Opinion request
When I first wrote the Flag of Puerto Rico article years ago, it was titled "The flags of Puerto Rico" and was intended to be just that, an article about the flags of Puerto Rico. However, with time someone (who made a mess with the edit history) came along and changed the title to the current one.
I am thinking of two options per consensus.
1. Leaving the current title, "spliting" the article, keeping only the story of the "Flag" and it's evolution and creating separate articles about the "municipal" and "political" flags and have them interwiklinked in the "See also" sections.
or ....
2. Changing the title back to "Flags of Puerto Rico", its original title and keeping the article as it is, which would be less troublesome.
or ....
3. Just leave it as it is.
Your thoughts will be highly appreciated. Tony the Marine (talk) 01:08, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
- Mi hermano, I'm not going to deal with the shades of blue issue as Rob wants, that has already been settled per consensus as far as I'm concerned. It's the title. If we leave the title as it is, it seems as if we are only referring to "the flag" and not the municipal, political and sports flag. I just wondered if it would be more appropiate to name the article "Flags of Puerto Rico" instead. Tony the Marine (talk) 02:24, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Estoy de acuerdo contigo. I don't know what he is up too, but I'm not going to let him drag us into another controversy about the colors. What we did was keep the article complete as it is, rename the article and rephrase the introduction, which is the right thing. This is an article we all have made into one of the best articles ever about our flag, which has been read by thousands of readers without any compliants. We can't let one person, who came out of the blue, dictate changes to what is one of the best GA's. Tony the Marine (talk) 01:28, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
- About "Beta", I don't know what the deal is and could care less for the changes. I like the system that we now have. Why don't these people improve this system? Makes you wonder what they are up to. Tony the Marine (talk) 01:32, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
Regarding flags inside infoboxes
Hi there, it came to my attention that a lot of the boxing articles have flags inside the infobox. Per MOS:FLAG flags should not be in the infobox of an individual. I would like to get your input on this since your an active member of the boxing project. Richard (talk) 05:08, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Fantastic pictures
You have got to check out the fantastic pictures of old-Puerto Rico here: [1]. The good thing is that the majority of them are pre-1923, when there were no copyright laws and can be used by anyone in our project. Tony the Marine (talk) 20:10, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
- I'm glad that you liked the "Puerto Ricans in World War I" article. I had it in my mind for sometime and now that it is done I'm sure that there isn't anything like it in the Internet. One thing is sure and that is "Que los Boricuas somos gente valiente", we are warriors and we are not afraid to fight when we have to. On another note, it is funny how those gringos didn't even know that Culebra is part of Puerto Rico. Que idiotas. I hope that you do well with your studies because you, my friend are an "Orgullo Boricua". Tony the Marine (talk) 00:54, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Nothing new has happened except the silly comments, by someone who claims to honor our Korean War veterans complaining about photo copyright infringements, posted here: Talk:65th Infantry Regiment (United States) and they don't even own the copyrights. List of boxing triple champions
I took a look at the List of boxing triple champions article and saw that Monkey, cluttered the article with images with the hidden goal of accomplishing the mission which he set out to do in the first place. The thing is, that in my opinion, that the article, with the clutter of images doesn't look good may distract the reader from the content of the article itself. I have a suggestion, if you like I can create a "Gallery" of these images, similar to this one: Gallery and post it at the end like in the case of El Grito de Lares. What do you think? Tony the Marine (talk) 21:29, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- Don't worry too much, tell me what do you think of making a "gallery" of the images. Do you think it would make the article look better then it does now? Tony the Marine (talk) 00:29, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- O.K., I created a "Photo gallery of triple champions" and added it to the article. If you like it, keep it. If not, you can remove it and I won't think nothing of it. Tony the Marine (talk) 03:39, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'm