Old translations in user space
Hi, you closed Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User DancingwiththeAllstars creations as delete because of Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia (no attribution).
I am finding related pages in user space (mainly user talk), similar drafts in Spanish about dancing and wrestling shows:
- https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Special:PrefixIndex?prefix=Lapistadebaile%2F&namespace=3
- https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Special:PrefixIndex?prefix=RealityStars%2F&namespace=3
- User:RealityStars/WWE Women's Superstars
Can these be speedily deleted if they are unattributed translations of English articles?
Other pages do not seem to be translations of English articles, but drafts on sub-topics of doubtful notability e.g. individual seasons or spin-off shows. I don't know why they would use enwiki to do this in Spanish. – Fayenatic London 11:14, 30 November 2022 (UTC)
- Fayenatic london I would say yes. I would use batch deletion saying something like "[[Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#G6. Technical deletions|WP:CSD#G6 housekeeping and routine (non-controversial) cleanup, possible Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#G12. Unambiguous copyright infringement. See user for more information." I'd do it now but I'm on the way out the house. I'll be back later and check. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 21:04, 30 November 2022 (UTC)

Flair Accident and Incidents
Hey there,
New ti Wikipedia but added Accidents and Incidents to Flair Airlines after a runway Excursion in November. You said the incident wasn't notable, but many airlines have their runway excursions listed in Wikipedia. Feels like this is more of a matter of your opinion than a matter of Wikipedia consistency. Readsmorethanwrites (talk) 19:49, 6 December 2022 (UTC)
- Minor runway excursions are not notable and the fact that other articles contains them is an indication they should be removed. Adding runway excursions would add multiple incidents to every airline. It's not encyclopedic. As to it being my opinion please read Wikipedia:WikiProject Airlines/page content#Incidents and accidents and Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation/Aircraft accidents and incidents. Also incidents are not normally presented in table format. Ahunt do you have an opinion on this? CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 23:02, 6 December 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the ping there. Yes I agree, runway excursions are generally minor incidents, with little or no damage and no injuries or deaths. The most common case is a slightly high, or hot approach on a marginal length, wet runway and the nosewheel ends up off the end, in the mud. Embarrassing, but the aircraft is usually back in service quickly, after a deplane, tow and inspection. These are WP:RUNOFTHEMILL as incidents go and in most cases just not notable for an encyclopedia article. As noted, if other articles have similar non-notable incidents they should be removed. Most are added by well-intentioned, but new editors, who just assume if it made the local news that it belongs in Wikipedia. See WP:NOTNEWS. - Ahunt (talk) 00:16, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for linking the project info! I know that it’s been a couple weeks and the aircraft hasn’t flown since, it’s still in Kitchener. The full aircraft also left the runway, so I’ll keep an eye on any damage reports and update from there.
Table formatting was copied from Air Canada I believe. Readsmorethanwrites (talk) 05:26, 8 December 2022 (UTC)

- Valjean The best I can come up with is from page 70 on The Aleuts and the Pacific Eskimo in the colonial economy of Russian Alaska in the mid 19th century", quote: "The Aleut and the Pacific Eskimo resembled their Indian neighbors more than their Eskimo cousins". Hi there, Happy New Year. I was wondering if I could trouble you to look at a user who is edit warring to spam this article with an unsourced TV show espisode. The user has been warned repeatedly at User talk:Harry Whe for edit warring, adding unsourced text and what looks like an undeclared COI as well on his talk page, as he has claimed to have inside information from the show's director in his edit summaries. His contribution history seem to show that most of his edits are to promote the same TV across a wide range of aircraft accident articles. He has now made four reverts to this article, even after all the warnings from two different editors. If you need detailed diffs I can provide them. Thanks for looking at this. - Ahunt (talk) 20:24, 31 December 2022 (UTC)

