Image:Tsigganes-Greek Gypsies.jpg
[edit]Image:Tsigganes-Greek Gypsies.jpg, which had previously been deleted on en.wikipedia as a likely copyright violation is now on Commons: commons:image:Tsigganes-Greek_Roma-Gypsies.jpg. I do not see any good documentation of the status of that photograph, the description page asserts it was the uploader's own work. Possible, perhaps, but given the history of deletion on en.wikipedia, seems a bit questionable. It is a beautiful photograph--looks like the work of a professional or an advanced amateur. Usually, such people have a user gallery and the like, but I don't see such a thing on the uploader's page. The uploader's page User:E-mail_adress has several other copyright violation queries.
I thought you might want to look into this, given your previous editing on that photo on en.wikipedia. I lack sufficient experience in this sort of thing, and I do not understand flagging for copyright violations and the like on Commons.
Again, I have no direct knowledge of the status of that photograph. I did not find it on a quick Google search, other than on wikis, linking back to Commons. --Cotinis 04:49, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
haselhurst
[edit]Hello,
There are a list of images that I have uploaded to wikipedia (over a year ago) that i believe are ok to use - either pre-1920, photos of paintings (no creative content), or thumbnails (OK under fair use laws). I just need your help to resolve these issues and provide the correct copyright information for wikipedia.
Your name is listed as the person to contact, so I hope you can help.
Thanks, Geoff Haselhurst Haselhurst 03:19, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

Fair Use Images
[edit]Yes, I am aware of Fair Use guidelines. My User:Xtreambar/Temporary contains a draft article about important Cornell University buildings. The pictures would be fair use if I ever complete the article and upload it to the main set of articles.--Xtreambar 14:27, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

Re: Fair use images
[edit]The gallery was being used to simply keep track of the images I have uploaded. I was unaware that this violated policy. The page has been marked for deletion. Thanks. — Linnwood 22:04, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
I see you removed the images from here as fair use violations. In some of those cases, I don't agree with that. The fact that they are in the Portal space, not the Main, does not change everything regarding the fair use license to use these images under. In some cases, the images are to illustrate the subjects in question and there is text that is being illustrated: they're not for decoration. It is clearly, in my mind, not a violation therefore. If you don't agree, please direct me to a guideline against the use of images in this way, or explain why I should not be able to use them here. Regards, --Celestianpower háblame 21:17, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
- (shocked) CLW! :O Why on earth did you remove the lovely images? Do we need to have a fair use rationale for every time it appears? If that's the the whole problem then I'll do it tomorrow. Message me with the problem please, Highway Rainbow Sneakers 00:26, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

Army of Lovers
[edit]Hi there,
I left the following note on the discussion page of the Army of Lovers page:
I was not the editor of this page but I am almost certain that Army of Lovers were the first ever people to host Eurotrash. Eurotrash started in the UK in 1993 (evidence: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0238781/) and The Gods of Earth and Heaven album was released that year too so the fact seems to match the evidence. You have added a comment on my talk page http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Haselhurst&redirect=no about copyright for haselhurst image - well that image is of me by me. So it is free to use (I release all my work as GNU FDL. So can you remove that post and OK image, Thanks. See also my page on this at; http://www.spaceandmotion.com/copyright-copyleft-gnu-free-license.htm as it seems that users at wikipedia are not taking into account 'fair use' rules for thumbnail images. Undelete images?
[edit]Is there anyway that you can bring these images back? Image:Aksarchrieng.gif, Image:Aksarkhom.gif, and Image:Aksarmul.gif These images were created by me and I uploaded them with intention of giving it no copyright status so that anyone could use it. I was gone when you wrote me a message and I unfortunately did not have a chance to respond and these images were unfortunately deleted. And I don't have these images anymore on my computer. --Dara 11:04, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

Bummer. I'm really mad that it was deleted, because those images were just images of words and that's it. I understand that copyright infringement can be a problem, but who in the world is going to go after images of typed-up text? I felt that there was no need for the rush to delete those images uploaded by me, it could have least given me a chance to respond back (I was absent for a long time though). --Dara 12:54, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit]My purpose on Wikipedia
[edit]I am a member of the HK Ving Tsun Athletic Association. I use the IWCA forums to talk about Wing Chun and emailed one of the users (who works at management level in the school) about updating the Wikipedia article. I am not a member of the IWCA. I will be contacting their management again tomorrow about the images. One of their managers is a lawyer so he can perhaps advise me about the legalities concerning those images.
However I don't see the point of your question. Might I ask what your relation to this school is? Are you of a rival Wing Chun school? You seem to have an agenda against the IWCA which extends beyond standard moderator duties. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Takunr3 (talk • contribs) 14:09, 9 January 2007 (UTC).

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Cnncom.gif)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Cnncom.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fair use rationale for Image:Fat Face logo.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Fat Face logo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talk • contribs • Bot) 21:03, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Unspecified source for Image:Fat Face logo.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Fat Face logo.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:03, 17 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talk • contribs • Bot) 21:03, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Re:Miniature Schnauzer
[edit]- Well, I'm not sure who's wrong, but I really do not see any logic whatsoever why that shot , which shows the legs of a person and the same kind dog that pictured 3 times in the article, should stay while my image that shows a nice comparison between the face of a girl and a dog (with the unique kind of dog) should go. Anyway I requested my image to be deleted and please do not loose your time to respond that message. I guess you could use your time better, for examle, to make one more edit.

Hello there, I've noticed that you - like I - keep an eye on the ABBA bios and make sure they're grammatically correct, non-POV etc. Can you please have a quick look at the albums Frida (album) and Frida 1967-1972. For the past week or so I've been having some trouble with two (although I suspect they're the very same person) ABBA die-hard fans who seem to have their mind set on re-writing the history of the band single-handedly... and frankly, I'm getting pretty tired of it....
Tack på förhand!