glad that you liked it. Deletion of the gallery or any changes made to it, other then adding more images, will have to be discussed in the article's "talk Page" first and the person including El Mono, will have to provide a good rationale otherwise it may be considered vandalism since Wikipedia is not about what we like or do not like nor is it about what we want or do not want. Don't you agree? Tony the Marine (talk) 06:05, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- O.K., I created a "Photo gallery of triple champions" and added it to the article. If you like it, keep it. If not, you can remove it and I won't think nothing of it. Tony the Marine (talk) 03:39, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

Raul Julia
It really looks really good. I'll take a deep look into it this week. Last week I had a busy week with personal issues, such as the birth of my first varon grandchild and the almost death of my father-in-law. Estoy agotao. Question: What do you think that I have in common with Raul Julia, Iris Chacon and Walter Mercado? Tony the Marine (talk) 03:40, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- Not only were we all born on March, we were all born on March 9th, how do you like that? Tony the Marine (talk) 19:57, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- Oh yeah, I forgot. Iris, her "Culant" and I were born on the same year too. Esa Iris estaba buenisima en su tiempo. Tony the Marine (talk) 22:48, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- I know that she was born on the 9th, pero checking around she is also cited as the 7th. So much for "Miss Culant", normally artists take off years from their age and in this case someone did the opposite and added days to her age (sonrisa). Tony the Marine (talk) 23:49, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Mameyes
Hello Caribbean, In your comment about the 2004 usgs report, are you saying it is too old, or too recent, or too distant from the 1985 event? or all of these? or, Are you saying the wording exaggerated the reality? or all these? Thanks, Mercy11 (talk) 16:34, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- OK, I have reworded the statement/s and added a couple more references to clarify. Mercy11 (talk) 02:06, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- Caribbean, we need to forget about the 2004 USGS report, as the SDR report is more recent. Also, the statement you changed is an actual quote from the SDR; my fault for having overlooked placing the "s, but I've fixed that now. Also, we really can't say 'since the establishement of USGS', as we don't know that, right? (Do we know the USGS was in fact doing mudslide studies back in 1879?, we don't know.), and the President's report does in fact say "in US history", so why change what it is anyway. Check it out. Mercy11 (talk) 03:23, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- I think we are both fundamentally in agreement that there seems to be no infallible way of expressing this fact w/o giving the impression that it is still, up and until TODAY, 'The worst in US history.'
- One reason I have stayed away from supporting the "up to that year" approach is that it seems to be saying that it was -only- up until to 2005, but it ended in 2005, and it is not so any longer since then; that is, that *we know* there was one worse yet since 2005. (For example, we say 'Up until 9/11 you didn't have to take off your shoes at the airport' because we know FOR A FACT that SINCE then we must take them off. But we don't know for a fact that since 2005 there has been a worst one than Mameyes'). I am not supporting anything different than you are. I am saying that what I just described is the flip side of this coin. I am afraid there is no perfect solution to this.
- Your most recent edit could be read as such. That is, the "up to that year" could be read to mean that Mameyes "lost" (ufffff) the No. 1 spot in 2005. BTW, pretentiousness, I don't think can ever be an issue here, as we are reporting what it is, and by clearly providing the year up-front ("In 2005...") we are (seems to me) already saying, "reader beware." In any event, let's leave it as it is now. It is as close to perfect as it can get! Mercy11 (talk) 04:19, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Crime
What purpose would that serve? Unlike NYC (haha), it is not a distinguishing characteristic of the city. I mean is the National Guard still in Ponce's caserios, but not in other towns' caserios? And, do users wanting to read an article about a town look for crime stats? I'd rather look for police protection, wouldn't you? Mercy11 (talk) 04:46, 4 November 2009 (UTC) BTW, I looked up SJ, Mayaguez, and Bayamon, just to pick a few: the word crime doesn't exist in those articles - let alone a section on it. Regards, Mercy11 (talk) 04:46, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- Hummmmmm... I see....
