Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Carlo at Stedfast Productions. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:
- avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
- instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
- when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thanks for changing your name, please review the above information. 331dot (talk) 13:32, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
Carlo at Stedfast Productions, you are invited to the Teahouse!
[edit]Hi Carlo at Stedfast Productions! Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. We hope to see you there!
Delivered by HostBot on behalf of the Teahouse hosts 22:02, 6 May 2017 (UTC) |
Hello. My name is Carlo and I am a producer at Stedfast Productions. I wanted to start a Wiki page on our company's first narrative feature film, The Light of The Moon. I acknowledge that I have a conflict of interest and will use the WP:COIPAYDISCLOSE in my future requests for edits. This is a wonderful community you have created and I appreciate your patience as I learn the processes to make the community stronger. Carlo at Stedfast Productions (talk) 13:10, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
- Hello, I removed the template you added above, as it is meant for article talk pages. Your statement above is sufficient for this page, though you should note it on the talk pages of articles that you have a COI with. It is highly suggested that those with a COI and/or paid editing association not edit related articles directly, instead suggesting changes on the article talk page. Doing this will result in your suggestions being much better received.
- I would lastly add that typically, new conversations like this are placed at the bottom of the page. 331dot (talk) 13:15, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
Many thanks for prompt response, 331dot. Much appreciated. I have moved this statement to the bottom of the conversation per your suggestion. I have also disclosed my COI in the article talk page and per your suggestion, I have also suggested changes on the same page. Many thanks! movie image maybe
[edit]Hey, I inserted the above "welcome" info at the top of your User talk page, as an exception to general rule on discussions. As you may have noticed, I noticed your article The Light of The Moon and have edited there and at its Talk page, after noticing your posting at User talk:Cullen328. Hey, you're doing really pretty well; it is hard to get started in Wikipedia.
About the movie article, you could help by contributing images that can be used in the article, like a logo or a film promotional poster or whatever, e.g. like the image I see here at an IMDB page. Wikipedia can only use images that are in the public domain or are released under fairly broad licenses. Images should be contributed to "Commons.Wikimedia.org". It is easy for anyone to contribute a photo they took themself and have clear ownership over, but for copyrighted images like corporate logos and commercial images owned by a movie it is harder, because your identity and ownership have to be verified. There is some guidance at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. I think the best way is to correspond by confidential emails with volunteers who specialize in helping to accept donated materials via the wp:OTRS ("Open-source Ticket Request System", see Wikipedia:Volunteer Response Team). I hope this helps you get started if you want to do that.
Anyhow, again welcome. If you post a reply here I will probably see it because I will "watchlist" here, but if I don't reply, or otherwise, please feel free to post at my Talk page and you will surely reach me. Cheers! --doncram 20:34, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
Many thanks, User:doncram. I really appreciate the welcome and the edits to the article about The Light of The Moon. We are in the process of finalizing our official movie poster with our distributor. The one on IMDb is what we prepared for SXSW however, we would prefer to upload the official poster once it becomes available. I can definitely provide this to the "Open-source Ticket Request System" when it becomes available. Once again, thank you for updating the changes to the film page. The team and I truly appreciate your help and continued support. Cheers Carlo at Stedfast Productions (talk) 22:18, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
