Template

[edit]

Hi. When will your template be ready for adding to articles?

Do you plan to create one template for all kinds of robots?

Have you seen Infobox robot template? Will you replace it with yours?

Can I help you somehow? Danim2 (talk) 02:05, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi
Due to a recent conversation at template talk I have it on temporary hold. I have used it on a couple of pages though.
I am planning to do several version. One for robots, one for UAVs and one for non-spacecraft off world missions, such as Mars rover.
The original idea was a big one that would use deletable sections for the different types but it seems that there may be opposition to my efforts (as pointed out by another editor)
I suspect that it will be another 2 weeks or so before it is ready for us to use on the first set which would be Robot competition robots only. This is because there is not really any overlap with any templates other than the "Infobox robot"-a pathetic thing which is why I started the Robotics project ones in the first place-and Template:Infobox combat robot (started without any info being passed to the project and without any other discussions it seems) and used on some articles such as Razer (robot). I will let you know when I feel we can start.
The first tests were Deadblow and one which I have forgotten where I put it lol.
As I mention, there is a problem of overlap with already existing templates which will need to be fixed before general use so please try and wait, any attempts to use it widely will mean two things, a problem with "you knew we didn't want it used" and if we use it we will have to keep chaning them as I develop. Ok, I'm not urging you :-) It's important for me, because I'd rather add introduction and template with robot's informations when creating new robot articles, then write whole articles (at the moment). Then it will be easier to automatically generate robot lists and maintain them, using those templates. Danim2 (talk) 13:16, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