- this may be difficult to get, though, as Ponce is such a nice city (he,he). Mercy11 (talk) 05:04, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- There you go! I threw some lines and figures together. That ought to be enough to get things started. Maybe someone has Ponce city-only or Ponce municipality-only stats available, I don't. Regards, Mercy11 (talk) 19:19, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- No, that primera hora article doesn't add any more value to the Ponce article. There is already a crime section in the Ponce article that San Juan doesn't have (and by my poking around, many other cities as well, in&out of PR). The Ponce already states the city has a high murder rate, there's no need to beat on it anymore. The Ponce article crime section is well-drafted, unbiased/npov, with verifiable citations, and long enough already. I wouldn't add anymore to it, though there may be some typos that still need correcting. Missing are also Ponce-specific crime stats - the closest I got was Ponce MSA. Regards, Mercy11 (talk)
Question
Maybe you know the answer. Which song did Daniel Santos record, was it "Si Yo Fuera Millonario" or was it "Si Yo Fuera Rico"? If you know, then do you know in what year he made the recording? Tony the Marine (talk) 04:58, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Re:Macheteros
I checked the article and I agree with the Keep of the GA review. However, I did find a couple of minor flaws (two dead links) that need to be fixed as I suggested. Tony the Marine (talk) 02:25, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
My opinion
You asked my opinion and I agree. This my statement:
"You know the sad thing is that I like both of you and that this couldn't have worked out in a civil manner without the name calling. Mercy, you must understand that Caribbean is being fair with you with his comment on your talk page. On one hand he has gotten along well with "Mercy", on the other he was attacked and responded to your other accounts without realizing that you and they were one and the same person. You should stick to one account and get rid of the other accounts since it is against policy. Caribbean is a respected administrator and a great guy to work with, he also offered to bury the hachet and not block you. From what I saw in the interaction between you and him, you both seemed to get along well in the beginning. Why not call it a truce, since you have so much to offer, and work out the differences as to the articles in the talk pages, without jumping at each others throats? At times I have been wrong in my assumptions and have been corrected by others and at other times I have corrected the assumptions of others. Yet, we have all remained friends because we communicated before making any changes in a respectful way. I hope that things can be worked out and that you Mercy, will continue to contribute to the Puerto Rican related issues of the project, but only with one account.' Hey Caribeean, everyhting was done on my end. So what are we waiting for? Go ahead and do your thing anytime. Regards, Mercy 209.212.21.160 (talk) 22:16, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
- It was not a dispute, you randomly engaged in personal attacks over an edit made to an article. I never insulted you or your education, it was not me the one that made it personal. Then you got blocked for attacking me once again after receiving the warning while working as a sockpuppet, its simply karma. You know well that I offered you a peace offering despite knowing that the puppets were being managed by you. That was wasted, now its up to another admin to take action. Besides, the subsequent CU revealed that you had yet another account hiding up your sleeve. - Caribbean~H.Q. 23:06, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

- Here is a question. Shouldn't the "tag" on User:Mercy11's page be removed since the block was lifted and Mercy agreed to never use a sockpuppet account again? If the "tag" is kept, then other editors will not take Mercy's edits seriously because of her past actions. What do you think? Tony the Marine (talk) 01:07, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
- You know, you are right, I never heard of the other names that you mentioned before. I guess I'm too old school, but one thing is true and that is that we are and always have been a power house to be delt with when it comes to boxing, en el pasado, en el presente, y en el futuro. The one about Hatillo is interesting, but will be deleted once they discover that it is in Spanish. I want to look into that one. Tony the Marine (talk) 05:47, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Caribbean, I have left a response to Tony (http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Marine_69-71&diff=prev&oldid=326280992) on his recent Macheteros comment that would probably be beneficial if you reviewed and gave me your your opinion if you possibly could. I'm having a third party who is "A lo tanto" of the AfD's look into what I believe is the self-promotional and vanity aspects of the article which may make it a candidate for AfD. Pero, if the subject is deemed notable, then it will need a complete make-over. Tony the Marine (talk) 05:48, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
SubPage you created
Caribbean, how do other editors become aware of the subpage? How do they get to read and interact with it and become aware of the details of issues being discussed so they too can contribute if they wanted? I looked at the regular article's Discussion page, and saw no link to the subpage. As of yet I do not see any other way to get to the new subpage except through the link you put in my personal user talk page.
Please don't take this personal, but I have found some *minor* problems (broken links, not in citation given, etc) with BPA article which I have tagged as such. There are also what some might consider as *major* problems. I know you have an interest in this article, so I will enter the latter for discussion in the discussion page, which I trust you are watching. If by any chance I fail to do this, an assumption of good faith will be appreciated. Regards, Mercy11 (talk) 13:43, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
- Hummm, I think I see what you are trying to do, but I don't think my brain can work that way,,, but I'll try and see if I can. (I am not one for laying everything up-front in one shot.) Still I see no advantage to using this new subpage over the regular discussion page. Do I sense that errors (dead links, newer info making info in article obsolete, etc) could make this article vulnerable to being demoted from its current GA status??? Is this is the case, I could help by fixing things instead of just tagging them out in the open. Regards, Mercy11 (talk) 19:23, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Edwin Muñiz
You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.
