Sorry I rolled back over you

I checked the history due to past disruption at Talk:Cock and ball torture, and rolled back to before the IP started editing, which wiped out your edit request removal. Sorry about that. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 10:51, 15 June 2022 (UTC)

No worries, I probably ought to have reverted as far back as you did anyway. Cannolis (talk) 10:54, 15 June 2022 (UTC)

Dear Cannolis you ask for Resource except Youtube.

Hi Cannolis

You reverted my additions to page https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Nanga_Parbat&action=history with comment "WP:YOUTUBE is not considered RS, need another source for this". Do you find acceptable non-English sources? If yes, I can add plenty of them in Russian. For example "https://tech.onliner.by/2021/02/12/belorusskij-alpinist" But nevertheless, could you explain why YouTube is not good enough If it shows the truth?

Best wishes, Dmitry — Preceding unsigned comment added by AprilBSU (talkcontribs) 17:59, 23 June 2022 (UTC)

See WP:RSPYT and WP:SELFPUB for why we generally don't use Youtube as a source. There is no prohibition against non English sources, but any source we used must be considered reliable and on the English Wikipedia it may be harder to find editors who are knowledgeable on the subject and can help determine WP:REPUTABLE. I think it's ridiculous and plain wrong that a fake hit-piece WSJ article about Elon Musk is apparently counted as credible source about the breakup of Sergey Brin and his ex wife. Bengal Famine (1943)

Hello, @Cannolis. I noticed that you have reverted my edits on the Bengal famine of 1943, on the grounds that my citations were not adequate. I looked back at my revisions in the edit history, and the citations removed were NOT my original citations. Somehow there seems to have been some strange glitch, and my citations were changed. I never put in a zoology citation for the Bengal famine page. I had cited a Guardian article and a Conversation article, and somehow that strange Zoology citation replaced my citation of The Conversation. As for the quote from Churchill, it is an authentic quote from The Guardian. Professor Penguino (talk) 19:48, 16 October 2022 (UTC)

Gulf Cup

Hello. Hello. I wanted to correct the name of this article, but I realized that the article is locked. I noticed that there are many discussions on the discussion page.

Talk:Arabian Gulf Cup

I am not very familiar with the laws, but I know that if it is to be reformed, it should be solved in politics and the outside world. But here another big forgery has occurred. The tournament has been renamed to the Arabian Gulf since 2018. But one of the users has changed the name of all the first 23 courses to Arabian Gulf in an obvious fraud. I spent hours trying to find it. I looked at some of the articles on the Asian continent. The name change is not related to the previous articles.

Gulf Cup of Nations

According to the documents below, please return all the first 23 articles to the correct and previous name. Do this in the main article as well. And it should be noted that from 1970 to 2018 it was held under the name of the Gulf Nations Cup and from 2019 until now under the name of the Arab Gulf.

https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Special:Contributions&end=2018-02-03&namespace=all&start=2018-02-03&tagfilter=&target=Hashim-afc&offset=20180203215215

Hashim-afc - An obvious forgery has been done by them. The original name of the first 23 courses should be returned with the same name as held. thank you

for example:

AFC U-19 Championship renamed to AFC U-20 Asian Cup but:

Tournament Names

1959–2006: AFC Youth Championship - 2006 AFC Youth Championship

2008–2020: AFC U-19 Championship - 2008 AFC U-19 Championship

2023–Ongoing: AFC U-20 Asian Cup - 2023 AFC U-20 Asian Cup — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mexxsa (talkcontribs) 12:19, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

Really not understanding what you are requesting. You could bring up your concerns at Talk:Arabian Gulf Cup though I would warn against making claims that another editor is making "obvious forgeries", see WP:AGF and WP:CIVIL. Cannolis (talk) 19:45, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

Hello.

https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Template%3AArabian_Gulf_Cup&diff=815644933&oldid=814576713

Based on the logic and also the name of the articles that I said above, Changing the name of a competition is not retroactive. I have nothing to do with the 2019 and 2023 matches. But as you can see, the first to twenty-third courses were held under the name of the Golf Cup, not the Arabian Gulf. In 2018, the user renamed all old competitions to new ones. Do you agree that this is wrong?

Suppose FIFA changed the name of its competition. Should all old courses be changed to new names? Definitely not. (for example: fifa world cup rename to World Football championship). New articles will be created with the new official name and old articles will remain with the same old name. I can find dozens of similar routines on Wikipedia. I have shown one above about the Asian Youth Championships.

I have a request:

1- Articles from 1970 to 2018 should be returned to their original names. Changing the Arabian Gulf routes to them should also be removed.

1970 Gulf Cup of Nations to 2017 Gulf Cup of Nations

2- Template:Arabian Gulf Cup and Arabian Gulf Cup also be corrected (for 1970-2018).

I have nothing to do with the current name of the tournament. I mean the names that were wrongly manipulated by the user Hashim for articles from 1970 to 2018 due to ethnic prejudices.

Wikipedia rules do not change old names either:

https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/FIFA_U-20_World_Cup#Results

1991 FIFA World Youth Championship - 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup : 1977–2005: "FIFA World Youth Championship" 2007–present: "FIFA U-20 World Cup"

All old names remain because no user has changed them to their own favorite names. This should be done here as well.

