Hi Chalchiuhtlatonal, and thank you for your feedback. Personally, I couldn't agree with you more. Be wary in removing "In popular culture sections", though; they have become something of a long-standing tradition, even if many editors do despise them. Look out especially for entries that are referenced, since removing these can get you into trouble. That said, please continue to be bold! in improving the encyclopedia.

Thank you for your quick response. I have no issue with Pop Culture, in and of itself, and articles that successfully use such information are fine, when such information isn't trivia. Long standing tradition or no, what Wikipedia seems plagued with, especially with anything to do with Japan, are long lists of nothing -- be it every single references that ever appeared in InuYasha or video games or some obscure heavy metal record from 1991. I've never understood why these editors who cling to the idea this is useful for the rest of us don't start their own Japanese Pop Cult Wiki, since obviously a lot of time and energy goes into compiling these lists. Then, at least, this sort of thing could be redirected and make everyone happy.
To me, as someone who respects Japanese culture, but more importantly, respects the idea of free information, unreferenced lists are not only embarrassing, it makes Wikipedia look like it is being edited by 13 year olds. If this is going to be an uphill battle, if there are editors here at Wikipedia who seriously think that this is the best use of this encyclopedia's resources, that's good to know since I have no interest in being part of that. Who needs that kind of stress when this is volunteer work and time is short? Chalchiuhtlatonal (talk) 14:12, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