A tag has been placed on Edwin Muñiz requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. TallMagic (talk) 05:53, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
- Why am I getting this notice? The article is not my creation. Anyways, the subject is notable enough to avoid being A7nd, try AFD if you want. - Caribbean~H.Q. 07:43, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Good idea, I'll do the ICP thing this coming week. Did you know that the PR Government years ago approved that the ICP transfer the remains of Manuel Rojas from Venezuela to Puerto Rico with the intention of buring them in Lares and that nothing became of it? When I asked last terms government (PPD) about it, they didn't even know anything and promised to let know what happened, pero nada. Tony the Marine (talk) 03:13, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
Re:Politics of Puerto Rico
Right now, remove all unsourced additions, I guess that would include the VP candidate mention since the only source is a "blog" and as such is unreliable, revert the "statehood" to " annexation" (NPOV) and warn him. I guess if that doesn't work (which is most likely) the next step could be to "protect" the artcile to the level that only administrators could edit and take the issue to discussion. Tony the Marine (talk) 03:26, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
First of all I did not include the VP candidate mention. Somebody else put it there and I just edited the work Gov to Governor of Puerto Rico.
Second Could you explain your feedback or give me more detail of your feedback: Reverting content per concerns of unsourced changes and additions and agreement of a fellow sysop
Finally, Do you read the Annexation definition of Wikipedia? Please do it! I will really appreciate it.
Just an example:
Annexation is an Unilaterally Act! It is very very clear on Wikipedia!
Annexation differs from cession and amalgamation, because unlike cession where territory is given or sold through treaty, or amalgamation where both sides are asked if they agree with the merge, annexation is a unilateral act where territory is seized and held by one state and made legitimate by the recognition of the international community.
If you go to the wikipedia definition of annexation you should notice that Puerto Rico was annexed to the U.S. on 1898 during the Hispanic American war.
Puerto Rico was annexed to the U.S. in 1898 on the Hispanic American War. Becuase Annexation implies an uniteral act that is recognized by the international connunity.
Kuwait was annexed to Irak in 1990. Refer to Annexation on the Wikipedia definition!
Golan was annexed to Israel in 1981. Jerusalem was annexed to Israel in 1980.
For more example just go to Annexation on this Encyclopedia, there are very clear of what Annexation means in the correct term in world-wide English at least to Wikipedia!
Other updates: Political territorial occupation by the United States: Update [Puerto Rico] to Puerto Rico.) The article does reference to the Tax and Custom Law section however the section does not exist, since I created teh Tax and Custom Law Section. Add the Voting Rights in Puerto Rico on the Disfranchisement in the U.S.A. Section Add links to the PDP and the NPP on the 1968 to present section. Somebody add the VP Comment I add the "Republican Party presidential nomination", to clarify the Presidential Nomination party.
- Finnally I Add the 2008 Political Electoral results and Replace he word Annexation to Statehood since is most accurate as per Wikipedia definition Update PNP and PPD to NPP and PDP.

Congressional Research Report RL32533
The Congressional Research Service (CRS), known as "Congress's think tank", is the public policy research arm of the United States Congress. As a legislative branch agency within the Library of Congress, CRS works exclusively and directly for Members of Congress, their Committees and staff on a confidential, nonpartisan basis.[1]
Reports by the Congressional Research Service, usually referred to as CRS Reports, are the encyclopedic, public domain research reports written to clearly define issues in a legislative context. Over 700 new CRS reports are produced each year; almost 4,000 are currently in existence.
CRS reports are highly regarded as in-depth, accurate, objective and timely, and topped the list of "10 Most-Wanted Government Documents" in a 1996 survey by the Center for Democracy and Technology.[2]
As you can see on the following CRS Report for Congress on the Report RL32533 of July 7, 2005, title "Vieques and Culebra Islands: An Analysis of Environmental Cleanup Issues " examines the implications of the site listing for environmental cleanup You can find this Report on the following WikiLeaks Document Release Web Address http://wikileaks.org/wiki/CRS:_Vieques_and_Culebra_Islands:_An_Analysis_of_Environmental_Cleanup_Issues%2C_July_7%2C_2005 of February 2, 2009.
On the Abstract of the report indicate the following:
This report provides information on the listing of Vieques on the NPL, examines the implications of the site listing for environmental cleanup, indicates the status and estimated costs of cleaning up munitions and other environmental contamination on Vieques, and discusses cleanup actions and costs at nearby Culebra Island.
