If you would enlighten me...
...as to how my adding [sic] to a grammatically incorrect quote is being removed? Unlike the other person who has no clear reason for removing the tag, I have provided a source for the grammar. Thank you. Karin Anker (talk) 22:14, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
- You got it!! why not use the template? why did you just add
[sic]
this whole time?. Just use the template --Chamith (talk) 22:15, 19 November 2014 (UTC)- But after the very first edit I did use the [sic] tag proper, didn't I? Karin Anker (talk) 22:16, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
- I'm talking about the article and I only checked your last 2 edits because it seemed like an edit war. It doesn't matter , use the template--Chamith (talk) 22:19, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
- I would and I did! This IP user wasn't objecting to me using the tag incorrectly, but using the tag at all to denote a grammatical error in the quote! So do I have the go-ahead to correct it? Karin Anker (talk) 22:22, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, anyway I just noticed that the IP user mentioned "Use
[
sic]
template instead of [sic] in the two other cases it is used in the article to indicate odd phrasing." in one of his edit summaries. I think he also decided to give it a thought. Actually I didn't know that you used the template earlier, my bad.--Chamith (talk) 22:26, 19 November 2014 (UTC)- Thank you. I really hope I dind't contribute too much to your frustrated mood :( I'll be bringing the tag in order now. Have you tried out GTA V on the new consoles yet? I got my copy in just today! Karin Anker (talk) 22:30, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
- No you didn't . GTA V on new console? No I haven't Because I don't have a console, I only have gaming PC. Consoles games are very rare over here in my country so it's not a good option. I'm devastated by the fact that GTA V isn't out for PCs (I think it's coming to PC, hopefully). Nevertheless you are really lucky because you can play it right now or whenever you want. Jealous --Chamith (talk) 22:36, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
- It's coming to PC real soon, so while I play on console, you'll be able to mod the game on PC... I'm more jealous of you, especially now that they have implemented a robust first-person view. Just imagine on your PC... just generally walking through downtown Los Santos. Hell, even if you don't have any interest in the VR thing, unlike me you will be driving Batman's Tumbler and the DeLorean and whatnot by way of mods while I'm stuck on console. (I wish I had a proper PC :( ) Karin Anker (talk) 22:45, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

Edit reverts on How to Train Your Dragon 2
I'll concede the point on Norway, but I didn't know anything about Svalbard, so I assumed others might not either. Given that it's part of Norway, it might not need mentioning at all. Just saying "they visited Norway" would cover both.
I strongly disagree about the other reverts. To paraphrase the article: "The movie made $X, making it the highest-grossing animated film of 2014 and the eighth highest-grossing film of the year overall." is grammatically correct. JDspeeder1 (talk) 06:16, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
- @JDspeeder1: That's why I restored one of your edits, I restored the part where you mentioned making it the highest grossing..., and it's OK to link unfamiliar words, like the one you mentioned above. I reverted your edit as a whole because somehow it violated WP:OVERLINK (only one edit) but later I restored your other good faith edits. Cheers--Chamith (talk) 13:45, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
- @ChamithN: Thanks. I changed eight back to eighth. JDspeeder1 (talk) 18:17, 22 November 2014 (UTC)
Legend of Korra Book 3 removal of dvd release dates,
You removed the region 4 release date because I assume it was for the reference that was linked to a store that sells it. I did a little bit of research about Wikipedia's rules and it turns out that a citation isn't even necessary for information like this.
https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Citing_sources#When_and_why_to_cite_sources https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Verifiability#Verifiability_does_not_guarantee_inclusion
- @Laserchalk: Yes I removed it because of the store link you provided. It seemed like you were promoting that store page using Wikipedia reference system. Read the 14th point in WP:ELNO. It clearly says not to provide links to manufacturers, suppliers or customers. And in Wikipedia policies doesn't discourage people to cite. Read [this] essay. You should notice that they have mentioned Opinions, data and statistics, and statements based on someone's scientific work should be cited and attributed to their authors in the text. Also if you take a closer look at The Legend Of Korra#Home media you should noticed that all the other release dates are cited.--Chamith (talk) 19:11, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Maroon 5, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Tonic. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Trademarks
You reverted for example this: [1] with the reason "Intel core and generations are trademarks of intel company!". Why is that a reason to revert? Why does it matter whether "Intel Core" is an Intel trademark? Thue (talk) 11:19, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
- @Thue: Actually Intel Core is a trademark used for desktop and mobile processors. For example Intel Core i3.i5,i7. But the architecture is also used on server processors such as Xeon E5 2600 which do not use Intel Core trademark. Architecture is not focused just on Desktop and mobile processes but also on server processors.--Chamith (talk) 11:25, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
- Ah ok, the reversion makes sense then, though your original edit summary did not :). Thue (talk) 11:35, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2015 is just around the corner...
Hello everyone, and may we wish you all a happy holiday season. As you will probably already know, the 2015 WikiCup begins in the new year; there is still time to sign up. We have a few important announcements concerning the future of the WikiCup.
- We would like to announce that Josh (J Milburn) and Ed (The ed17), who have been WikiCup judges since 2009 and 2010 respectively, are stepping down. This decision has been made for a number of reasons, but the main one is time. Both Josh and Ed have found that, over the previous year, they have been unable to devote the time necessary to the WikiCup, and it is not likely that they will be able to do this in the near future. Furthermore, new people at the helm can only help to invigorate the WikiCup and keep it dynamic. Josh and Ed will still be around, and will likely be participating in the Cup this following year as competitors, which is where both started out.
- In a similar vein, we hope you will all join us in welcoming Jason (Sturmvogel 66) and Christine (Figureskatingfan), who are joining Brian (Miyagawa) to form the 2015 WikiCup judging team. Jason is a WikiCup veteran, having won in 2010 and finishing in fifth this year. Christine has participated in two WikiCups, reaching the semi-finals in both, and is responsible for the GA Cup, which she now co-runs.
- The discussions/polls concerning the next competition's rules will be closed soon, and rules changes will be made clear on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring and talk pages. While it may be impossible to please everyone, the judges will make every effort to ensure that the new rules are both fair and in the best interests of the competition, which is, first and foremost, about improving Wikipedia.
If you have any questions or concerns, the judges can be reached on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, on their talk pages, or by email. We hope you will all join us in trying to make the 2015 WikiCup the most productive and enjoyable yet. You are receiving this message because you are listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Question from new user?
Hello ChamithN,
I'm knew so forgive me if the question is stupid. It says on my notifications that I have been patrolled by you. What does that mean?
Thanks Mbcap (talk) 09:12, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
- @Mbcap: Hi, welcome to Wikipedia Mbcap. When someone create a new page a Wikipedia it will be marked as review pending, which means another editor must check the page for errors and fix them/report them. After completing the process of reviewing by another editor he has to confirm that the page is patrolled and it's free of errors. This feature is mostly used to remove unnecessary articles from Wikipedia. This process is also know as new page patrolling. If you have more question feel free to ask them on my talk page. I'd be glad to help you .--Chamith (talk) 09:24, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for explaining ChamithN, what new page would that be be because I have not created a new page yet? Mbcap (talk) 09:26, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
- @Mbcap: Your user page and talk page are also counted as Wikipedia pages though they are not articles.--Chamith (talk) 09:29, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
Thank you Mbcap (talk) 14:14, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
