Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Change Science Institute", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it seems to be the name of an organization. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 18:43, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! We are trying to retrieve an article that was deleted so that it can be edited. If we create a new user, will we lose that opportunity since the article was under this username? What is an acceptable user name - no company names or person names? Thanks!

You can review the username policy, but to summarize; a username cannot be solely that of an organization, as a username must identify an individual user and not suggest more than one person is or could use it. It can include the name of an organization if you wish to identify yourself as part of one, such as "Joe at Change Science Institute". If you request a username change, your edit history will be transferred to your new name. 331dot (talk) 18:57, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
To clarify further, you don't need to use your real name if you don't want to; you just need to use a name that only you will use. 331dot (talk) 19:00, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You must modify your username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Change Science Institute", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Trammel Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Mark at WidgetsUSA", "Jack Smith at the XY Foundation", and "WidgetFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a username change that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you.
