Pedro - I'm new at this and have been floundering. I see so many things I want to contribute to, but have to get over that initial "I have no idea how to do"... I looked at your talk page, not sure what to do there.
I have a basic article started. Wanting to know if there is somewhere to ask for help to edit before putting it on Wikipedia. Can you make suggestions? or suggest how to do?

- Hi Calnut. Some help! Firstly you're putting the "help me" template inside "nowiki" tags - e.g. <nowiki></nowiki> - that's because they're in the message I left, but if you use "nowiki" then it does what it says - no wikipedia markup - so it won't signify you need help and thus appear on the right pages! Not your fault - it's to make sure that a welcome message doesn't automaticaaly put you on the "needing help" page!
- To enter a "help me" template just literally paste this only: {{helpme}} ie the two curly brackets and the words with a description of what you need and someone will come running - just don't add the "nowiki" bit!
To join the Ohio Wikiproject go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Ohio/Participants and click "edit this page" at the top. Add your username alphabetically to the list.Oops - you did that okay! [1]- Is your missing article at User:Calnut/sandboxDr.T ? I can't see any edits you have made that have been deleted. Remember that untill you hit "save page" in the edit box then you won't have saved the text. If you exit from Wikipedia, or indeed just go to another page then anything will be lost until you save it.

{{helpme}}Thanks Pedro...Did I do the helpme correctly? The missing article...on the user page is only shows 3 paragraphs. When I go to edit, it looks like it is all there. However, when I click show preview, it goes back to the 3 paragraphs...? How do I get the entire article to show up all of the time?
Is there a way to ask someone to make suggestions to improve the article before it is published?

But I did move it, so I hope it is now live, though I can't seem to search for it. I am assuming it takes a while to get into the system? Thanks again for all of your help!
Next question: I have a great photo from an book copy written 1939 by Wm Wise who is no longer in business. Can this somehow be used in the article?
Next question: How do I link articles? In the Dr. T article it talks about the Roland medal. I have found reference of it in another article about the Mass Hort. Society. I can't even find anything about linking so I assume I am using the wrong term. Also I have really interesting photos of the medal, the evenings program, a newspaper clipping from the MassHort people. Do I have to get their permission to use these? Or is it best to ask them to put the photos into the Wikicommons?
There's just so many details!

- Hi there. I guess that you were talking about Dr. Victor A. Tiedjens? That is now a live article; anyone putting that name in the Wikipedia search box will get that article. If you mean Google, well, yes - they take some time to index things, and that is outside of the control of Wikipedia.
- The photo from the book is probably copyright, in which case, we couldn't use it. I'm guessing that the book has some kind of a copyright statement somewhere? It probably would not be possible to use. There is the chance of 'fair use', if 'no free alternative exists' - but it's difficult. If you want to check, ask on the Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.
- For more help, you can either;
- Leave a message on my own talk page;

- Use a {{helpme}} - please create a new section at the end of your own talk page, put {{helpme}}, and ask your question - remember to 'sign' your name by putting ~~~~ at the end;

Linking and Permissions
[edit]Linking - I'm not sure about the specific example, but you link to another article by putting the exact article title in double square brackets, for example, [[sausage]] - this will appear as sausage. You can also link from other words; for example; [[John Smith (Labour Party leader)|John Smith]] will appear as John Smith - thus linking the words "John Smith" to the article titled "John Smith (Labour Party leader)". For more help with that, see WP:LINKING. Chzz ► 15:47, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Permissions - it might be easier to get the respective copyright holder to upload the picture - thus they can check the box to declare that they release it under the appropriate licence. If that is not possible, you could ask them to email a permission, with the pictures attached. There is a text you can copy in user:chzz/help/myboilerplate, and the address to send it to is permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. Chzz ► 15:50, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

{{helpme}} Got email message today from a Nikbot, saying the image I uploaded yesterday will be deleted soon if I don't do and a big long list of possibilities. It doesn't tell me what is wrong, and I am new enough at this that I have no idea. Help! No one answered yesterdays helpme so I think I'm doing something wrong yet...I am sorry this is so difficult for me. Further help
[edit]Hello again.
I've changed the tag on File:Arie F. den Boer, Fred Edmunds, and Victor A Tiedjens.jpg to 'OTRS pending', which means that the email has been sent; at some point, a member of the OTRS team should connect the email to the pic - you should not need to take any further action yourself.
Regarding the live talk, all you need do is click on this, put something in the 'nickname' box, and click 'connect'. Then you just type at the bottom; just say 'hello' or something.