In official sources, there is no such thing as the Arabian Gulf. But this should be pursued through legal and international law. I just want the articles from 1970 to 2018 to be returned to their original names, which were the Gulf Cup of Nations. Thankful — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mexxsa (talkcontribs) 11:37, 18 January 2023 (UTC)

Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation was established in May 2016. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mexxsa (talkcontribs) 12:01, 18 January 2023 (UTC)

Okay, thanks for explaining what you want done. However, this is still something that should be brought up on Talk:Arabian Gulf Cup for other editors to discuss, not here on my talk page where I'm the only one reading it. Something that may support your argument would be reliable sources(also read WP:RS on this as things like the iranpress.com article you linked here are definitely not considered reliable) showing that the English phrase "Gulf Cup of Nations" was being used officially up until 2018. Though looking at the history of the cup, not sure if this would even really help - I can't even see who was arranging the cup prior to the formation of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation in 2016, so not sure who would be authoritative body. Cannolis (talk) 18:26, 18 January 2023 (UTC)

Hello again. Please move this entire discussion section to the article's talk page. I am not familiar with the procedures. Let's see what others have to say. And I can find more resources. But I must say that if the name of this competition was Arabian Gulf from the beginning, its articles would have been written with that name from the beginning. In fact, the user of Hashim should find reliable sources for this transfer without discussion and investigation, that the competitions have been held since 1970 under the name of the Arabian Gulf. With respect. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mexxsa (talkcontribs) 16:00, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

If you want to make a post on Talk:Arabian Gulf Cup feel free to do so but I am not interested in copying this discussion or making a post there on your behalf. If you have concerns about procedures, read WP:TPG and definitely read WP:RS. Would also advise against just copying this discussion there as well, try to collate your argument and sources together better first. Since you claim that the prior name change was done "without discussion", you should also review prior consensus at the move discussion on that talk page. Finally, I would also advise against bringing up this Persian Gulf naming stuff as that has pretty much nothing to do with this, and doing so makes you come off as a crusader against anything named "Arabian Gulf". Cannolis (talk) 21:06, 21 January 2023 (UTC)

Source

Hello. I put the reasons and sources in the discussion page of the article. I have nothing more to say. I am waiting for the users who claim the title of the Arabian Gulf to provide their reasons and sources for the matches from 1970 to 2018. If they were unable to do so, I would expect all the articles to be returned to the correct names. And all the sublinks should be removed from the template and the main article. With respect and thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mexxsa (talkcontribs) 16:57, 24 January 2023 (UTC)

If your IP is being used by multiple people, you're going to get escalating warnings. Removing pretty well sourced content without an edit summary is pretty indistinguishable from vandalism and given prior recent edits from your IP, a good reason for high level warnings. Great Gama

Hi Cannolis I noticed you were part of a discussion on the talk page of this article and it was decided not to mention nationality and leave the lead as "was an pehlwani wrestler and strongman in British India." Recently an editor has forced Indian as nationality into the article without reason [1] the neutral version is far more appropriate as the nationality is heavily disputed. This source for example states British India and later Pakistani as nationality [2] Another source which states "Indian and then Pakistani after partition" [3] I believe removing nationality as discussed earlier was the best thing I think protection may also needed to prevent these disputes. We can revert test edits

It's my opinion that AGF is for suckers. When you see test edits on talk pages like Help talk:Referencing for beginners I think you're safe to just revert as vandalism and warn the IP involved. Responding "not done" just fills up the archive needlessly. I appreciate you being active at Help talk:Referencing for beginners and simply reverting is a better use of your time. I see you're coming up on fifteen years as a Wikipedian, which is a hell of a thing. I can send you an invite in April if you like. Chris Troutman (talk) 15:27, 13 January 2024 (UTC)

Since almost all my edits have been reverting vandalism, sometimes I feel that being too much of a hammer makes everything look like nails, and that translates to possibly being too wary of biting a new account that ended up never making another edit. Agree I could probably lean more towards reverting nonsensical requests, thanks for the feedback. What's this about an invite? Cannolis (talk) 19:48, 13 January 2024 (UTC)
WP:BDC recognizes birthdays and anniversaries of our editor base as part of WikiProject retention. I added you to the calendar. In the past I've handed out membership invites on behalf of WP:TYS, WP:FTYS, and WP:XXYS since many editors really like the appreciation but some folks find the annual user talk page messages annoying, which is why I ask. Please review Renee Alway article for WP:VERIFY and related violations

As a protected article, the above referenced work must hone strictly to WP policy and guideline standards, as it cannot naturally evolve in the direction of compliance through serial small edits.

We note that at least one paragraph in the article—e.g., see the Early life section presenting allegations regarding her father—makes biographical/historical claims based not on secondary or tertiary sources, but rather on a primary source, and a single autobiographical one at that. (The specific claim referenced is one by the title subject, made in an episode of a television series.)

Because that claim can reasonably be inferred to apply to another individual yet living, the standards of WP: BLP apply (not just to the title subject, but also to other individuals described).

We argue that it is utterly inappropriate by WP policy and guideline standards to state as fact anything about a living person based solely on the autobiographical claim of another individual in a primary source.

The specific edit we recommend, at least, is that the detail from the primary source be reduced until a secondary source can be found, and likewise, that the word like "alleged" or "claimed" be included in the description—because that is the best that can be said, that one individual has alleged conduct on the part of a second individual (both BLP).

This edit is both true to the source involved, and true to the principles reflected in WP:BLP and WP:VERIFY.
