Superfluous links
[edit]Hello Carlos, and welcome to Wikipedia. I've reverted a couple of your edits where you've listed an individual place or feature of interest to an article covering a large geographic area. For example, we don't list an individual hotel in the "See also" section of an article on a large region merely because the hotel is located in that region. As you can imagine, such lists could get out of hand. I suggest you slow down on this campaign, as it could generate a lot of clean-up work for other editors. If you would like to get input from others regarding this, you might try asking for opinions at the "Teahouse" linked above in the first line of the Welcome section. - Hello! Thanks for the feedback. I was really wondering how to aboid the "orphan" tag with articles that are quite small but still need translation. Can you give me any guidance on how to link these short articles to other sources without falling back to creating superflours links? Thanks in advance Carlos Eduardo Wester Pérez (talk) 15:24, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
- Can you give me an example of these small articles in need of translation? Are you referring to articles on en.wp that are rough translations from a non-English wiki? Eric talk 16:11, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
- Of course! For example the Maison Mattot which is a translation from the Fr Wikipedia, it only consists of 3 headings and barely surpases 10 references. In these types of articles, how can I avoid getting the "orphan" tag without generating clean-up work for other editors? Carlos Eduardo Wester Pérez (talk) 17:08, 4 August 2023 (UTC)

- Okay, now I understand the issue you are trying to address. I have never seen the orphan guidance, nor even thought about the issue before. I don't see the orphan issue as a big problem, but I'm just one person. I would think that placing articles such as Mattot into categories might address the issue, but the guidance does not seem to indicate that. I would think there might be some useful pointers here: Wikipedia:Orphan#What_if_I_can't_de-orphan_it?. And it might be worth posting a question on the Orphan talkpage. Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
[edit] Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Cultural economics into History of schools of economic thought on arts and culture. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 01:20, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
- Good evening! Thank you very much for the indication. I made sure to add the "Copied" template in order to mention the source page and give due credit. Will apply it from now on 🙌🏻 Carlos Eduardo Wester Pérez (talk) 01:43, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
Redlinks are good
[edit]I've been spending a lot of time fixing up your article Flora of the Massif central, in particular making sure that species that don't have articles, such as Ranunculus nodiflorus, are wikilinked. Beginning users often try to conceal missing articles, but in fact redlinks are vital to Wikipedia. Also, I was forced to remove "Pyrenean selenium" from the article as there is no other webpage on the entire internet that puts these two words together; that is, there is no such plant. Abductive (reasoning) 12:58, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
- I will definitely take it into consideration for every edit that I make! Thank you very much for your observations Carlos Eduardo Wester Pérez (talk) 11:23, 14 November 2023 (UTC)

Incorrectly using minor edits check box
[edit]Hi Carlos Eduardo Wester Pérez! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. ▶ I am Grorp ◀ 00:47, 5 October 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Kreuznach Conference
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Kreuznach Conference requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either
- disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
- disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
- is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. ‡ El cid, el campeador talk 20:08, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
- Helloǃ I very much appreciate the observation, and after reading the criteria for "Speedy Deletion" I wanted to add the fact that the red linked articles mentioned within the wikipedia disambiguation page are to be translated by me. I am currently working on "Kreuznach Conference (August 9, 1917)" in order to publish it in a few hours and link it directly to its disamiguation page "Kreuznach Conference". If the article still qualifies for "Speedy Deletion" despite this, I would like to know if there is a possibility for me to create it again, after having published the first extant Wikipedia page or if I have to publish at least more than 2 in order to create it again. Thanks in advanceǃ Carlos Eduardo Wester Pérez (talk) 20:24, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Speedy deletion nomination of Kreuznach Conference
[edit]Hello Carlos Eduardo Wester Pérez,
Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username FULBERT and it's nice to meet you :-)
I wanted to let you know that I have tagged an article that you started, Kreuznach Conference for deletion, because it is unnecessary per one of the criteria at WP:G14.
If you feel that the page shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.
For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|FULBERT}}

- Helloǃ I very much appreciate the observation, and after reading the criteria for "Speedy Deletion" I wanted to add the fact that I just translated, published and linked "Kreuznach Conference (August 9, 1917)" into the disamiguation page "Kreuznach Conference". - Hello Carlos. The page has been 'saved' by another user. The only issue with your page was that it was a disambiguation page, which is meant only as a navigational tool and not a substantive article; therefore, the fact that it did not help navigate to any pages was a fatal flaw. However, the article has now been transformed into an article, so you are free to add/expand to that and to also make articles for the specific conferences if they are notable. Let me know if you have any questions! ‡ El cid, el campeador talk 13:54, 14 November 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Hi there, Carlos Eduardo Wester Pérez, and thank you for all the articles you have translated from French over the past nine or ten months. As a result of my interest in OKA, I have been reviewing them and assessing them as necessary. I hope you are comfortable with these. Overall, as you can see, the results are pretty impressive. Keep up the good work and happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 16:16, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