Photo ideas
Hi, I know this is really out of the blue, and please feel free to ignore this if it's too much, but I was wondering if I could ask a favour of you. I created an article on an Inuit politician, Simonie Michael, and I brought it to GA. You've already helped to improve this article, bringing it to my attention that I didn't have the grammar quite right on Inuk/Inuuk/Inuit (you can still see traces of that conversation on the Talk Page). Now I've decided to begin the push to get the article to FA. One big area that I know the article could improve in is images, but it's just so darn hard to even figure out where to begin in getting relevant photos. If I Google Image search Simonie Michael I see two super grainy photos of him (basically the same photo), supposedly from some really old CBC article, but the article itself no longer has those images so I don't even know who they belong to! And the only other existing photo is a sculpture of his, which even if I could use it, wouldn't really make the article much better. So, here's where the favour comes in. I know that Cambridge Bay is extremely distant from Iqaluit, where Simonie Michael lived, but you're the only active Wikipedian I know of with a connection to Nunavut, so I was just wondering if you might have any connections or any ideas that might help to get a good photograph of anything related to Simonie Michael. I doubt we can get a photo of the man himself, but maybe someone could take a picture of a building similar to the ones that Simonie Michael's company built, or a photo of Simonie Michael's boat at Apex beach, or anything more related than the random pictures of towns that I've currently populated the page with. Any ideas help! Thanks so much for any thought you might be able to give this. - Astrophobe (talk) 15:00, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- I've messaged a friend on Quora in the hopes that he might have something. He live in Resolute Bay, Nunavut in the 1960s. I'll see what he has to say. I'll try a couple of Facebook groups. You may want to try the Governments of the NWT and Nunavut and the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre to see if they have anything. Cheers. Hello, CambridgeBayWeather,
I just thought I'd let you know that there was just an AFD about this individual, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ajai Sharma (Chef), so future articles, if you come across them, could also be tagged CSD G4. That article was written by Ajai Sharma himself or so he identified his account. Thanks for protecting the page title. Liz Read! Talk! 05:32, 1 February 2023 (UTC)

Please explain
How 2-day-old articles violate the (new-ish?) 90-day guideline? Did you decide to undo all of my moves without looking at the articles or talk on the user's page? Articles associated with Ashley Flowers have a history of PR work. This user seemed to be not involved with that, but I'd encouraged them to take the 1-2 source articles on Anatomy of Murder, CounterClock, and Audiochuck to something passable before taking the articles to deletion, which is within guidelines, is it not? DiamondRemley39 (talk) 10:07, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
- The only three that could have possibly been sent to draft were Audiochuck, Anatomy of Murder (podcast) and CounterClock. The other five were created between 2007 and 2016. Didn't qualify for drafting. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 13:07, 1 February 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Ayit Aviation
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Ayit Aviation requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Please do not remove flags
If they are so called "inappropriate use" then explain why they are used on all the provinces pages? - Not everybody knows what the flags are. They are used on the provincial pages, like Nunavut, because that provides information. Those flags such as Demographics of Nunavut provide no information. Plus they violate Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Linking#What generally should not be linked

- Ah. Sports related pages. Not something I'm clear on. I would think that moving "year Star World Championships" to "year Star World Championship" is probably correct. I'm not sure that moving Brynäs IF Dam to Brynäs IF (women) is much of an improvement, except it's English. For women's teams there seems to be several way to list them. See Category:Women's Super League teams. I have seen "team name" as a disambiguation to both a women's and men's team but not many and I can't find one right now.

Page Moved to Draft
Hello,
I see you moved this page to draft - https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:Yarden_(musician) Any additional context as to why? so that it can get reviewed as I didnt quiet catch that on the change update. Thanks. 12closecall (talk) 20:52, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
- It wasn't clear that he meets the requirements at Wikipedia:Notability (music). CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 20:59, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hey,
- Thank you for a speedy response. I appreciate it. The references were reviewed by other writers and had a feedback from a reviewer in the wiki chat who said the references were enough to validate the notability of this artist. The artist gain media notability late last year through viral songs that charted in several apple music, spotify charts worldwide and articles. Is their a forum I could contest this or any additional recommendation from yourself on how to proceed with this.
- Thanks. 12closecall (talk) 21:16, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
- Can you point to the Wiki chat so I can look it over an possibly restore the page. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 21:20, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
- This was #wikipedia-en-help I am not sure if I can send a link directly to it. I was working on a draft article that reference this artist and another one. As part of that discussion we discussed the work and references for this artist and another one (didn't work on that yet) and decided it was better to focus on just this artist and the other one instead because that original subject did not have enough references for notability. But this one did. My name in the chat room is RedLemur74. 12closecall (talk) 21:34, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
- I have also had other people looking at it as shown in the history panel and made small changes without any challenge to the notability. 12closecall (talk) 21:36, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
- I've moved it back based on that even if I can't see it. Going forward if something comes up like that again ask the person or people involved to make the points on the article talk page as well. Just for your protection. There were a lot of fuss years ago about discussions in chat rooms that were not available on Wikipedia. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 21:41, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
- Okay will do. Understood. Thanks. 12closecall (talk) 21:42, 18 April 2023 (UTC)

