Hi! I consider it absolutely okay, mainly for two reasons.

  1. It is important to know what publisher published the books, whether it was e.g. OUP or an only locally significant publishing house.
  2. Stating the name of the publisher gives the information more credibility. You can easily go and find the books online. (Giving the ISBN would be even more appropriate.)

Furthermore, his user page doesn't give a positive review of the books, nor promotes them in any way; it's only a list. Thus, I can't see any commercial usage. On the contrary, it's interesting and relevant information about the user, because you can find out more about his fields of expertise. Thanks for uploading Image:Ustad Bahadur Khansahib.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Kalyan Mukherjee

[edit]

Hi Chandronandan. I have created the disambiguation page Kalyan Mukherjee, which contains links to Kalyan Mukherjee (musician) and Kalyan Mukherjee (politician). These article titles look a lot neater and are more concise than the previous titles, and are in accordance with Wikipedia's naming conventions.

I have also included a link to Kalyan Mukherjee (writer), although no article on him currently exists. Do you know anything about him? I found him on List of Bengali authors.

Please reply on my talk page if you'd like to discuss the matter any further!

Regards, — riana_dzasta wreak havoc|damage report 11:56, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also noticed that you edited Category:Indian musicians in order to add Bahadur Khan and Kalyan Mukherjee to the list. This isn't how you categorise articles, for future reference... in order to add an article to a category, just type [[Category:Name of category]] at the bottom of the article, and it will automatically be placed in that category when you save the page.
Cheers, — riana_dzasta wreak havoc|damage report 12:00, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Chandronandan, thanks for getting back to me :) Regarding the Vasant Rai article, I'm not sure what's happening there; I've seen the name pop up on many sarod related articles, which means that he is either genuinely well known in the western world, or it's somebody out for publicity. The official website obviously doesn't help with getting a good picture of the guy :) I'll tone the article down and see what information I can find about him. Thanks, riana_dzasta 11:51, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

VASANT RAI

For your help on Annapurna Devi.Bakaman Bakatalk 16:37, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ok chandronondon, so you're a student of Ashsishdas sister! And you learn sarod. You should ask Aashishda who vasant rai is!!! You should be embarrased by NOT knowing your senior gharanadars!! Also you should go to Vasant rai's site AND see what Ali Akbar Baba and Ravi Shankar has written about him. Not only that, on his website there is a picture of Vasant Rai playing a duet with Ravi Shankar!!!!!!!!! do you know Baba allaudin sent Vasantji to america to help aliakbar baba spread his music!! Its a shame the younger generation have no regard or for that matter intrest in senior musicians. i dont mean to be harsh but need to point this out to you. regards Anjana

Excuse me but whom are you talking to. I do not learn Sarode. But it is just not a fair thing to provide unreferenced articles at wikipedia. Someone may be great, or may not be - that's not my business as a wikipedian. As a wikipedian, my business is to see that unreferenced articles should not exist here. And that's it. Whoever one is, and however great one may be, a biography on him/her should always be referenced. What will you say to User:SmackBot when he/she puts an unreferenced tag to your article? Every article should be referenced. And go ask your people and be confirm that you are making mistake about my identity. I do not learn Sarode. Neither do I belong to a young generation!!!

Thank you for your being polite anyway.

While I don't doubt that Vasant Rai is certainly a well-known sarod player, I feel compelled to remind Anjana about Wikipedia's neutral point-of-view policy. Statements like 'one of the world's best sarod players' should be avoided, as I'm sure that there would be many willing to dispute that claim. Since you seem to know a great deal about the subject, Anjana, do you think you can find some books, magazines, old newspaper articles, things that could be used to source the information in the article? Thanks a lot! (just a duplicate of a message I'm about to send Anjana, Chandronandan :) ) riana_dzasta 15:55, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I thought you were thatgatha (mistaken identity) You should also cleen up Ali akbar Khans article and take out unrefrenced statements like the greatest instrumentalist. You see these things are subjective. If you are going to apply a clause then it should be universal Regards ANjana ==

Message from Chandronandan

[edit]

Excuse me Ms Patel but who is this thatgatha? I dont understand who are you talking about!!!! You earlier told me I learn Sarode and all that !!! Well surely you are getting confused with identities!!! I guess if you are modest enough then you should apologise!!! Neither do I learn Sarode!!! Nor am I anyone's student!!! Funny!!! Here in Australia no Indian teaches Sarode!!! Can you please clarify what you say? I can find no head and tail of all you said!!! Please clarify if you are polite and good.

Anyway, as my fellow Australian Riana Dzasta has said, you must write neutral articles. Everyone should write neutral articles about everything. About Ali Akbar Khan, or Ravi Shankar, or Britney Spears or Aashish Khan or Zubin Mehta or Vasant Rai or Madonna whoever may be --- we must write neutral articles. I will certainly check if there is anything which is not neutral at Ali Akbar Khan's article. Thank you for mentioning that to me. Anyway, even if we write something like "greatest" or similar, we must provide reference in terms of source, page number, issue number, exact quotation, and exact website ----- which you certainly did not give in Vasant Rai's article.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE ISSUE? AND PLEASE DO NOT MIX UP MY IDENTITY WITH ANYONE ELSE --- WHOEVER THE SHIT MAY BE. OK? ]] Love and wishes and best of luck - Chandronandan 10:53, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Chandronandan! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person.