Summary
For decades, the U.S. Navy conducted ship-to-shore bombing exercises and other live-fire training activities on Vieques Island and Culebra Island, located off the coast of Puerto Rico. In response to concerns about risks to public safety, human health, and the environment, Congress directed the Navy to close its training facilities on Vieques Island in 2003 and to relocate them elsewhere. The Navy has begun to investigate the presence of munitions and related contamination on Vieques to determine the cleanup actions that will be necessary to protect human health and the environment, and has begun the surface removal of munitions in some areas. In 1974, Congress had enacted legislation that required the Navy to cease its training operations on Culebra Island, in response to similar public concerns. The Army Corps of Engineers has removed some munitions on Culebra to address safety hazards in publicly accessible areas, but has not begun a comprehensive cleanup of the island. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board are responsible for overseeing these actions. There has been rising public interest in the degree to which the Department of Defense (DOD) will be required to clean up both islands. The scope of the cleanup will depend on the type and extent of contamination found, and whether a pathway of human exposure exists. The National Defense Authorization Act for FY2002 (P.L. 107-107) prohibits public access within the Live Impact Area of the former bombing range on Vieques. Public access also may be limited in other areas due to the presence of munitions hazards. Since denying public access is intended to reduce safety threats, DOD may be allowed to remove fewer munitions than would be required otherwise. However, if contamination has leached from munitions and migrated to present a pathway of exposure, removal of more munitions may be required to protect human health. Possible pathways include the consumption of contaminated groundwater and contaminated fish or shellfish. At the request of the Governor of Puerto Rico, Sila M. Calderon, EPA listed Vieques on the National Priorities List (NPL) of the nation’s most hazardous waste sites on February 11, 2005. Listing a site on the NPL does not affect the stringency of the cleanup that is required or increase the availability of funding for the Navy to perform the cleanup. Rather, it identifies Vieques as a site that warrants further investigation to determine actions that are necessary to protect human health and the environment. The Governor also requested that EPA list Culebra on the NPL along with Vieques. However, EPA “elected to take no action” on its final listing decision for Culebra at that time, and reports that the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the Army are negotiating a Memorandum of Agreement to govern the cleanup. Regardless of the site listing decision, the degree of cleanup on either island will depend on threats to human health and the environment and the types of remediation that will be deemed necessary to address these threats. Whatever actions are required, the progress of cleanup will depend on the availability of federal funding to pay for the remediation. This report will be updated annually to track the status of cleanup on both islands.
The information provided in this report was originally prepared at the request of Representative Jose Serrano. It has been released in this format for general distribution to interested Members and Committees of Congress and their staff.

Deletion of Puerto Rican images
As you all know, certain situations among which are included my personal health, have led me take a leave of absence from Wikipedia, however I believe that the idea proposed by Angusmclellan is an excellent one. Instead of nominating Puerto Rican related images by the masses, the images which have problems will first be listed in the page which I just created: Wikipedia:WikiProject Puerto Rico/Images with problems. We will be given more then sufficient time as a "team" to find sources and make what ever fixes need be in order to keep them from being deleted. This is a Wiki-community team effort regardless of who uploaded the image. I ask all those who really care about the images related to Puerto Rico to post the link "Wikipedia:WikiProject Puerto Rico/Images with problems" in your "watchlists". Tony the Marine (talk) 01:33, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
- I know, it is an interesting twist. It came about as a result of the protests against of the mass deletion of images. I'm still firm about not making any more contributions, but with the burden and stress off my shoulders, I will be able to take my time and try to fix some of the images. I sent the message to the other "Boricuas", hoping that as a "team" we can work together to save or find substitute images, now that we have over three months before they are deleted. You could try to find adequate sources or maybe new images from books or something. So far there are no signs of rudeness or snarky remarks. Tony the Marine (talk) 03:20, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Cotto
If you check the articles on Pacquiao, Mayweather, and Mosley, for example, you will notice that they all have more headings than just "Welterweight". It is useful to have headings to help break up the text and for when there is a main article for a certain fight, such as Pacquiao vs. Cotto.