crimean tatar gypsy move to romani
You changed the page from crimean tatar gypsy to crimean tatar romani, but that is exactly the mistake. This group does not call themselves Romani. Therefore the term gypsy was correct. The translation of the self-designated word Cingene is gypsy not roma. Please do not always compare all groups with this European Roma who do not want to call gypsy. Not every romani like group is a romani group. A pity. This page is now gone, out of context. Tatarsko (talk) 14:01, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
- Moved to Crimean Tatar Gypsies. Pages about people are always at the plural and not the singular. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 14:50, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
You locked the redirect at Belagavi, and the edit summary cites vandalism. In looking over the history, I don't see vandalism, although I do see what was probably disruptive editing. So my question is whether there was vandalism in the strict sense that I don't see in the history, or whether this is a case where you were choosing options from a limited pick list in Twinkle, or what. Robert McClenon (talk) 00:40, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
- There's only a limited selection on Twinkle. It would have been better if I had used the generic and then written in disruptive. Do you think I should redo it? CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 00:45, 21 April 2023 (UTC)

Lake City High School
Hey, thanks for your cleanup of the moves, etc. on Lake City High School. Your approach was clearly cleaner than mine.
I have one question, though, and that's on the reinsertion of the hatnote on Lake City High School (South Carolina). My understanding is that such a hatnote is not to be used under WP:NAMB ("preferable not to have a hatnote when the name of the article is not ambiguous"). Do I misunderstand that? - Following an RfC, editors indefinitely site-banned by community consensus will now have all rights, including sysop, removed.
- As a part of the Wikimedia Foundation's IP Masking project, a new policy has been created that governs the access to temporary account IP addresses. An associated FAQ has been created and individual communities can increase the requirements to view temporary account IP addresses.
- Bot operators and tool maintainers should schedule time in the coming months to test and update their tools for the effects of IP masking. IP masking will not be deployed to any content wiki until at least October 2023 and is unlikely to be deployed to the English Wikipedia until some time in 2024.
- The arbitration case World War II and the history of Jews in Poland has been closed. The topic area of Polish history during World War II (1933-1945) and the history of Jews in Poland is subject to a "reliable source consensus-required" contentious topic restriction.
- Following a community referendum, the arbitration policy has been modified to remove the ability for users to appeal remedies to Jimbo Wales.
Palak Jain
Hi @CambridgeBayWeather, I hope you're doing well. I tagged few articles related to Palak Jain, but I found all of them are different, but the only relation is that they're Indian television actresses.
- Palak Jain - [1]
- Palak Jain (Actress) - [2]
- Palak Jain (TV actress) - [3]
- Palak Jain (Television Actress) - [4]
Hence you can verify and revert your edit. And Courtesy ping to @GB fan and @Bbb23. Thanks, stay safe. C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 15:15, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
- However, it should be "Palak Jain (actress)" without the capital. And I'm not sure if any of them are notable and the Palak Jain (Actress) was created by a sockpuppet. CambridgeBayWeather (solidly non-human), Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 15:29, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @CambridgeBayWeather, I was trying to convey that we can't redirect all 4 BLPs to the same target, just because they're not notable yet. Thanks C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 15:47, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
- Are you suggesting that Palak Jain (Actress) and Palak Jain (actress) be deleted? Other than the first none are actual articles. The second is a redirect and the last two don't exist. Given that the only notable one is the first then the sensible thing is to redirect the others to her. CambridgeBayWeather (solidly non-human), Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 16:33, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
- @CambridgeBayWeather, let me simplify, we should disambiguate Palak Jain based on their birth year. I'm not going into notability aspect. Here as we know their are 4 different living person named Palak Jain and all are associated with the entertainment field. And only Palak Jain is notable enough to have article on Wikipedia. So we should redirect the rest 3 blps to their debut tv series article. But changing the redirect location of Palak Jain (Actress) to Palak Jain is wrong as they both are different. This is all my suggestions and I'm not requesting or proposing deletion. Thanks C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 16:54, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
- Better to redirect all of them to the existing article as Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega has no real information on Jain. The fourth doesn't say what her first role was and Mann Sundar has no real information on Jain. And Yeh Pyaar Nahi Toh Kya Hai has no real information on Jain. Plus there is no real way to tell if they are different women. Plus all the articles would need multiple hat notes. Is there any sources to show all four birth dates? CambridgeBayWeather (solidly non-human), Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 17:23, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
- Um, I'm only here because I was pinged. My only comment is that I removed the DOB from Palak Jain because it was unsourced. Back to you CBW.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:19, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Bbb23 Yes I pinged both of you as a courtesy and there is nothing wrong if you removed unsourced DOB. It's just that CBW and GB both changed the redirect location Palak Jain (Actress) to Palak Jain which is wrong, but the EmausBot edit is the correct. So that's my point of starting the discussion. C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 06:25, 8 June 2023 (UTC)
- @CambridgeBayWeather the articles about the series would contain information related to the series but not in depth about the actor. There are unreliable sources available for DOB, not for all. Also if you go through the sources I listed above beside articles, you can easily understand they're all different person. Thanks C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 06:39, 8 June 2023 (UTC)

