LHS panorama

[edit]

About the picture size... Agreed. However, making a thumbnail of such a wide panorama seems equally silly -- It makes the picture so small that you can't see anything anyhow, so might as well leave it as just a bare link. I'm not quite sure what the solution would be for that, except perhaps to only use part of the picture, and link the full one from somewhere else after all. In any case, I can at least fix up the distortion, if not the lighting differences, though I won't have the time for a couple days. You can send them to Bbik1 (at) lycos (dot) com. -Bbik

Well, a bit later than planned, and not the greatest ever, but... Image:LHSpan.jpg. Completely forgot about the overwrite/update link, so it's a whole new picture, but oh well. Ended up cutting off the parking area/grass at the right, and a little from the left, so it's not quite so wide and shows up a bit better as a thumbnail, even if it does drain out all color. -Bbik 01:24, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wow! Thanks for catching that! Can't believe I went to Hanover High and didn't even notice it wasn't showing up :) -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 04:16, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Londonderry

[edit]

Hi, Cheque some! I've reverted your change to Londonderry, New Hampshire and wanted to explain. All 220 towns and cities in NH have a standard format derived from WP:CITIES. While there's been a ton of discussion about inhabitants / natives / residents, the NH towns are standardized with "inhabitants", mostly because "resident" implies a legal recognition (which summer visitors don't have) and "native" implies "born in" which is, again, not always true. Just thought I'd leave a note :) Happy editing! -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 03:49, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

But don't you think inhabitant has the connotation of someone currently living in the town? I think maybe something like Inhabitants (Past and present) would be the best.
cheque_some 01:59, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're right that there's a connotation there. Usually, though, when one looks at the list and sees someone born / died in the 18th century, that connotation is dispelled :) Plus, it's just a connotation - "notable inhabitants" doesn't really specify a timeframe. Personally, I prefer the shorter version. And since all 220 cities and towns in NH have been done by that standard, I wouldn't want to have to change them all. :) -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 02:21, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New Hampshire communities by household income

[edit]

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article New Hampshire communities by household income, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. Nevermind, it was already subjected to prod once, I'll route it through a more formal channel. TableManners 02:50, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:LHS Seal.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:LHS Seal.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 16:52, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adrianne Wadewitz Memorial edit-a-thons

[edit]
Adrianne Wadewitz edit-a-thons in Southern New England

As you may have already heard, the Wikipedia community lost an invaluable member of the community last month. Adrianne Wadewitz was a feminist scholar of 18th-Century British literature, and a prolific editor of the site. As part of a worldwide series of tributes, New England Wikimedians, in conjunction with local institutions of higher learning, have created three edit-a-thons that will be occurring in May and June. The events are as follows:

We hope that you will be able to join us, whether you are an experienced editor or are using Wikipedia for the first time.

If you have any questions, please leave a message at Kevin Rutherford's talk page. You can unsubscribe from future notifications for Boston-area events by removing your name from this list.
