Prof Garcia's Comments

[edit]

You've done an EXCELLENT job here, Carlos. Well done! As you move forward, don't forget to research where this idea of master status came from. Who coined the term? What article did it come from originally? This will be an easy way to add useful content to the article. But great job for now. I look forward to what you produce in the future! Week 6: You are really impressing me with your work here, Carlos. You are definitely going to make a significant contribution to the collective knowledge online! I am very excited to see what you produce in the end of this course. Alfgarciamora (talk) 12:30, 12 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@C mena15: You have done SUCH a great job here, Carlos! I think you are basically done with your research now. All you have to do is format your page a little bit more in order to make it look more like a well-polished Wikipedia page. The lead section, for instance, should only be a sentence or two. And then all your sub-sections should organize your ideas coherently. Also, work on making your language more encyclopedic. But excellent job, Carlos! I am very impressed. @Alfgarciamora: Thank you very much for the feedback professor, I'm glad you're enjoying my work. I went ahead and made the changes you recommended I hope it's what you wanted. I tried making it more plain and encyclopedic as well as moved the subsections around to make it more coherent. Oh and I also made some changes to the lead section. Thanks again, my page looks more like a wiki page now !

You have done a great job with this article! I think that the information you currently have in your Leads section concerning Concerning Hughes and Allport would also fit into a History section, which might stop the Leads section from getting too detailed. Are the headings in italics the sections that will be included in the article? If so, there might be a way to make it more organized. For example, there could be a section for Formation of Master Status, which could include how sexual identity develops and leads to master status in young adults. There could also be a Section for Effects of Master Status, where you could include how Master Status affects gang members during sentencing. I particularly enjoy your section on Navigating Multiple Identities! I think your race subsection would be a good place to mention double consciousness. However, I'm not sure the discussion about the possible views of Hughes and Allport under the Self-structure and Identity section should be included in the final article. Unless you found it in an actual source, it could be considered speculation. Fthen001 (talk) 20:33, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