Reason for page removal unclear.
Hello, you removed the Wikipedia ChoCo1 (group) to https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:ChoCo1 and I'm assuming that the reason is 'not notable yet'. May I ask what the criteria for being 'notable' is in this case?
I'm specifically asking which criteria from here https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(music) the group has yet to meet that resulted in the article being taken down.
Thank you in advance. Ditto1234 (talk) 01:33, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
- They are a sub-group of ChoCo who don't yet have an article and neither does the label. See Wikipedia:Notability (music)#Criteria for musicians and ensembles which says "Musicians or ensembles (this category includes bands, singers, rappers, orchestras, DJs, musical theatre groups, instrumentalists, etc.) may be notable if they meet at least one of the following criteria.". Not that they are notable. CambridgeBayWeather (solidly non-human), Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 15:02, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
Reversal of page move unclear
Hello, you reversed my move of Absence of Malice to Absence of Malice (1981 film), without explanation. I had posted this proposal to the talk page with explanation and had no comments for and against, so I went ahead. I thought WP became much clearer, and I had eliminated the confusion with the Absence of malice redirect. Could you describe why you think the reverted title is better than my change? Masato.harada (talk) 10:50, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
- The explanation was here. You left a comment on the talk page but not a proper discussion, see Wikipedia:Requested moves, especially as the page had been at that title since 2003. Given that the page has been there for over 20 years it indicates there is not much confusion.
- The undisambiguated title complies with Wikipedia:Article titles and is much easier for the reader to type.
- If a disambiguation was required then Absence of Malice (film) would have been better. CambridgeBayWeather (solidly non-human), Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 18:32, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
Help!
Hi, CambridgeBayWeather,
A new editor went a little crazy tonight moving an article all around and ended up creating a helluva lot of redirects (see Special:Contributions/Greg Rodrick). I know we generally keep redirects that are the result of a page move but I don't think we have a use for all of the redirects created by this editor's indecision about where to move an article. Would you might looking this over and deciding which to delete? You seem to have a facility for page move policy. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 06:46, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks. None of that made any sense. I just got rid of all the "/" links. CambridgeBayWeather (solidly non-human), Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 07:14, 28 June 2023 (UTC)

Request
We have been having a problem at Melges 15 and Melges 24 with an editor User Zenda1945 who has declared that he represents the manufacturer and is in a direct WP:COI. He has been edit warring to include promotional material in these two articles, including removing cited text and refs. I have posted warnings, attempted to get him to comply with the COI rules and post requests to have changes considered on the talk pages by neutral editors, but he has so far refused, claiming he is the only valid source of information. Can you please have a look and take whatever action you think is required? - Ahunt (talk) 17:45, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
- I think you got a bit carried away on Melges 24 and you could have ended up blocked for edit warring. I reverted to before the edit war and protected for a week. The River Wild vs River Wild
I have reversed the moves you made at both of these articles locations for the following reasons:
The average reader by default gets the 2023 if they simply search "river wild" in the WP search. They will likely not be looking for this article most often. Similarly, the new 2023 has also been referred to as "The River Wild", so some readers might be meaning to find it when they search "The River Wild". Directly both titles to the disambiguation page allows the reader to specify which of the articles they were wanting to read, should they type either of these searches. By allowing each article to have the year they were released, they can avoid these issues.
Additionally: see a similar edit due to the issues that arose due to Suicide Squad (2017 film) and The Suicide Squad (2021 film).--DisneyMetalhead (talk) 16:43, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
- Did you try and search for River wild or River Wild? The first is a red link and the second is a redirect to a disambiguation page. By the way River Wild (disambiguation) should be moved to River Wild as per standard disambiguations. CambridgeBayWeather (solidly non-human), Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 16:52, 16 July 2023 (UTC)

