Welcome

[edit]

Hello, Chandran supermaniam, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you created appears to be an article about yourself. This is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.

The page you created about yourself has been or will shortly be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, but if you want to use the content from it, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Dave ♠♣♥♦№1185♪♫™ 19:43, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • (edit conflict) In short, I'd strongly advised that you should not be writing an article page about yourself here on Wikipedia (read → WP:Autobiography). As for Magic Babe Ning, the article page/image files was written/submitted by someone else other than by herself but still conforming to WP:Biographies of living persons, likewise if there are any discrepancy we will treat it no differently from yours. Also, note that Wikipedia is a Free online encyclopedia that anyone can edit but there are guidelines and policies to abide by if an article is to be able to stand on its feet here, WP:Notability & WP:Neutral point of view being the most important of them all. Hence, we do not accept any form of self-advert (advertisements masquerading as articles, read → WP:Spam). That's what Facebook, MySpace and other blogging/social networking sites are for, as they have a less stringent policy than Wikipedia. Work with us and not the other way around, thank you. --Dave ♠♣♥♦№1185♪♫™ 20:07, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

P D Cook , please advise what can I do to keep this page. (Chandran supermaniam (talk) 20:06, 17 August 2010 (UTC))[reply]
I am sorry that your question went unnoticed by the previous editor but there is nothing you can do to save the page from deletion. Wikipedia is not a soapbox and should not be used for advertising and self-promotion.--Forty twothe answer? 20:30, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop removing speedy deletion notices from pages that you have created yourself, as you did with User:Chandran supermaniam. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. P. D. Cook Talk to me! 20:01, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Brethren of RSAF

[edit]

Chandran, as an ex-RSAF personnel myself, I hope I can make this more bearable for you. As we have explained to you previously, please don't create your own Autobiography article here on Wikipedia again (your behaviour actually constitute WP:Disruptive editing), failure to comply to Wikipedia's editing guideline and policy can and will lead to you being BLOCKED or possibly BANNED from Wikipedia. A recent case I encountered had a certain struggling author/writer from India doing the same thing too but he was found out and had been warned accordingly, he has since complied after we went to great length to explain to him what we had just explained to you a while back. Hence, you are most certainly not the first person to attempt that and you are also most certainly not the last to do so. However, you might want to consider instead to create your own blog or Facebook account for your own purposes (hinting...). On another note, should you need more clarification you may leave a question for me right here and I'll answer you to the best of my abilities. Whatever it is, I wish you all the best. --Dave ♠♣♥♦№1185♪♫™ 09:02, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
