Date formats
Per MOS:DATETIES and WP:CITEVAR, please use MDY in U.S. articles, especially those that already use that date format in citations. SounderBruce 22:01, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- @SounderBruce: I use the auto filler for citing sources; is there a way to change the default setting? ChessEric 22:34, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- Simply don't submit the edit until you've gone back and fixed it. I'm not sure what Autofiller you're using, but you are responsible for making sure your edits are consistent with project guidelines. SounderBruce 23:22, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- @SounderBruce: The auto filler is through Wikipedia itself. I always use that. I'll do better in the future. ChessEric 23:25, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- @ChessEric: after using the tool, you can edit its output. Many of those tools perform an inconsistent job because they can't parse every single source used and output perfectly consistent content. So even when I use one, I always end up fixing things like date formats, capitalization (we don't use all caps on Wikipedia), correcting things like missing information or malformed information, etc. Sometimes, honestly, it's just better to craft a citation by hand from the start to get consistent output. - @Imzadi1979: True, although I normally don't have time to check up on everything due to trying to do my schoolwork as well. ChessEric 03:47, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

Amtrak section order
I want to apologize - my revert comments were rather on the rude side. Your edits were clearly in good faith and did not deserve gruff.
In regards to section order, I think what I've done with the Ethan Allen Express is a good model for Amtrak routes. History sections make a lot more sense once a reader has the context how where the route goes. Equipment is probably a variable - some routes will only need a paragraph or two; some routes with a longer history may need equipment under a separate level 2 heading. - @Pi.1415926535: Its alright; I've been there so I completely understand. My thing was consistency, but your point made sense; the revert was more to tell you why I did that. I agree with you that the route description should come first; in fact, now that I think about, I'm not sure why the Amtrak route articles are structured like they are. That's something we should bring up on the project talk page in all honesty.
- On a side note, your username is cool. XD ChessEric 22:54, 2 February 2024 (UTC)
- I think it's a product of how the articles developed over time - for a lot of stations and routes, the history section was added early on, while route details / station design weren't added until later (if at all). I've changed a lot of station articles over, but not many route articles yet. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 01:19, 3 February 2024 (UTC)
TN SR 278 Demolished?
Is Tennessee Highway 278 demolished? I’m not sure that SR 278 was demolished or not because of the rerouting of US 78. 69.1.59.248 (talk) 00:38, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
PDF refs
Hi there ChessEric – I saw your edit summary when adding the TCR ref for Katia. If you want to use a PDF as a ref, then you can use the address of the PDF as the URL in whichever citation template you're using, and add format=PDF as one of the inputs. Interstate 20 Extension (New Info)
@ChessEric Ever since I sent a tweets to NCDOT, when you now search “I-20 NCDOT“ or “Interstate 20 NCDOT” or “Interstate 20 North Carolina,” you can now find documents that weren’t in search results before the tweet was sent about I-20 extension. More coming soon in the search results. According to the now public searchable search result documents, it happened at the end of December 2009 probably after governor Mike left the office. When did Mike left the office in what exact date in 2009? It is related to NCDOT’s current projects, upgrading US 74/US 76 into a freeway from Chadbourn to Wilmington (beyond I-74/not Myrtle Beach) and the Hempstead bypass (future US 17 bypass). Maybe there is hope for the I-20 extension after all. The tweets I sent to NCDOT got a lots of views ever since it was posted from a small Twitter account’s perspective. I think this new public document info needs to be added to the history section of the I-20 page and the proposed extension section in the I-20’s SC page.

- UPDATE: I research the I-20 searches, it’s no longer searchable. It looks like NCDOT made it private again. But the documents links above is still working. 2600:1005:B0CF:49F7:5842:8635:879E:758E (talk) 14:12, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
- First off, what you did was inappropriate. Doing reverts to get a person's attention is unnecessary and rude. I didn't HAVE an answer for you yet and am not obligated to answer anything on my talk page anyway, so don't do that again.
- Second, I'm not into politics, so I don't know what governor left which office at what time when it comes to ANY state. Look that up yourself.
- Third, and most important, why are you telling me all this info? If you found the documents, then put in the info you find; no one, including me, is stopping you from doing so. I will say, however, that said tweets getting a lot of views means nothing to me since, as far as I'm concerned, it can be from a small group of people looking at the tweets repeatedly. - Sorry and about that, wiki doesn’t take let me to add a topic on I-20’s talk page even in I-20’s sc page talk page. The talk page says only main people of wiki can add a topic or edit on the talk page. Please or get someone else to unlock that back, so this doesn’t happen again. Also because of that, I had no choice to put on yours. Sorry for your interpretation, I just need attention for awareness of any update to be spread in talk pages. Again, I’m sorry. 69.1.59.248 (talk) 22:54, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
- Really? I didn't know that. That's actually kind of stupid that you can't add topics to the talk page. Can you edit on the page itself?
- Also, sorry for snapping at you. I have a short temper at times.
- Imzadi1979 Can you help me with this? ChessEric 23:01, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, I’m really sorry. I can edit the I-20 articles, but can’t add topics to I-20 talk pages. Again, I’m deeply sorry. 69.1.59.248 (talk) 23:10, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