Ceremonial Guard move
I would like to move the page Ceremonial Guard to Ceremonial Guard (Canada). I see that this move was attempted before by another editor, but you reverted it. I believe that there was no talk page discussion at the time, so I would like to explain my reason here. If there are no objections from you, I will WP:BOLDLY carry out the move.
The reason is that "Ceremonial Guard", in general usage, does not refer to the Ceremonial Guard of Canada, but describes a general class of military groups known as a Guard of honour. So, I think that the current page at Ceremonial Guard should be moved to Ceremonial Guard (Canada), and a redirect be made from Ceremonial Guard to Guard of honour. Kind regards, Dawkin Verbier (talk) 13:33, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- Is the current hat not not sufficient as it's a proper name? Shouldn't ceremonial guard (a red link!) be a redirect to guard of honour? Why not open a RM on the talk page and get mor opinions? CambridgeBayWeather (solidly non-human), Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 13:41, 24 July 2023 (UTC)

Request to unprotect Module:Demo
This module, protected by you in 2019, currently has 465 transclusions, which generally doesn't fall under template editor protection. I'm currently editing that module in its sandbox and ask to unprotect it to avoid making a request to edit the page every time. Thanks! Jack who built the house (talk) 02:36, 25 July 2023 (UTC)

WP:RPPD inquiry
Hello, You protected User talk:ZappaOMatic/Archive 3 to full protection back in 2014 per user request. I wondered if the page still warranted full protection, or if it could be lowered to extended confirmed (or whatever is appropriate) to allow for access for clearing WP:LINT syntax errors. I ask because it has two errors of specific interest to me, (Tidy font and fostered content) and I was hoping to address those issues in a single clean edit and mark the page off my to-do list. Thank you for your time, Zinnober9 (talk) 01:02, 6 August 2023 (UTC)

- Found one other page you protected with this scenario: User:Racer Omega/Nav Has a few errors and was self requested protection. User has been absent since 2015. If it is not lowerable, I can make a change X to Y request for it instead. Thanks, Zinnober9 (talk) 17:24, 6 August 2023 (UTC)

- The tag filter on Special:NewPages and revision history pages can now be inverted. This allows hiding edits made by automated tools. (T334338)
- Special:BlockedExternalDomains is a new tool that allows easier blocking of plain domains (and their subdomains). This is more easily searchable and is faster for the software to use than the existing MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist. It does not support regex (for complex cases), URL path-matching, or the MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist. (T337431)
- The arbitration cases named Scottywong and AlisonW closed 10 July and 16 July respectively.

There is not a convincing reason why the image of that airline's headquarters should be in the infobox especially when you say "as per others", but no other airline article does this. ɴᴋᴏɴ21 ❯❯❯ talk 13:23, 11 August 2023 (UTC)

