nonexistent, misspelled ones. If you have questions about how categories work, please ask us, but stop what you're doing. TomTheHand 19:05, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
- I have deleted the page Category:Killers From History. This category:
- Duplicates Category:Murderers
- Was not named according to naming conventions
- Was being manually edited by you to have article links, which is not how categories work.
- I suggest you read Wikipedia:Category to learn a great deal more about categories before you attempt to create one yourself. You may find Wikipedia:WikiProject Categories very helpful also. KillerChihuahua?!? 19:12, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Please stop vandalizng
[edit]Your putting articles into categories that don't exist like Category:Killers From History is just malicious vandalism, so please stop. I did not check all of your contributions, but those I did check were all malicious, and plainly stupid, adding categories that don't exist, and vandalizing the article. If you are going to contribute, try doing something constructive. old windy bear 01:01, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
