naming convention of List of mountains of Sri Lanka

hello Transhumanist, I wrote the article List of mountains in Sri Lanka and named it according to Template:Asia topic. but in Wikipedia:WikiProject Topic outline/Drafts/Topic outline of Sri Lanka the title was "List of mountains of Sri Lanka". i thought more correct name is the one in the topic outline and renamed it List of mountains of Sri Lanka. as you can notice there is an inconsistency is building up between Template:Asia topic and Topic outline of Sri Lanka. I'd like to know how to resolve this problem. Regards! --Chanaka L (talk) 02:32, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

There is no inconsistency between the topic outline and the template, because the template is configurable (it lets you specify "of" or "in"). The problem is the lack of standardization in the naming of country articles themselves. For example:
The solution requires two steps:
  1. Standardize the names so that they all match for each particular subject.
  2. Create redirects so that both variations ("of" and "in") work.
During the design of the format for the country outlines, generally the links were named to match the most page titles possible. So I treat the links used on these pages as the standard.
I hope that helps.  :)

Discussion at WikiProject Record Charts

Please see this discussion and provide your opinion on proposed page moves. Thanks, Dabomb87 (talk) 01:28, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for helping to improve the Linkin Park portal. (Although honestly you've done more for it than I have.) Just wanted to tell you. Tezkag72私にどなる私のはかい 03:50, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

It would be a lot better if there were more "quality" articles (i.e. GAs and FAs.) Then the "selected article" thing would have a better selection. Is it randomized now? Tezkag72私にどなる私のはかい 14:15, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
I think Minutes to Midnight would be an easy GA; there's tons of info out there about it. If only the members of the project were more committed. Tezkag72私にどなる私のはかい 22:30, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Sri Lankan films stubs

Hi I've created the category too as I'm about to add User:Dr. Blofeld/Sri Lanka ‎ Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:13, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for the award. That will be a nice addition. Thanks and anything you can do to expand these stubs will be welcome! Dr. Blofeld White cat 10:25, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

I've drawn up a fuller list at User:Dr. Blofeld/Sri Lanka. When I have time I'll try to get the remaining started. Dr. Blofeld White cat 10:42, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Perhaps if you know the films add plots or something or find other sources if possible. I'll start on those later. Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:45, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks mate. Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:53, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

I see you like jazz. Me too. Do you like guitarists like Wes Montgomery, Lee Ritenour and Larry Carlton? I'm an accomplished guitarist although jazz is one of the hardest styles to play. Many of the scales are chromatic of course. Check out Larry Carlton Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:23, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Yeah I love saxophonists but I haven't got into it much, I tend to listen to guitarist based music with saxophonists and piano etc accompanying. But any music which has saxophones in it is cool in my book. Mostly I'm into classic rock and blues stuff, my increasing love of jazz is a relatively recent development in my musical tastes. Dr. Blofeld White cat 10:24, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Funny thing is I had never heard of it!!! I gather its on the west coast of Wales near Aberystwyth or Fishguard? I live on the south east coast I know little about central western or northern Wales! Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:13, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

By the sound of the name I would have presumed it to be Cornish and in Cornwall. Tre is a Cornish word I think. How did you know about it living in Sri Lanka? Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:27, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Cool. Check out Llantwit Major Beach, one of my favourite local surfing spots. Its about 20 miles down the coast. Southerndown is the best, but a little further that I want to travel normally, there and back is about 60 miles. Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:40, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

I'm all over wiki. At present I have been increasing our article coverage on towns in Africa, like Gory, Mali etc about 700 communes and just before Christmas I completed starting the 4000 village development committees of Nepal. I am also in the middle of adding infoboxes to districts in Vietnam and countries like Colombia and Mexico etc. It is my goal that we cover everywhere in the world as well as UK and USA but there is sooo much to do. Other than this I have created around 60 language templates to be applied to articles to get content in other languages into English. Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:49, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Yes I do contribute to music articles but barely anything in relation to my interest in music. Music is a huge part of who I am but I've found a lot of the articles are already a good enough standard on here, especially ones on my favourite bands. FOr a long while I was involved almost entirely in film and actor articles, as you can see the CinemaofSriLanka template and many others I made two years ago but increasingly I have seen the need to concentrate on important geographical articles on here. Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:54, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Good luck on the exam. I haven't got around to sorting our Sri Lankan towns yet but it would be good to work with you on that one. I can create several hundred articles on missing towns and villages as well as adding maps to existing articles. Meanwhile check out The Rippingtons you'll like it. P.S. I love the music of Dave Koz and Marion Meadows, awesome stuff. Where abouts are you, Colombo? Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:14, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Thats great, thanks for starting it I've made a few adjustments. How did your exam go, I've been meaning to ask. Will try to get those Sri Lankan films started soon too. Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:43, 8 March 2009 (UTC) Guitar is going well, I recently had 11 gauge strongs but on my stratocaster, like Stevie Ray Vaughan you get a better tone with thicker strings! Yes I'm very busy I'm adding infoboxes to Morocco today and will resume adding Template:Departments of Cameroon later and sorting out the districts of Vietnam. Too much to do. One thing you could help with though is create a list of missing towns and villages at Wikipedia:WikiProject Sri Lanka/Missing settlements. You can copy lists from Maplandia. Google: Maplandia Sri Lanka and it should list all the villages by district and region and the coordinates. Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:03, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Yes I used to play lead guitar in a band when I was around 18. The band My Red Cell signed to Richard Branson's label V2 records a year later after I left! and went to uni. These days only one original member remains, one of my best mates in school, Russell Toomey and these days are called Inner City Pirates. Google any of these and you fill find something on them. The music that Russell liked though you know Indie stuff was not really my cup of tea. I would rather play in a solid rock band and play hard rock/blues stuff. Really I should be playing in a band professionally, and making money and having fun. Sometime I will try to scout around to find a good band! Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:19, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Yes its slow on mine too, don't know what it is. I can provide the falling rain link instead, although the names and coordinates are about the only reliable thing from that site. Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:33, 8 March 2009 (UTC) Try this Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:41, 8 March 2009 (UTC) No DGG made an unfounded comment that I found offensive before thats all. Ah I see we already have lists. I've started Dickoya. I had meant smaller towns rather than hamlets though, places with a population of over 1000 people. Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:51, 8 March 2009 (UTC) Yes I am well aware of any problems with lists, naturally I would do some research to check. I created the map we are using File:Location map Sri Lanka.png. I think I will create a different one now. I wish I had more time to work on places like this though. Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:05, 8 March 2009 (UTC) Say Happy Birthday to mummy. I won't be able to do much today anyway as I'm having connection trouble, Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:58, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Colombo Suburbs & Districts

Hello, thank you for your comments, I will take your comments into consideration when creating new pages. If possible can you tell me the difference between suburbs and districts for Sri Lanka. In western countries suburbs overlap administrative districts, as shown in google maps for the Colombo area. Thank you.

--Zen Man09 (talk) 05:45, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for your information, it is very helpful. I will eventually create a page for Colombo Fort. I don't have much information about the history of Colombo Fort but I can do some research for now and acquire references. Anyway thank you for your comments. I wish you success. --Zen Man09 (talk) 12:31, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