Kafasya.akl
Hello, CambridgeBayWeather,
I just filed a SPI case on this editor but it looks like you beat me and the checkusers to it! This is a sock farm that likes to edit articles on Asian airports if you happen to spot page moves like the ones Kafasya.akl did in the future. All the best, Liz Read! Talk! 19:13, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- There were several. I'm moving them back and move protecting as well. CambridgeBayWeather (solidly non-human), Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 19:18, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
FYI: I added the flags back to the article because I read MOS:FLAGS a couple of times and I don’t really see why it applies. It’s a table, not an infobox and it doesn’t introduce any POV issue to have flags there either. NM 05:03, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
- The flags are not appropriate as per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Icons#Inappropriate use in the subsections "Encyclopedic purpose" and "Do not use too many icons". And yes, I see that is saying icons but the page says "...icons encompasses any small images – including logos, crests, coats of arms, seals, flags". They are a lot of flags which are distracting and serve no encyclopedic purpose in that they don't add anything to the understanding of the article. Also see Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Icons#Do not emphasize nationality without good reason.
- In addition the use is inconsistent. Where are the Danish flags? Why do some countries not have flags? Why do some tables on the page not have flags?
- 3 CambridgeBayWeather (solidly non-human), Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 17:21, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
- Flag icons exist to help readers to visually distinguish items, and the list contains a whopping 132 entries. If you think there are too many icons, you can simply
rowspan
and collapse neighboring items into one. - I have read MOS:FLAGCRUFT. It exists because 1) Wikipedia is not a
place for nationalistic pride
: having a lot of uninhabitable settlements seem like an odd thing to be proud of; 2)placing a national flag next to something can make its nationality or location seem to be of greater significance than other things
wouldn’t apply either since this is literally an article focused on their locations. - If you think using the Greenland flag is inappropriate or noticed any missing flags, you are welcome to fix those. NM 21:59, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
- What encyclopedic purpose do the flags provide? They are being used to decorate the article. In that case images of the settlement would be a better idea. As you point out there are 132 items and thus the list becomes a blur of colour that does nothing to distinguish one entry from another. By the way I didn't say anything about "nationalistic pride". I do think there are too many icons (and they don't contribute to the list) and I did fix it by simply removing them. CambridgeBayWeather (solidly non-human), Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 22:19, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
What encyclopedic purpose do the flags provide?
- They “serve as visual cues that aid the reader’s comprehension”.
images of the settlement would be a better idea
- Adding images is a good idea, but it’s not related to this discussion about flags whatsoever.
By the way I didn’t say anything about “nationalistic pride”.
- It’s from the explanation of MOS:FLAGCRUFT you quoted. NM 05:09, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
- How do flags "serve as visual cues that aid the reader’s comprehension” of the community? They do not provide any additional information. They are just pure decoration. CambridgeBayWeather (solidly non-human), Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 14:36, 19 August 2023 (UTC)

Mount Washington weatherbox
I think it would be best to keep the snow color blue because that is the standard for US weatherboxes. Canada has the green snow color in their weatherboxes. I don't think that it's very problematic to read the "sea of blue." Akamaikai (talk) 21:09, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
- Except that some US boxes use blue and some green. It's not just the sea of blue but mainly that snow is a type of precipitation, as is rain, and it should be consistent. Either precipitation is all blue or all green. If it's all blue in a warmer area it's less of a problem but blue in colder areas creates a problem. See Template talk:Weather box/Archive 6 (the first box) for an example. It gets worse if you have wind chills and temperatures in the blue as well. Banning policy update regarding MOS
Hi CambridgeBayWeather, moments ago we attempt to remove overlinked locations of "Moscow" and "Saint Petersburg" on Alexander Pushkin article reverted five times for not following WP:MOS guideline. So we decided to let banned/blocked unregistered editors over MOS edit via WP:RFC at Wikipedia talk:Banning policy. 83.19.28.250 (talk) 06:42, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what you are talking about as you have never edited the Alexander Pushkin page. Which editors do you think are blocked (if they can edit they are not blocked) or banned. Can you post to the discussion where they were banned? CambridgeBayWeather (solidly non-human), Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 15:22, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
- Ferret has involved edit warring by IP (unregistered) users over WP:MOS policy, if the IP user edits, then reverts and then blocked temporarily, that is why it needs to be stopped. --83.19.28.250 (talk) 22:23, 1 November 2023 (UTC)

Junczyk (surname)
Hi, I created a website with the Polish surname Junczyk, and yesterday I changed the name of this website from Junczyk to the surname Junczyk, because Junczyk is a surname and a coat of arms. https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Ju%C5%84czyk_coat_of_arms I think it will be better if we move the page to Junczyk (surname), because it will help readers find both the coat of arms and the surname more easily. Polish and Russian Wikipedia also called this page Junczyk (surname): https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junczyk_(nazwisko), https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%AE%D0%BD%D1%87%D0%B8%D0%BA_(%D1%84%D0%B0%D0%BC%D0%B8%D0%BB%D0%B8%D1%8F) Have a nice day! Kadstos (talk) 18:38, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
- The English language Wikipedia does not have to follow the conventions of other languages. I see that in Russian Юнчик is a redirect to Юнчик (фамилия) and in Polish Juńczyk redirects to Juńczyk (herb szlachecki). So in Polish you need the disambiguation.
- Using Junczyk rather than Junczyk (surname) follows the convention as seen at Category:Polish-language surnames, Category:Surnames, and Wikipedia:Disambiguation. So use a disambiguation if it's required such as Adamski (surname) and Adamski or Bogus (surname) and Bogus. But Junczyk is unique, plus it's easier and quicker to type than Junczyk (surname).