Fair enough. Check out Pacquiao's article now, do you think it is improved at all? I changed the headings a bit lol. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ollie87 (talk • contribs) 00:08, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

Hey my brother, how's it going? Even though I decided to not make any more contributions tto the project< I am still checking to see if I can fix most of the images which I uploaded anyway. The system is fine since we have more time, but I expected a little more team work from the others (I know that you were busy with your exams). I have solved some, but we need sources for some others. There are some cases where the nominator in my opinion is downright wrong. For example, there is no reason for the Esteves image to be there since it is PD, punto y se acabo, and the one of Jesus Colon shouldn't be there at all, but he wants it to be eliminated from to articles using the same ridculus arguement, to no avail, that he used in the Ponce Masscre Image. Reversal
Let me start by saying that there should be more communitacion between administrators. I know there is no bad intended, but the extra work is really annoying me, although not with you or anyone in particular. Let me try to explain for the third time.
1. Since there are possibilities for an integrated men´s, women´s and junior´s national basketball team page, I thought a move was not the best idea. That is why I created the "Puerto Rico men's national basketball team" article and made a redirect with possibilities in the original "Puerto Rico national basketball team" article. I was planning to work on that when I finished updating the men´s and find more time.
2. Two reversals to my changes were made and unmade by admins, both of them finally approving the changes. I include here links to their talk page for my conversation with them.
3. If you decide to finally leave only the "men's" page without the redirect on the original article, please revert it at least to the latest. The current one is an old version, after which I did many changes. Looking at the page history, I see that the many hours I spent this weekend are lost since you reverted to a previous version and my updates don´t appear any more in the history. If you can, at least, revert it back to my update from "21:33, 29 January 2010" which, although not the lastest version, is at least not as old as the one you reverted to.
I know it is not your fault. I do see you that didn´t read the discussion page of the new article, where I had copied the discussions from the original article so they wouldn´t be lost and has started a new section explaining the problems I had. --Coquidragon (talk) 23:41, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry. You are right! I went in to correct some broken links to sections within articles, and then decided to update links to disambiguations and to separate cities from countries in the references, and so on. My comment on the "Edit summary" did not actually reflect the work I had done.
- I think that this current page do has the latest changes I made. Thanks so much for taking care of this so fast, and I apologize for any inconvenience caused by this. By the way, thanks for the barnstar. I plan to continue to work on this page and maybe also on some others.--Coquidragon (talk) 00:44, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
PR Images Pt. 2
I know what you mean. The good thing about the concept is that we are allowed 100 days to work on the images. The only thing is that the at times the situation gets a little ridiculous.
I noticed that Damiens is not targeting Puerto Ricans after checking his current nominations and that it is his/her way of doing things. But, it seems as if there is always something that he/her finds wrong. First it may be the source. If you provide a source, then it maybe who is the creator of the image, if you provide the creator, then it is the rationale. It seems to never end. I have fixed many of he images, pero the scrutiny is stressing. Tony the Marine (talk) 07:24, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
I also forgot, the big deal which is made about images which are over 100 years old and obviously PD. Why the big fuzz on the sources used and who took the photo? You know what I mean? Tony the Marine (talk) 00:15, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
- Here is an example: [3].You know the funny thing about all this is that these people are coming up with so many damn rules for nothing. Wikipedia will never be nor will it ever be considered a reliable encyclopedia as long as anyone can edit it. I mean for example, there are a lot of serious people among us who have put in a lot of time and effort in making this an educational project to educate others about the true history and contributions of our Puerto Rico and then we have to put up with all the vandals who mess up our work. Policy is lenient on them because everyone can edit, but on the other hand we also have to put up with those people who are inventing exaggerating rules and conditions (such as in the images), targeting us (by "us" I mean every good-faithed editor), the people who have made this project what it is. What's the use? Tony the Marine (talk) 05:40, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
I have a question. I have updated all the tables in the article with data directly from the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) page. [3][4] Yesterday, someone modified the wiki article citing a newspaper without internet link. I don´t doubt the correction might be correct, but I have no way to double check the information. The author of the change states that the Official FIBA page has an error. I am talking about the 1988 FIBA Americas tournament. I really don´t know who won. FIBA states that Puerto Rico, while the author of the change states that it was Brazil. I don´t want to start a Edit war. What should I do?--Coquidragon (talk) 15:36, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

ICP Images
- O.K., here is the answer from the Secretary of State/Lt. Governor of Puerto Rico in representation of the people of Puerto Rico:
"Tony, The images the IPC uses in its publications, as well as the portraits of Governors and First Ladies (which hang in La Fortaleza---although the Governors', that will hang at the State Department for 2 weeks beginning next Monday), Senate Presidents and House Speakers (which hang at the Capitol), the Secretaries of State photos, which hang at my Department, and so forth, are clearly in the public domain because: (1) nobody is paid for their continuous use, and, (2) the government does not claim payment from anyone from their reproduction and use. I hope this is of help to you.

