Cleaning up articles

[edit]

So, about this, that is not even close to good enough to de-tag. There is still blatantly promotional unsourced content there. The other issue is that conflicted editors very often leave out negative information. Before de-tagging you need to do your own search of reliable sources to see what has been omitted.

I do appreciate your desire to clean up promotional pages! Jytdog (talk) 22:09, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for this, I haven't edited much in the last few weeks, but will take a look at David Zinczenko again soon to see if there is anything that can be done. COIhunter (talk) 22:37, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Username

[edit]

Your username is disturbing, btw. Jytdog (talk) 22:40, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I created it late one night and seemed like a good idea at the time! Do you think I should change it? COIhunter (talk) 23:01, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I think you are probably a sock of Quixotic Potato. The name signifies you aren't here to build an encyclopedia. The username is actually harmful. The community doesn't want drama around COI management. It just wants it managed, in a civilized way. If we can educate people who are here with a COI to work within the system that is good for everybody. If they won't be managed then we have to waste time getting them blocked or banned (which is time that we are not spending building content). Your name is very ax-grindy. Hunters kill things. Now if it were something like BlackHatPaidEditorHunter it would be less objectionable. But even then... Jytdog (talk) 23:14, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
After taking a little time to think about the username, I do see what you mean. It could look provocative to some and that is the last thing I would want. I understand what you mean about building an encyclopedia, but in my opinion, a bottom feeder clearing up is just as important as the admins handling really important issues. I'm yet to see an editor focusing solely on this, so thought I could really contribute, creating my own little niche. I'm not sure how to change the username, but I'll start that process soon to avoid alienating other editors.COIhunter (talk) 13:08, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
