Sources

[edit]

After reviewing several of your football related images, I noticed you added calbears.cstv.com as their 'source', thought I've found similar ones here. Please add which page you specifically got the image from. If the image does not belong to you, please remove it from the article, as using of non-free images for decorative purposes is forbidden per US Copyright Law. Unless you can show where you got the image from, and confirm that it was released under GNU terms, then they may possibly be deleted. Thanks for your time. --►ShadowJester07  10:59, 23 June 2007 (UTC)\[reply]

[edit]

If you own the site "http://www.mybearterritory.com/" and you're releasing the images from that site under the GFDL you need to indicate that at the web site itself. Either that, or e-mail permissions-en at wikimedia dot org. Otherwise, we can't use the images here. Chick Bowen 01:38, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Or, just don't put information about that site in the image descriptions. Just state "I took this image" and use the "GFDL-self" license. This image is questionable the way it reads: Image:DeSeanJackson.jpg. MECUtalk 13:59, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also, putting watermarks on images is a violation of our policy. Please do not upload anymore images with watermarks in them. Lastly, we do not allow putting "credit" information in the image caption as part of their use in the article. All attribution information is available on the image description page. I've removed the ones I found on the 2007 Cal football page. MECUtalk 14:45, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To follow up on what Chick Bowen and MECU have said, watermarked images are not permitted for legal and technical reasons. Under the Creative Commons license, any images must be attributed in a manner no less prominent than any other. In other words, if one image gets inline credits or credits built into the image, every Creative Commons image has to. Are you willing to remove the watermarks? If not, the images will need to be deleted. --B 02:21, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of images with GFDL-compatible licenses

[edit]

Once you contribute an image that is GFDL or something with a compatible meaning/implication, you can longer reclaim it out of public GFDL-compatible use. GFDL means you are "giving readers the rights to copy, redistribute and modify a work", not just look at it until you decide you don't want it used any more. Your speedy-deletion-tag rationale GFDL images are not valid. Worse, some of the images have been edited by others after you uploaded them, therefore you are claiming ownership of their work and trying to control how *they* have declared it can be used when you mark them for deletion in this manner. Please file an IfD or some other wider discussion if you feel these images should be deleted. DMacks (talk) 22:43, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Cal bears football coach jeff tedford.jpg requesting evidence of permission because the original image found at My Bear Territory and there is no information on the source or the copyright of the images found there. I see this is an ongoing issue with your image uploads so you can help by doing one of the one of the following:

  • If you are the photographer please change the licensing information on the My Bear Territory source page.
  • If you are the photographer please send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.
  • If you are the photographer do not upload images with the website URL embedded as they may be deleted via CSD G11 as blatant advertising.
  • If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source, their author and provided evidence of permission. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced, untagged and images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the images information page that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the image does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Thanks you. Soundvisions1 (talk) 04:26, 24 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think only admins can do that. You'd have to ask one and give your reasoning why. BrokenSphereMsg me 19:56, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
