Image without license[edit]

Unspecified source for Image:James Kilbane.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:James Kilbane.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:55, 11 July 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 16:55, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

February 2013[edit]

Hello, CMPublicity. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Walter Görlitz (talk) 15:18, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, in addition to the potential conflict of interest issue brought up above there are many more:

1) Tone. We are here to produce an encyclopedia, not a promotional site nor a press release. Lines like "James Kilbane is certainly not a conformist and has not always aligned his work or beliefs to the usual practices of the Irish music industry" do not belong anywhere in Wikipedia even if they cite a reliable source.

2) Unreferenced material. There is not a single source supplied for this article. This is especially problematic when dealing with a living person. It's one thing to supply information about the subject (though without a source it should probably all be removed until one is supplied) but is entirely inappropriate to make claims about other people like "George Hamilton IV bestowed Kilbane with the title 'The Lone Ranger of Country Music' after hearing his music and story." Now you are making unsourced claims about two living people. At this point, given how long the article has existed without any sources, everything should be removed except the barest of facts and not added back without the proper citations.

3) While it appears the subject might be notable without reliable sources in the article to back up that claim anyone can come along and nominate the article for deletion. As some friendly advice, and this is all friendly so I hope you take it that way, the more you violate Wikipedia policies and guidelines with your edits the more likely it is that someone is going to get tired of it and nominate the article for deletion which then creates a whole new set of headaches for you.

My advice is to slow down, read up on the Wikipedia Manual of Style, all the links posted above, and go about creating an article the right way. Right now it is in bad shape and if you continue to make edits that violate Wikipedia guidelines and policies then your editing privileges will be taken away from you. None of us want that, so please, work with us to create an appropriate article for Wikipedia. If you have any questions or comments you can reach me on my talk page. Thanks. File permission problem with File:James Kilbane in Florida 2013.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:James Kilbane in Florida 2013.jpg, which you've sourced to Facebook. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Dianna (talk) 04:27, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:Country singer James Kilbane at Mary's House, Meryem Ana Evi, Ephesus, Turkey with Fr. Tarcy Mathias in 2007.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:01, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
