Just needing understanding

[edit]

Hi there, I have been trying to edit Michael Levine (author) page and still get errors. I have read all the documentations and I still can't seem to get it right. So, I would like get this article or page in the right standing with Wikipedia. All I am asking is: What is wrong with the current page? What do I need to do to make sure the content is right? Or the link? I don't want it to be a promotional plug and I know I've made that mistake before.

I was using these pages as a guideline (while reading the documentation - those documentations are kinda hard to follow)Kim Westwood and Erica Wagner just to make sure I am doing this right.

So please help me out with a clear understanding.

Thank you so much for you work and service Wikipedia is a wonderful source, cczeto Cczeto (talk) 17:09, 29 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia content should be based on reliable sources that are independent of the subject, such as newspaper articles about Levine or published reviews of his books. Of the article's current sources, the first two are his publishers, who have a commercial interest in promoting his work. The third is an interview with Levine, and Levine is not an independent source for infomration about himself. The fourth is a press release, not subject to any editorial oversight and not reliable. For comparison, while the articles you picked as examples aren't quite as good as could be desired (you may want to check out our Good Articles instead), the Kim Westwood article cites The Canberra Times, the Sydney Morning Herald and ABC Radio's Book Show, among others. Thank you so much Huon Huon (talk)I am not sure how to respond so I hope I am doing this right. Cczeto (talk) 20:55, 29 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Levine/Fagan

[edit]

Hello again. I've removed your recent addition to Michael Levine (author) because it had a significant statement about a living person, but did not include a source. If David T. Fagan went into default, that needs to be clearly explained and verifiable (WP:V). More information about this can be found at WP:BLP. As an additional note, the Wikipedia manual of style (WP:MOS) recommends against using Mr., Mrs., or Ms.. There are exceptions, (WP:LASTNAME) but this doesn't look like one of them. Thanks.
