The reason I split it is that they are two different rivers and in different provinces. One is a tributary of the Gourits River (see map Gouritz WMA 16 of its area) and the other is a tributary of the Gamtoos River (see map Fish to Tsitsikamma WMA 15 of its area) and this is made very clear in the text; already at the top it says This article is about the tributary of the Gourits River and This article is about the tributary of the Gamtoos River respectively. There is a map as well showing that they are many miles apart. If they would have been the same river, I would not have created a new page; the bot sent its message while I was working on it. Xufanc (talk) 09:02, 1 April 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the explanation. I found it confusing (as you can tell) but that may be due to the fact that I was trawling through the history following the copyright bot alert. The attribution to the history of the original page is still valid, though.--CharlieDelta (talk) 09:12, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
The original article was a mixture of the two rivers even though their mouths are... no less than 300 km apart! and I have been driving in those coastal roads and, believe me, it is a long distance. The original article began: The Groot River is a river in the Eastern Cape and Western Cape provinces of South Africa. It is a right hand tributary of the Gouritz River. (the Gouritz is east of Jeffreys Bay in the Eastern Cape), but then it continued: The Touws River tributary rises in the Matroosberg, Hex River Mountains, and those mountains are in the Western Cape! and it was the information corresponding to the Gamtoos (the Gamtoos is west of Mossel Bay... in the Western Cape!), not the Gouritz. I set things straight by splitting the articles, cutting and pasting and putting every information correctly where it belongs.Xufanc (talk) 14:53, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
I understand that they are two rivers. Thank you. I think it would be helpful if you could add this explanation to the respective article Discussion pages. If there had been some indication of the reason on the Discussion pages and/or in the edit summaries when you made the content split , everything would have been much clearer for those, like myself, unfamiliar with the geography of the area. The attribution element is still important, of course, as it is a requirement that the history of the page content remains available, even after it has been moved to another page. Finally, I would like to suggest that you consider using a sandbox when developing new articles which are going to need a lot of tinkering before they are ready for public viewing.--CharlieDelta (talk) 21:23, 1 April 2012 (UTC)

The page was changed to a dab page. Would it be okay to undo the changes on this page and possibly blank Patrick Mason (director)? The move was not done properly and there does not seem to be a need for the dab page as the other article can be indicated at the top of the page. All the pages that link to Patrick Mason relate to the theatre director. Cjc13 (talk) 21:37, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

I see you've made the change already. Personally, I don't really have a strong view on this. My main concern was to ensure that when the text was copied to a new page it was correctly attributed. Perhaps your question could be directed towards to the contributor who made the move in the first place.--CharlieDelta (talk) 18:14, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for highlighting the changes which have now been reversed so all text and history is at Patrick Mason with addition of hatnote for Patrick Q. Mason. Cjc13 (talk) 21:54, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for clarifying about the copyright. I had not realized the difference between "CC-BY-SA" and "CC BY-NC-SA" and had assumed that, as they were a Wiki that copied from the original article, it was free from copyright. I'll be more careful next time. Eugeneltc (talk) 21:42, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Cut-and-paste moves

Hi, CharlieDelta. Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. Here's a suggestion for you -- when you find that someone has done a "cut and paste move", as you did at Kevin field, please list it at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen so that an administrator can merge the histories to fix the problem. It's also better not to edit the "old" page after the improper move, because doing so makes the history merge more complicated. Thanks. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 16:58, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Apologies. It was flagged as a WP:SCV and I must have edited the wrong page by mistake. Thanks for the reminder.--CharlieDelta (talk) 20:06, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Children's lit?

Hello both, I am also interested in children's lit. Are you still active in this area? Shuford2000 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shuford2000 (talkcontribs) 02:11, 7 June 2016 (UTC)

Greetings, CharlieDelta. I'm a pretty new editor who's been working on articles relating to children's lit, especially the Newbery, and feeling a little lonely. :) I've visited the Child's Lit Wikiproject several times, but there doesn't seem to be any activity on it, so I'm putting out feelers to find some other folks working in the area. If you are, and you have time and inclination to occasionally chat with someone else, maybe answer a question or two, please stop by and say Hi. If not, well, I understand. Thanks for letting me take some of your time. Tlqk56 (talk) 14:31, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

Hello! Thank you for your mnessage on my Talk page. I am still interested in the Children's Literature Project and am happy to keep in touch or help if you have any questions. I haven't been around much recently due to a major off-wiki project I'm working on which is using up most of my free time but I'm bound to be back in the not too distant future. I'm not checking my watch list every day at the moment but a message on my talk page will always reach me. Is there anything I can help with right now?--CharlieDelta (talk) 05:27, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply, CharlieDelta. Believe me I understand that life isn't only about WP. It was nice of you to get back to me so quickly. I'm finding most of my general questions can be answered quickly at the Teahouse, but sometimes I wonder about things directly related to books or children's lit, and right now I don't have anyone to check with. For example, I stumbled into improving the article about one of my son's favorite authors (when he was about 10-12), and I'm starting it here: User:Tlqk56/John R Tunis. But I'm really caught wondering what the best way to organize the article will be, how much to talk about separate books, and whether I should start separate articles on some of his books, though I don't think they're all notable, and I'm not sure I want to get into that. Is there a rule of thumb on how much to talk about someone's books? Any suggestions at all?

I kind of have the opposite problem here, User:Tlqk56/New'y Authors where I'm trying to get enough info to start an entry on a Newbery Honor winner. So far I only have the year he was born, and the plot of his books. I don't like stubs, my main activity has been improving stubs to start or C class, but in this case, if there's really no more info about him, would it be better to have a stub or continue to leave it out? (Eventually I'd like to see all the Newbery entries and writers with good, solid articles. But I doubt I'll live that long. LOL)

My basic problem is I don't have anyone to talk these issues over with. If you have any suggestions on these or any other things I'm doing, I'd love to hear them. Thanks again. Tlqk56 (talk) 16:35, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

Azulejo

Dear Charlie Delta. I included a gallery of 20th Century works in the page Azulejo but it has been removed. I had planned adding images by other artists as soon as I had proper photos (I took great care with the first 4 images). I believe the inclusion of these works helps understanding of the way Azulejo has developed in recent times... How do you feel about that? (Thanks for the Palolo suggestion; as soon as I have time, I´ll expand the pages on portuguese artists; for the time being all I can do is to create and expand these pages on portuguese Wikepedia - please take a look at my user's page: Usuário:manuelvbotelho). Many thanks.Manuelvbotelho (talk) 16:43, 23 June 2012 (UTC)

The article Runemarks has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article has a single independent source, searching online yielded nothing that would help establish notability for the article; article's subject fails WP:GNG and WP:NBOOK.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. I have a copy of the book, so do you mind if I added to your sandbox to "fill in the gaps"? Jakob 20:56, 11 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi. I'm not actively working on that at the moment, I'm afraid. Might be better to work on the main Curious George (book) page.--CharlieDelta (talk) 10:13, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
Alright, just a suggestion. :D --Jakob 14:54, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

Razor Sharp

I noticed you essentially deleted the bulk of my article. Just so you know I contacted the film creator before posting anything here and had him proof read it as well.

Next time please contact the author of a page, before taking such drastic actions.--Cube b3 (talk) 03:06, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