Only the written work of the ICP is copyrighted since it is an original, but not the images. Some of these people here think that I am a stupid clown (you know who I mean) and do not realize that I am appreciated by the people of Puerto Rico for my work. I also recieved this mesage with goes in tone with the question in regard to the pictures of the former Secretary of the Puerto Rico Senate:
"Tony, In the case of the portraits of Governors, First Ladies, Senate Presidents and House Speakers, these paintings were commissioned and paid for by the Government, for public use, with public funds, so they may be reproduced freely. No artist has any rights over such portraits, having sold the portraits and rights appurtenant to their work to the people of Puerto Rico. Hope this may be of help. KDM"
Therefore, I will once again upload the image of McClitock anf forward this message to "OTRS". Tony the Marine (talk) 20:23, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- This is what I did. I uploaded File:01 KDM.jpg and frowarded McClintocks message to OTRS. If that works then I'll be fine to do the same to the other images of the Sec. of the PR States. I also requested that a PD tag be created for the images of the ICP, based on other message which he sent me indicating that the images of the ICP are also PD. Something is wrong
Caribbean, in the List of Governors of Puerto Rico article, something seems to be wrong. There was a governor around 1898 called General Ricardo de Ortega y Diez. When I look at the article, for the photo of General Ricardo de Ortega y Diez, it is showing what seems to be a young track and field athlete in full color, but when I click on that photo, it shows this http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/File:Ortega.jpg, which is the picture of an older man with a mustache and dressed in a military outfit. Are we doing anything with the Salsa article? How come the majority of the founding Salsa interpreters were Puerto Rican but they are being excluded from the article as founders?
I always thought Salsa was a genre that came to life in New York with multicultural influence from the Caribbean including Puerto Rico. Saying it is merely Cuban would be like saying "Reggaeton is from Jamaica because it has influence from Jamaican music".

I noticed that the new Wiki format began yesterday, May 13th. I don't like it too much. I don't know if it is just me, but in my computor it is much slower then the "old" format. I didn't know about Javier Culson. Just goes to show you, our nation, Puerto Rico is "la cuna" of a great people. Too bad that there are so many "so-called" Puerto Ricans that are too blind or stupid or just plain greedy to recognize and accept these fatcs. Tony the Marine (talk) 21:43, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
- What do you think of Helen Rodriguez-Trias? Wasn't she an amazing lady? Tony the Marine (talk) 18:47, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
Memorial Day
Thank you for your message. You know, Memorial Day was created so that the American people will honor and remember their fallen soldiers. However, with the exception of those who have a family member killed in action, that is the least that they do. Memorial Day, instead has become another insignificant day of celebration for those who are greedy. For most Americans, it has become one less day of work, a day to have a party and to get drunk, a day for business owners to put on sale whatever it is that they can't normally sell.I heard a DJ in the radio say "Happy Memorial Day." Iask myself, what is so happy about remembering a lost loved one?
I feel sad not only for the hundreds of Puerto Ricans who have died in combat and their families, but also for all those who have died in senseless wars which are a result of greedy people and/or nations who want to expand and impose their influence upon others regardless of the cost of lives.
When I was to leave for Vietnam, I was very gung-ho and naive. I remember meeting some of the Marines who had finished their tour, who were returning home. One of them was a Puerto Rican whose name I can't recall. His face was disfigured from a grenade and he had a bullet in his chest that the doctors could not remove it was too close to his heart. Every Memorial Day I remember and pray for him and all our brave warriors. Tu amigo, Tony the Marine (talk) 19:58, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Another collaboration?
¡Oye Carribean! Long time no see, how have you been? Remember the last time we collaborated and got Hector Lavoe a featured article? Well I was thinking we could another collaboration, this time on "Contra La Corriente" by Marc Anthony. Would that be alright? Magiciandude (talk) 01:07, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks, I appreciated. :) Magiciandude (talk) 06:29, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Users requesting adoption
Hey Caribbean H.Q.! You're listed as an available adopter, and there is currently a backlog of users looking for adoption. I've cleared out as much of it as I could, but there are still several users waiting for an offer. If you would be willing to assist any of these users, please take a look at the backlog (or feel free to spread this message to any adopter you know). Thanks! SwarmTalk 03:48, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

Busy?
