No explanation of topic. No context whatsoever.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Your articles

[edit]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. However, most of your articles provide no context whatsoever. You need to provide context so that readers know what they are reading about. ‡ Єl Cid of ᐺalencia ᐐT₳LKᐬ 13:32, 24 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You now seem to have gone to the opposite extreme, creating articles which are entirely adornment and no text. There is a middle ground which doesn't rely on having other people clean up after you.
I'll move your recent creations to draft where you can work on them until they're ready for publication. Cabayi (talk) 08:10, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

New Mecodema species

[edit]

Hi Dave,

It looks like Stephen Thorpe is being his usual unconstructive self, and just took out all the species names you added to the Mecodema list. While he's right in that the reference for all of them is not yet published, you know it's coming out and so do I and I'm not sure what harm there would be in letting the list stand for now. But, he's playing by the rules. My advice would be to hold off for now, or keep a draft in your sandbox, and when the paper is published we can go through and improve the article together. —Giantflightlessbirds (talk) 07:39, 15 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mike, I can understand that he took out the new species, but he also removed the valid species (and subspecies) that are the result of publications unlike Mecodema puiakium, which I dont recognise as a valid species. As usual with Stephen, he only recognises himself as an authority and therefore I will keep readding the valid species. He has been contacting me via iNaturalist regarding the publication. —carabidave

A tag has been placed on Category:Beetles described by Broun requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Hi Carabidave,

I hope you don't mind me barging in and making all those changes on that article, but its initial version might have been tagged for speedy deletion, as it didn't actually indicate what it was about.

It would appear that the genus Orthoglymma is a monotypic taxon, and its only described species is O. wangapeka. (I guess the species epithet relates to the NZ locality Wangapeka, for which there is only one existing en.wp article - Wangapeka River.)

There's an article name guideline about critters like this: WP:MONOTYPICTAXA.

Hope this helps. Pete AU aka --Shirt58 (talk) 09:20, 27 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
