Proposed deletion of H. L. (Bud) Goodall, Jr.

The article H. L. (Bud) Goodall, Jr. has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This reads like a CV, and isn't appropriate for Wikipedia.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. As he is clearly a very notable academic and author, I removed the proposed deletion tag and started rewriting the article as an encyclopedia article, not the original combination of press release and academic CV. It needs much further work to rewrite the articles to our style; a good place to start learning it is our guide to writing Wikipedia articles . Avoid WP:Peacock terms, and any opinion about his work must be specifically cited to a reliable published source. The article needs references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. These can be published book reviews. Cite them after the relevant book--we consider it appropriate. Include only major national level offices and awards, but not minor ones. Any editorships --not mere editorial board membership? List them--we consider it very important, and you should add it to the articles for the relevant journals also, with a link to the bio. If they have any notable students who would qualify for Wikipedia bios, include them. Their PhD advisors probably also qualify for bios here; link them, even if they do not yet have articles.

Two special points: First: The books should be covered only once per book--not just in the bibliography and the narrative. If they're in the narrative, give the bibliographic details as footnotes. If they're in the list, mention them only in general terms in the narrative. The description of his interests duplicates some of this also. Give a source for it, even if its just his CV. Second and most important: it seems quite possible that some of this material is from a previously published source, print or web. Do not do this, first it's a copyright violation, but, even if you give us permission according to WP:DCM, the tone with not be encyclopedic and the material will not be suitable--it usually sounds too flowery. It is essential to remove and rewrite from scratch, not just paraphrase, andy previously published material--we can not compromise on this. I'll check back at the article.