Hola Amigo,
Patriota, I see you are busy in real life. One day we'll have to bring back our "Dual Dinamico" and improve some articles. Anyway, I'm still having problems with my computer and working at times from my daughters. Saludos. Tony the Marine (talk) 22:36, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

WP:PUR revamp
Hey, I don't know if you'd recall me, but I've gone by the names "Lex94" and "Raaggio" on Wikipedia. I've had very small conversations with you in the past, and some on WT:PUR and WT:PW. The recent I'm posting is because I'd like you to take a look at the design changes I did for WP:PUR and WT:PW plus the section I posted at WT:PUR.
Because you're an admin and I've always considered you "The Godfather" of WP:PUR, I'd like your insight on everything. Also, I'd like your help in trying to make WP:PUR as successful as possible. I'm going to dedicate myself fully to WP:PUR in the near future and try to take it to new limits.
Not only would I appreciate your help and insight, but I will be honored to have it.
Thanks, Feedback (talk) 05:40, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
New Template
- Hola mi hermano, que haces? I recently succeeded in getting some photos released into the public domain from the Puerto Rican State Historic Preservation Office and created the template for such images, upon User:Quazgaa's request. See:Good news. The template which I created to be used on the images from the Puerto Rican State Historic Preservation Office is the following: {{PD-PRGov-PRSHP}}
Glad to see u around
Mi mano derecha, I'm glad to see back here. I'm happy that things have gone fine with your university studies. Right now, I am not doing much because my computer is out of order and I am using my daughters, but once I get it fixed we will team up as "El Duo Dinamico" and work on some articles. I did expand Antonio R. Barcelo, Liberal Party (Puerto Rico), Rio Piedras massacre and the "History" section of the Yauco articles before my computer failed. I think that they look much better now. Help to upload images
Hi, I had been working on the article of the University of Puerto Rico. I created List of University of Puerto Rico people. However, on the main article I would like to uploads some photos so it look like the gallery of Notable alumni on Florida International University. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kako13 (talk • contribs) 15:45, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
I agree. Ricardo Alvarez-Diaz and the other two are not notable and should be nominated for deletion. some people think that Wikipedia is a venue to make themselves famous or known. Wikipedia is to make known those who have made positive contributions to our society. If you nominate for deletion let me know, I'll be there to second it. Scrolling References
Oops, Sorry but I just thought it was a good idea...especially for those that have like 153 references...oh well. I'll add the Manual of Style to my reading list. Thanks for keeping me out of trouble! Quazgaa (talk) 23:33, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Hugo Margenat
Ever hear of Hugo Margenat? To tell you the truth, I'm ashamed to say that I never heard of him until I wrote about him. Life is a continuous learning experience. Tony the Marine (talk) 21:47, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Hola
I really missed having you around here. Wikipedia is a much better place with you. Tony the Marine (talk) 20:42, 24 October 2013 (UTC)
- Once again I'm glad that you are here. One time we had a good group of Boricuas looking after the articles, but most of them are no longer here and the only ones that were left were Mercy, Nelson and myself. That is way your presence here is very important. By the way, you know that in the past I have been harassed by other users who couldn't stand the fact that I wrote the truth about Puerto Rico, well now I have been honored by the Wikipedia Foundation for my work and they created a "blog" about me. Not bad, right? Tony the Marine (talk) 06:27, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
Glad to see you're back as well! Erick (talk) 16:40, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
Guanica, PR
Something unexpected happened today. Since it is Veteran's Day, I spent the day outside of my home with my family. When I returned, I found out that I honored in a speech made in Guanica, making the day kind of special. I want to share it with you:

Cofresi
Hola. Thanks for working on the Cofresi article. I went to the library today motivated by el pirata, I found that they moved the book "offsite" so I have to make a request and wait. The point is that this article in Wikipedia has become the 1 source online as the lack of available online reliablesources show. I wish I had more time to dedicate to the project. As soon as I have more info I would let you know. Adelante! Jmundo (talk) 18:27, 12 November 2013 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for November 28
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited IWA Undisputed World Heavyweight Championship, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ryan Wilson (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
